Chapter 6: Afterthoughts

Chapter 6: Afterthoughts

I saw complete light around me. No people, no nothing. I just heard voices. Young voices talking about something.

"We heard the parents call you a monster. Ha! you're pathetic, is what you are."

"Leave me alone!" I... that voice is familiar...

"Or what, you're gonna kill me? You can't. Why? Because you're weak."

"RRRAAAAAARRRRGGGGHHH!!" I felt my body move...

"RUN! HE'S NO MAN!" My hands felt warm with blood, something I had felt and smelt so many times before.

-KYN, STOP!- Reivi's face suddenly appears before me, waking me up.

"RRARGH!" I roared, flames spewed out of my mouth. This scared the maid in my room coming with food which made her scream loudly. She almot dropped the plate of food she came in to leave.

In a few seconds, the plate was in my grasp, and she scurried out.

-You really need to work on those first impressions. Fuck knows how many women you have scared.-

I'm not in the mood.

-I am, though. Also, why sleep? Sleep is for the weak..-

sleep calms me.

-I sure hope so, otherwise what the fuck is the point?.-

I got prepared, I strapped my newly aquired black powder rifle to my back. I went down to the reception area to get some more information on the town I was in.

Before I entered the area, a holy knight entered, no, the captain of the group that attacked me but surrendered shortly after, and the rest of his group came after. One of his members was a man with short brown hair, a fur vest and splint mail pants, a longbow with the top limb longer than the bottom limb and he looked ready to attack at any time.

The person next to him one was a lady with short raven hair and two swords on her hips, an estoc on her right side and a shortsword on her left. She was also wearing a gambeson vest with some jack chains on her arms and boots with knee long shorts. But for some reason, an oversized backpack.

The third accomplice was an elf with faint blue crew cut, a chainmail on leather coat, and some white trousers. His weapon was a big crossbow with long white iron limbs and a scope for sniping along with a crank for tensing the string which was yellow was hanging from the back, a pavis with floral designs, on top, and a long seax with a bramble design on the sheath hanging from his belt.

The last member was another woman who had a long white and golden robe, a quarterstaff on her back, books and bottles strapped to her belt and long, blonde hair-

-Nice-sized breasts, luscious thin lips, nice birthing hips and a well worked arse. She must be the one.-

I entered my mind shortly and slammed Reivi against the floor. I snarled, pinning Reivi down by his throat, almost breaking his neck.

"DON'T. EVER. MAKE. THAT. JOKE!" I roared at him. He just started laughing and suddenly a cup of wine appeared in his hand. He poured it into his mouth, laughing all the while.

-I deserve that one, but still, that was six days ago. Move on. Here, have some mental wine: all the taste with none of the side-effects.-

The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

I squeezed harder, crushing his throat. "Is no memory of mine sacred? MUST YOU POKE FUN AT EVERY HORRIBLE THING THAT IS HAPPENING TO ME!?" while I was angrily panting black smoke, Reivi just kept pouring wine into his mouth. "ANSWER ME!"

-You need to move on. Will you act like a crybaby everytime you kill someone? Because if you did, you could literally fill the sea.-

Realizing his point, I breathed deeply as I slowly let go of his neck. I stood up and helped him stand. "Sorry, y-you're right, I need to move on."

Snapping back to reality, I heard the leader of the band asking for me. He had a flanged mace and tower shield on his back, chainmail with a linen tabard over his torso, a cross talisman as a necklace and a greathelm with an accentuated cross made of gold on it.

I am a new person now. No need for my previous name, I am not that person anymore.

P.O.V. Milder

"Hello, anyone here?" Milder meakly called out at the reception desk. Then a portly, short man came out. He had balding, grey hair along with a glass in his hand which he was cleaning with a rag. "What can I help ye with?"

"I'm looking for a friend. He has red lines on his face, ashen blonde hair and he has black eyes." Milder could see the innkeeper begin to sweat profusely. Then the innkeeper motioned him to come closer and whispered in his ear.

"Aye, he is here. But don't kill him. Please." The fear on his face was obvious as he said it. He must have done something horrible.

"Could you direct me to where he is?" Milder was afraid he might meet his doom here, but he had nothing to go back to.

"No need, I'm right here. Did you miss me?" As he appeared out of the corner all the people in the inn including Seicig looked scared and tense at him. He was clearly a scary presence if he made Seicig scared, the woman was practically fearless, so this was a surprising sight.

He had a patroller jacket too big for him on, and a rifle strapped on his back. He calmly walked over to a full table, and the attendants knew this was their time to move. Strange. He leaned his rifle on the table and sat on one of the chairs. He was getting his point across, Milder and his crew sat on the remaining chairs.

"So why go through all the trouble to try to find me?" He was leaning back on his chair and waved at the maid who quickly came over, scared for her life.

"Y-yes?" The maid was shaking slightly as she was taking his order.

"Would you guys care for anything? I can pay." Everyone except Milder shook their heads at his offer.

"I would like some wine and bread if you have any." Milder was a religious person, following the godly rules of his order, even before he was a holy knight. To not respect the guidelines would be akin to sinning.

"Bread, wine and the sourest beer you have, please." He was really polite for a demon, most demons were genocidial or at the very least extremely arrogant or rude in common conversation. What made him any different was a mystery altogether.

"So. Introductions. My name is... Kykvandi, and yours are?" the stranger said whilst showing a friendly smile. at least, that was the intention.

"I am Milder. She is Djarfr." He pointed to the lady with the raven hair and brown skin and she nodded to Kykvandi. "The elf is Saethwyr, he is our marksman." Milder pointed to the elf. "Our scout is Varr." Varr ndded his head upwards. "And our mage is Seicig." She came closer to Myko and looked at him strangely.

"Who are you?" Not only did Seicig try not to be rude ever, but she just acted like it was the end of the world looking at him. "Not your average demon. Please don't touch me, I'm ticklish." He kept a straight face as Seicig kept poking him and touching him.

As this moment felt longer than it was, the maid came with two glass bottles and some bread and placed it on the table before walking away, slightly less scared than before of the demon.

Milder said a small prayer before pouring the wine into a glass and eating the bread. Kykvandi just took the cork off the bottle and drank it all in just moments. Milder was beginning to see someone dangerous, but no monster sat in front of him.

"How can I not read your mind? everyone I meet, including demons, I could read them like a book. But you... you're different, almost like a mental block, but even when I press hard, you are still unreadable." Seicig was incredibly fascinated by Kykvandi, who, apparently had a mental wall that was impenetrable. Good, now she would be distracted for a few days. She looked at Milder with a sarcastic look and continued prodding at him.

"Where I was born, mental walls were developed at early ages to prevent something like that from happening or having our brains boiled by banshees." He said casually. Seicig almost looked giddy at the prospect of an unreadable person which she would attempt to overcome.

"So you're from Zerura?

"Yes."

"Now that you've tagged me along, what now?" he remarked at the group, interrupting the train of thoughts they had.

"We go south." Everyone at the table paled at what Milder said except Myko who just started to smile. He then stood up. "Alright, i'm just going to go pack up, pay the tab and go shopping." With that, Myko left the group who were most likely going to their doom. Again.

Maybe i should have stayed in the order. Much less confusion than this.
