Learning this Naath took out the token that elder Gui gave him and put his martial power inside of it. After doing so a map appeared on top of the token that displayed the sect in detail. Right down to the hills and crevasses on the plateau everything seemed to be visible, it also seemed like it was in real time, somehow. Even Naaths house that he had finished not even 24 hours prior was shown on it. There was even a “you are here” style marker! Following this map Naath was able to find the edge of the plateau that had his house below it.
He walked off to the side making sure that he wouldn’t land on his own house. After doing this he marked off a spot in the dirt that was present atop the plateau for next time. Then without hesitation, following elder Gui’s advice, he jumped right off the edge and started falling down. As he did so he felt a large pressure on his body and though he thought that it was uncomfortable he didn’t really pay it any mind. After falling for about 10 seconds Naath suddenly thought of something and a bright smile lit up on his face. He started to say “weeeeeee~~~” as he fell down the cliff.
Meanwhile at the bottom, the group that Naath had let settle near him that had decided to be some of the founding members of the True Void faction were in trouble. Every single one of the founding members was an outer disciple and right now they were being surrounded by a group of inner disciples. If it was before the sect rules had changed then that wouldn’t be a big issue as many inner disciples before the change had gained that position through connections and various means both good and evil. However, due to the recent change in the sect rules all the people who didn’t meet the new requirements were immediately placed at a new ranking.
All of the inner disciples in front of them were people who were becoming core disciples and starting to even catch the eyes of a few elders. But now they had been thrown back down to the rankings of inner disciples and all of their hard work and brown nosing had been undone. They had groveled to many people, done many undesirable tasks, and shady jobs to get to the positions they were at. They all knew each other from these jobs and having to work together in order to do some of them. Now that they had been demoted to the area below the plateau they all grouped up and formed a faction. They had just stumbled upon the area that Naath had set up camp at and decided that they liked it.
Now, they were trying to throw out the people currently here in order to take over. They didn’t expect that the people here would end up fighting back this hard though. How were these people outer disciples? They had managed to fend them off for a full hour! Finally the group of demoted disciples managed to beat the last person that was here defending the territory and they made there way over to Naaths building. They paused when they saw it too one of them commenting on it.
“Wow, whoever built this is definitely not an inexperienced builder, how the hell did any outer or even inner disciple build this? Doesn’t the sect only accept people younger than 30 as disciples? Wait… What the hell, guys look at this, whoever made this place didn’t use a single nail!”
The demoted disciples were admiring the building for a few minutes before they stepped inside. Before they could admire the surroundings though they saw a large white wolf laying down comfortably in his own bed at the end of another larger one made for a human. Greed could instantly be seen In these disciples eyes, this was a moon wind wolf! It’s pure white/silver coloration showed just how pure its bloodline was. It’s size showed them that it was still young maybe 2 years old at most. This was an absolute jackpot! A magical beast like this could sell for hundreds of thousands if not millions of gold!
But Brutus saw them at the same time and immediately became hostile, he charged at them and managed to clamp down on one of their throats and throw him out through a nearby window. After that he glared at the rest who only seemed to be even more reassured. One of them saying.
“Guys we don’t need to fear this little pup. He didn’t even use his wind element let alone his celestial element! This pup still hasn’t even managed to tap into his bloodline elements, get him!”
As all of this was happening Baal and Zeke had made it to the halfway point up the steps and were looking around the shops and pavilions here for Naath. After not finding him for a while they asked around and discovered that he had continued up the stairs. They were shocked but not overly surprised by this, after all they had both seen Naath’s talent in one way or another. It made sense that he would be able to go up the stairs this quickly while only at the fourth stage of bone hardening. As they learned about this though they felt a wave of pressure and heard a massive explosion! Baal and Zeke as well as everyone around them fell to the ground holding their ears.
It was an earthshaking explosion but the sound was defiantly the one made when someone broke through. Baal smiled through the pain knowing exactly who had broken through, Zeke was shaking and praying he never met whatever monster it was who made that sound whole breaking through. Then he saw Baal’s smile and he froze. When the shaking of the buildings stopped and the sound passed he asked Baal.
Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.
“T-uh, That wouldn’t happen to have been our new young master would it?”
Baal’s smile grew wider as he said.
“Oh yeah, that was him alright. Ive known him for like a week maybe but I saw his talent and what he can do during a breakthrough first hand. It seems like his talent wasn’t fully revealed at the testing stone though. I’ve made friends with an absolute monster of a genius haha! The True Void faction will soar in the future!”
