Chapter 0 : Arugo is Shutting Down

In a large cave with massive purple glowing crystals growing everywhere, their light emission brightening the areas they reside, the ground rumbles and a loud monsterous roar echoed out from deep inside.

A hermit titan monster, a jewel like giant serpent slither rapidly across the ground with its spiky red crystal scales scratching the ground. The scarred ground erupted and a red wave of red gemstones shot up, trapping and piercing whatever was in its range.

The solo hunter jumped in the air with his twisted sheperd like wooden staff with a dull white crystal growing inside the hook and directed his arms to the head of the serpent, shooting a powerful beam of light on the brows of the snakes' forehead.

Bits of the light was reflected, shattered and flew into different directions but it exploded one of the eyes of the snake, letting it hiss loudly in anger.

The serpent coiled up and hid its head behind its body and whipped its tail around chaoticly in the area, breaking the stone spears hanging above.

The hunter threw up his staff and held the end of the rod, hitting the falling stone spears directly to the serpent. The ferious flying stone cones shot in a flash with a blinding trail of light coating it, increasing its damage and power.

The stone projectiles exploded on the serpent scales, the rapid and continuous blows on one spot of the serpent body broke through the hard scales and to the hot soft flesh of the monster.

The eyes of the serpent widen in pain and shock and it jumped out of its position and charged at the hunter madly, ignoring all defense and going into assault.

The crystal serpent opened its mouth widely and two large fangs shone brightly amongst the small jagged jewel teeth along side it.

The hunter just stared at the outrage serpent in confusion, wondering why it react so realisticlly as it was just a programmed mob and activated two spells at once.

The first one was a personal light dome made of dozens of hexagons and the second was a wide range light shield, anyone in its range would get two massive transparent light shields around them. Sadly this guy is a loner and had the three shields for himself.

The fang of the serpent smashed towards him, the teeth crushing to pieces as it encountered the light barrier.

The head of the serpent shot upwards in the momentum in sudden pain, but the hunter was swallon at the same time.

The disappearance of the hunter made the serpent though he had died but a burning sensation rose up from its mouth, its body enlarging to the point its throat crushed the ceiling above.

The serpent exploded from the inside out, a radius of light blinding the whole room as the guts and crystals blew all over the place.

"I really want a meat shield sometime." The lightconductor cried as he was on his knees exhausted.

The lightconductor is one of four magic classes in the game he was playing, but one of two support classes you could play as. One was the ranger and the other one was the lightconductor.

Arugo, a MMORPG he first played 9 years ago and has forever since been addicted to the realistic massive fantasy world. Old and monstly outdated by all the other latest game in his era he thought this game was more fun then them.

The group that made this game slowly but surely does update the game, but mostly its left alone as they had other more popular games to work on.

With his nine years record on the game he has particpated in countless events and collected hundreds of priceless treasures. And the special authority he bought from the game creators he was able to own a house and his own private land in Arugo.

Arugo, because of its history of being a old fashion rpg there was barely any restriction meaning he could change class, his appearance, even his gender and name if he wanted to. But of course its expensive and cost game currency.

Unauthorized tale usage: if you spot this story on Amazon, report the violation.

Of course, he hitted the level limit and currency limit. Level 5000, wars participated : 75, gold 1B, silver 1B, brozen 1B. And he fought this giant jewel serpent not for the bounty it had on its head but for a new crytal core for his staff.

He went over to the head of the giant serpent and jumped on its massive size, plucking the red eye from its skull.

He held the red orb in glee. His hand only covered the bottom half of the jewel serpent eye and it was the maximum that his staff could hold.

He pulled back his hand and lifted his staff, punching the red orb through the long thin white crystal.

He moved his hands out of the way and the thin crystal then grew over the red orb, diluting its colour into a more transparent tone. This was a rare merging type of staff he gained from a mob called the undying sourcerer king, which eventually died in his hands.

