Chapter 24. A breakthrough (edited)

Naath looked over the eager crowd in front of him that was patiently waiting for his stories of his past life. Naath was thinking over the information and pondering what he should say and what he shouldn’t. While he was thinking the tension and anticipation for his explanation grew. Even the elders inside of the meeting hall were all unknowingly leaning forwards in their seats looking at the scree. A few of them even wanted to go down and listen in person if that wouldn’t give away that they were spying on him.

The sect master was also antsy and wanted to go down in person, after fighting with himself internally he turned to ask elder Gui to disguise him. But when he turned to look where elder Gui should be sitting, he was nowhere to be found. Even a grand soul master like elder Gui couldn’t resist the allure of hearing this kind of information in person. This was information about the past world of a reincarnator after all! Not only that but apparently a world without cultivation! Knowing this, elder Gui used a formation and made himself invisible and hid himself in the crowd to listen to Naaths story. Not only that but being here in person he could also project sound back to the screen he made.

The sect master was about to explode with rage until he heard some soft sounds coming from the formation. This eased the tension in the meeting hall significantly, they may not be able to hear it in person but at least this way they would be able to actually hear it. As all of the elders were calming down and the sect master was taking deep, calming breaths, King spoke up.

“Young master, I can sense a concealment formation nearby, someone is watching this meeting in secret. I can also vaguely sense a projection formation, meaning they are sharing the information that they get.”

Hearing this Naaths face darkened and his bros knitted together. King gave Naath a location and he glared at that exact spot, the seemingly empty space. When he did, elder Gui felt a chill run through him, it seemed to him like Naath had found him, but that was impossible, right? As he was thinking it was impossible Naath spoke up.

“Whoever is hiding there, come out now. I’ll give you five seconds to drop the concealment formation. If you wait until after that, well you wont like the consequences.”

Elder Gui stiffened but held firm and trusted his formation, simply moving to another location as Naath counted down.

“5…

4…

3…

2…

1…

Okay, don’t say I didn’t warn you!”

Saying this Naath listened to King’s guidance and jumped towards elder Gui. Seeing Naath jump directly at him elder Gui was stunned and froze for a second. This second allowed Naath to grab a hold of him Once Naath felt his hand make contact and grab hold of something, he ran his True Void Arts. When he did elder Gui felt like all of his energy was being drained into an infinite abyss that could swallow everything in existence.

His formation broke down quickly as it ran out of energy, revealing elder Gui. When Naath saw his soon to be master he was shocked and stood there dumbly, forgetting to stop his True Void Arts. Because of this Naath siphoned off a stupid amount of martial energy from elder Guis body. Feeling all of this energy rush into his body Naath immediately used it to condense a True Void Membrane. Even still there was a lot of energy left over, but not quite enough to form the next membrane.

With no other choice, Naath sent the energy to the existing membranes and prepared to condense the energy and break through. Slowly the energy gathered in the 16 membranes Naath had and started to go through the Cycles of True Void. Once cycle, two, three, and so on until the membranes reached 6 cycled, over three times the number of cycles he has gone through last time! After each cycle the energy slowly leaked out into Naaths bones adding to his perfect crystalline skeleton. But, this time Naath felt like the changed occurring were different. Like this breakthrough would be different. Still he knew he was absolutely about to break through, Naath yelled to elder Gui.

“Elder Gui, Grab everyone here with a formation and get as far away from here as you can! Don’t forget Brutus, the wolf! My last breakthrough is going to seem like someone just popping some joints compared to this one. HURRY!!!

Hearing this, elder Gui’s eyes widened in panic, he shuddered thinking about how monstrous Naaths last breakthrough was. Recalling it he didn’t even bother arguing with Naath about the face that he had just siphoned off his masters energy and then gave him an order. Elder Gui waved his arm and made a giant sphere formation that wrapped around all of the True Void faction members, and one around Brutus who was laying down nearby. Then he fled at his maximum speed with everyone being carried in his formations.

Once he had flown 10 kilometers away from the city elder Gui finally stopped to catch his breath. Once he was out of sight Naath let out a sigh and let the energy from the end of the 16th cycle slowly trickle out into his bones. Naath braced himself for the pain of it but to his surprise there was no painful explosion or a shattering of his bones. It seemed like the energy was trickling in like a river silently flowing into an ocean. Once all of the energy was inside of his bones though, a change began to occur. The energy began to swirl and flow inside of his bones creating odd patterns of energy and as time passed this swirling sped up more and more.