Hearing this Zeke was utterly shocked, he was also thanking his past self for making the smart choice to try and apologize and even join Naath. Once the shock receded though they went back to business and got a few supplies they would need for the future and then started to head back down.
Back at the base of the True Void faction Brutus had taken the fight outside where he had a better advantage. However he was still badly outnumbered and out gunned, the only reason he was still able to fight was that the group wanted him alive. Even still Brutus was covered in wounds and bald spots, a few places even had charred fur. Parts of his fur now red from his wounds as blood spilled out of them. Seeing this the leader of the demoted disciples spoke up.
“Fuck this wolf is tough! If we wanted to kill the thing it would be easy but capturing this thing alive is a nightmare! Who the hell tamed this beast?! Whatever, one more push everyone and it should fall down!”
The disciples began to move in in unison and planned to hit Brutus from all sides again and finally capture him. As they moved in to do this though they heard a strange whistling sound, almost like something was falling at ludicrous speeds. As this whistling grew louder and louder they also started to hear an ‘eeeeeeeeee’ sound. They all looked up together and saw a young man in outer disciple robes with pure black hair and emerald green eyes falling from the sky. They all watched as the young man landed and a massive ‘Bang!’ sounded as a small crater formed from his impact with the ground.
This made everyone look over, including Brutus, who could have instead used this opportunity to attack and take down another of the disciples. But what had just happened was so out of the norm that even Brutus, a wild wolf, was caught off guard. In this absurd situation even a honed predator like him was thrown for a loop and forgot his instincts. Obviously if Brutus was caught off guard then the disciples who had never actually worked very hard for anything before and had simply schemed their way up the ranks were flabbergasted.
From inside of the crater a voice came out, seemingly talking to themselves.
“Man that was fun, team four star hit that nail on the head ahaha. Whew, I’m glad I broke through though, if it were my old bones they’d have shattered on impact. These new ones though weren't even shaken slightly. My muscles are definitely going to be sore for a few days though, this feels like a charlie horse on steroids.
After this they heard a gentle whistling and the shifting of dirt as whoever had just fallen from the sky was slowly making his way out of the meter deep crater that they made. As they came over the edge and saw the situation in front of them their face soured. This young man was of course Naath and as soon as he saw the injuries and remnant energies on Brutus his eyes went cold. He looked at the demoted disciples and slowly walked forward as he spoke.
“Okayyy, I was having such a nice day too. I just got my first ever master, found a good blade, even got some new threads on the way. But you idiots just had to touch my bottom line. Brutus come over here and get behind me, you don’t have to worry now buddy, since I’m here they shouldn’t even dream of hurting you again.”
At first Naaths tone was cold and even, a clear contrast to his previously happy whistle. Even his face fell and his smile went flat when he saw everything. When he spoke back up to Brutus though his tone was warm and reassuring like his anger evaporated. As soon as Naath finished speaking Brutus ran over to go behind Naath. As Brutus did this one of the demoted disciples ran forward and yelled.
“Hey wolf, where do you think you’re going?! You think some bone hardening brat can save you? Don’t make us laugh! Come over here and accept your new master already!”
Before this disciple could even move a full meter Naath had already made his move. In only a second Naath appeared in front of the disciple shocking him at first. But he ultimately said.
“Oh, so you cultivate in an element that helps you with speed huh? Too bad speed wont be able to hur- Ahhhhhhhhh!!!”
He got halfway through his sentence before Naath grabbed the disciples hand and clenched his own, tightly. Instantly it shattered the bones inside of the disciples hand making him cry out in agony along with the distinct sound of breaking bones. They broke so quickly that it sounded almost like some sort of morbid bubble wrap. After that Naath took his other hand and planned to punch the disciple and incapacitate him. It did not work the way he intended though, he underestimated his new strength by a wide margin. Instead of just knocking the wind out of the disciple his fist went right through him.
Naath stared at the scene of his own fist going clean through the disciple in shock. He took this in for a second and said.
“Ah this is what it feels like to kill? Hmm, since this is a cultivation world I suppose I should get used to this feeling and adjust my mental state a bit.”
After that he thought to himself ‘I also don’t seem to be bothered by it at all, as if its simply the way things happen. Is it due to my soul cultivation? Another question for King later I suppose. Anyway there is some more trash to take out… more gently this time.’
Naath took his fist out of the disciple and then turned to the others saying.
“So I might only be a bone hardening cultivator, but I cultivated the right way and built a foundation that is… painfully sturdy. You lot probably took shortcuts and half measures so it wouldn't hurt so badly, right?”
The disciples all went pale hearing these words and seeing Naaths expression hardly flicker after he killed someone.
