-.-.-Chapter 2-.-.-

As I was enjoying my birthday pancakes, knowing I’d definitely need the energy later, my parents never bought me presents ahead of time and always took me out shopping for my gifts on the day before spending the day out having fun. I heard the tell-tale clatter of the front door mail slot.

“That’s strange,” My dad commented, “the mail was already delivered,” he said as he put his paper and coffee down and went to go check, only to come back a minute later with a single letter in hand looking at it curiously.

“What’s that dear?” my mum asked as she came to collect my finished plate, as I turned in my seat to see as well.

“A letter. Strangest thing, there’s no stamp or return address, and it appears to be handwritten,” he said, turning it over chuckling, “it even has a wax seal” he added as he walked over and held it out for me.

I blinked confused as I took it and looked at its front seeing it was actually addressed to me, “that is odd,” I said finding it very strange, no one had ever personally written to me before like this.

“Well don’t keep us in suspense lad,” my dad teased as he went back to his seat, “go on and open it and let’s see what it’s all about.”

I nodded and turned it over to do just that, but paused slightly seeing the wax seal. It had a crest pressed into it, with four animals on it and an H in the middle. The sight stirred some old memories I had from my past life. A lion, a badger, an eagle and a snake.

I felt myself take a small sharp breath when I saw it. ‘This couldn’t possibly be what I think it is’ I thought to myself, thinking it must just be some kind of joke, but I immediately ruled that exact possibility out, and for good reason.

In the past, as soon as I had been old enough to do so, I had checked the local libraries for my favorite book series growing up, both to keep my memories of them fresh and to rule the stories out as the world I was living in. I had found most of them that had been released by this point in time anyway. But the thing was, one of my favorite series wouldn’t have been released for another six years. It disappointed me but I was set to wait until then to relive the story when it came out.

You could be reading stolen content. Head to the original site for the genuine story.

So with that in mind, it was physically impossible for someone to try and prank me with a bogus acceptance letter to Hogwarts school of freaking witchcraft and wizardry, because there were no Harry Potter books.

Being careful as I peeled the wax seal back, because if it turned out to be real there was no way I wasn’t going to have it framed, before opening it and taking out the thick sheets of parchment and unfolding them to read the lines that most children in my last world would have dreamed of reading.

Dear Mr Burton

We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry.

‘This, this was legit, I’m in the freaking world of Harry Potter, I’m a wizard’ I thought to myself in shock only to be broken from my thoughts as I heard my dad chuckling at me.

“Well what’s it about lad, must be something if it’s got you so…” he began to say before we all heard a knock at the front door making me jump slightly.

“Who could that be at this hour, it's not even ten o'clock yet?” my mum said as she dried her hands.

“I’ll go see,” my dad said as he handed her his empty coffee cup, likely having finished it while I had been gawking at my letter, before going to answer the door.

As he did I looked back to the letter and tried to wrack my brain and think back for any signs of this that I might have missed in the past. I couldn’t think of any incident where I had incidents of accidental magic, which if I had, it would have clued me in early on about what world I was in well before this.

My mum must have seen my confused expression and came over taking a seat next to me, “honey what’s wrong?” she asked as she looked at the letter and frowned reading the first few words, “what?”

“Mum I know…” I began to say before I heard my dad come in with whoever was at the front door, I turned to look and felt my eyes widen seeing the red headed man behind him.

“Good morning, sorry for the intrusion, but my name is Arthur Weasley, I’m here to explain a certain letter that you will have received this morning,” he said, giving a small smile.

My dad, for his part, looked confused as he led Arthur to one of the chairs at the kitchen island, while my mum stood up giving me a concerned look before looking back at Arthur and smiling.

“Well this is unusual, but I suppose an explanation is in order,” she said, clearly trying to keep calm, “would you like some coffee Mister Weasley, I just put on a fresh pot.”

“No thank you Misses Burton, you won’t be the only family that I have to pay a visit to this morning to explain things,” he declined politely as he sat down and gave me an amused look glancing to the letter in my hand, “well young man I imagine you are quite confused, but I can assure you that that letter is one hundred percent genuine. You, my boy, are a wizard.”