"I guess using a supportive NPC during my journey is better then nothing." He teleported back to a place were he set up his hometown and appeared in his room he rented in the traven.

He fell on his wooden stool and kicked off his boots, threw his staff on the bed and took of a black robe with a hood that left his right arm on the outside, revealing wraps below his plain shirt.

He untied the rag around his mouth and breathe freely, the stuffiness in the rag while he was fighting was suffocating. But the toxic gas in the cave would've killed him eariler if he wasn't wearing the special rag.

His gentle long golden hair was let loose from its bound and he laid there with his back leaning against the wall peacefully, the perfect features of his soft slim face and darting royal green iris moved towards the window on the opposite wall.

There was a loud commotion going on outside that disturbed his rest, making him grunt and turn his back to the window.

As he was about to close his eyes a knock echoed in his room, banging the wooden door at the second furtherest wall from him.

He groaned, even if there wasn't a lot of players in the game the NPC's really do love being livily everyday. Sometimes he forgets this is a game world.

He hopped off the stool and floundered over his bed, straightening himself infront of the door before opening it.

As he opened the door a punch landed on his rip, a young teenage girl with short orange hair and freckles jumped a bit from her spot in surprise.

"Sorry! I ment to knock on the door." She gave a blushing shy smile.

The traven was unnaturally quite as it also serves as a common resturant at the lower floor. So he looked across the hallway before turning back to the cute girl infront of him.

"What's up? Seems like there's something going on outside that this place went empty."

The girl nodded, pulling her hand off the man as she glazed at him in a daze.

"Uh, there's a public meeting for all hunters in the townsquare. You're a hunter right? I think you need to go there as well."

"I'll check it out. Thanks."

He closed the door behind him and unintentionally patted the girl on the head before racing down the stairs.

The girl went bright faced, frozen on her spot as she watched him disappear and rubbed her own hair. "Your welcome." She muttered.

The golden haired man jumped down the stairs and jogged pass the empty tables, waving at the woman cleaning them and the man behind the counter who looked similar to the girl upstairs.

"Equip costume 1" He whispered.

A coat of sparkling light washed over him and when he came out of the light he was wearing light armor made for a rogue class.

His speed instantly picked up and he vanish from the building, appearing behind a crowd of people somewhere in the more wealthier place of the town.

"And that's why I told you to prepare!" A shout roared on a high wooden plateform in the mist of the crowd of armored people.

Just about everyone here was a player, there were some NPC's hidden in the crowd but they seem to not get what was going on.

He looked around, wondering why everyone was heavily armored and tapped on a western style knight on his shoulder pad.

"What's going on?" He asked.

The knight opened a screen infront of him and moved it to the lightconductor, the post board of Arugo was in the screen. "Seems like this game is going to shut down. But the creators are going release an apocalypse of maxed level monsters, appearently even a goblin will be a level 5000." The knight sighted and closed the tab.

"I'm going to quit this game now." A person spoke beside the two.

"Same here. It's was cool when it lasted."

"See ya people!"

"Wanna play another game?"

The crowd disperse quickly, their gaming spirit easily broken as the news of an impossible wave will be coming in a few days time.

It was reasonable as not many were on the thousandth level, and some came here just to have fun, not to experience a slaughter.

"You going to stay for the final wave?" The knight ask as he still stood there with his back turned on him.

"Yeah, I practically invested 10 years of my life into this game so might as well go to the end." The golden haired man spoke sadly.

"Shit, ten years? I've been playing for only 6. Want to party up when the wave come?" He turned around with a party invitation.

"Sure. I've been wanting a partner." The name and level of the knight appeared on the invitation screen.

'Guardian Celeron Level 2410'

'Celeron has sent you a party invitation'

'Accept? Denie?'

He pressed accepted and both of their profiles came together in a box at the side of their sights..

Guardian Celeron (2410)

LightConductor Lythwyn (5000)

"Well I got to go now. See you later!" Celeron cheered before logging off.