Eventually this swirling reached a critical speed but seemed to be missing one last step. Naath thought for a moment that his breakthrough was going to fail. Suddenly his True Void Membranes flared up and went into the attraction phase and began to suck in a massive amount of energy. Like 16 black holes they sicked in all of the energy in a radius of one, and then two, and finally 12 kilometers. If any normal cultivator absorbed this much energy they would go right from bone hardening to organ refinement realm! Then, when the True Void membranes stopped pulling in energy they left a vacuum of energy causing the energy of the world to rush in to fill it. The sound of the surrounding energy rushing in to fill this vacuum was horrific, like a hurricane from Jupiter!

Then, when the energy collapsed in and filled the area again, Naath’s True Void Membranes once again stirred and sucked all of it in. Next when they consumed all of the energy again instead of stopping, the range began to expand outwards even further. At the rate that energy was being sucked in, it seemed like Naath would consume all of the energy on this planet before his True Void Membranes stopped! Inside of his True Void Membranes the energy that was being sucked in was being compressed over and over again to the extreme. Soon the energy density and purity reached an absolutely absurd level.

At this point Naath felt the space inside of his membranes starting to slowly expand, just like his soul sea would when he cultivated it. Once this process started though, clouds darker than a starless night sky appeared and blocked out all sunlight. Soon though a new light appeared as lightning began to crackle and thunder from these clouds that grew wider and wider until they seemed to stretch from horizon to horizon. Eventually the rumbling of the thunder became the only sound in the world as the lightning grew more frequent and thicker. King upon seeing this spoke up and said.

“Damn, even the heavens have decided to intervene in young masters cultivation! But this tribulation seems odd. Wait, are the heavens supplementing energy to the young master because this world doesn’t have enough?! Are the True Void Arts really that monstrous? This breakthrough is utter madness!! I haven’t seen anything even close to this since I had a body of my own… Maybe, just maybe the young master can achieve that long cherished goal?”

After speaking to this point, King fell into deep thought and had no more mind to pay attention to the world outside of Naaths soul sea any longer. Meanwhile, the people in said world were fleeing in terror in all directions. The sect master and elders were all grabbing as many disciples as they could find and fleeing off into the distance as far as they could. Finally, this typhoon of energy and tribulation clouds stopped growing at 100 kilometers, encompassing the entire core region of the sect and effect all of Raging River city! When the sect master, elders, and civilians looked back at the tribulation clouds they all went completely pale as if all blood was drained from their faces.

The lighting was flowing through the clouds making the darkness seem like day, the lighting streaks were the thickness of at least a meter and the thunder was deafening. Everyone knew what tribulation was, they all had to go through it when they reached the cell awakening stage. It was part of their basic education to learn of things like this. And they all knew that the scale of this tribulation meant one of two things would happen. Either 1. The lightning would strike down and Naath would be deader than dead, or 2. He would survive and create a legend!

As everyone helped there breaths the first bold of lightning struck down and then, upon contact with Naath, disappeared like it never existed! This lightning was absorbed cleanly and completely by Naath’s True Void Membranes like a drop of water falling into a vast empty reservoir. Then, a second bolt came down and a third, again and again they rained down on Naath until 9 bolts had fallen down on him.

Naath during all of this was paying attention to the situation inside of his body and was stunned. His True Void Membranes had taken in a dizzying amount of energy from the tribulation lightning. Then, it seemed like they had reached some critical point and stopped taking in any and all energy, sealing themselves off. Then they began the cycle of True Void with some oddities. After the energy type changed in a cycle some of the previous energy type would somehow always remain. In creation the energy of nothing was present, in attraction, creation was present and so on. To Naath it seemed somehow incomplete, after this seemingly incomplete cycle was finished the energies all moved into Naath’s bones.

Inside of his bones, as the energy began to flow in it joined the swirling energy and it became chaotic and wild as the energy flowed even faster. After all of this energy was inside of his bones all of the moving energy abruptly stopped. Then, it started to move again but not randomly this time. It was like the individual energy types were alive and drawn to specific locations. Once the energies settled in these areas they calmed down and then began replacing parts of Naath’s bones. The energy of True void filled the empty sponge-like cavities in his bone marrow, creation energy became the marrow itself, taking on the job of creating blood cells. On top of the marrow, the energy of attraction settled down and formed a thin layer. Then the energy of destruction seemed to take over the vast majority of his bones structure with the energy of nothing creating a sort of barrier around this destruction energy.

This outer layer seemed almost like a dimensional wall, or a container as it surrounded, coated, and outlined every bone in Naath’s body. Then when this energy finished settling, something odd happened. The creation marrow began to produce new blood, various kinds of blood cells were made with the various energies of the void!
