Chapter 124: Sector D – Region M98

The tunnels were glowing with different colors ranging from Grey to Blackish red. Zyrus learned that they were called “Sectors” which divided the battlefield according to player’s strength. They were ranked as D,C,B,A,S, And EX.

They corresponded to the level of enemies present on the battleground. There was no ‘system’ in this place, and as such, the grading of power was different. Players or as the people here called themselves– ‘Soldiers’ were graded from D to EX along with different military titles. The command structure was similar as well. The higher your rank, the more soldiers you could command.

Streit Bastion was a place where they received their missions and rewards. As it was the case where people gathered, there was a whole network of different guilds and companies that dealt with dispatch and crafting.

But it had nothing to do with him. He entered here through somewhat dubious means, so he couldn’t enjoy the perks that others did.

At least not yet.

“Have you decided?”

“Let me think about it,”

Zyrus ignored the lazy slime and carefully assessed his situation. The crux of his task was to fight on any of the sectors. What was infuriating was that since he didn’t have any clearance level, he was unable to obtain the information regarding the sectors. He was totally blind about what happened on the other side of the tunnel.

But it wasn’t like he didn’t have any guesses. One additional piece of info he had was the classification of threats in each sector. Hazard, Terror, Disaster, Calamity, Extinction and Oblivion.

It was easy to guess the enemies' powers based on the classification. And correspondingly, the players' strength who were dispatched to handle the threat.

‘Looking like that, the rings of the sanctuary and the main events can be tied to this as well,’

This was a lot of info to take in, but it was necessary. The events of the sanctuary were Crown hunt, Flag march, Throne Wars, Citadel conquest, and so on. This all painted a clear picture.

What if the rings of the sanctuary and its events were designed to train players for this? It was just a hypothesis, but if it was true then him being able to access all the sectors was a great favor.

“Alright, I'll go to Sector D,”

“Finally! Off you go,” the slime didn’t even wait for him to leave before rolling away.

Zyrus held the twilight crusher with both hands and walked towards the tunnel.

*Clack*Clack*

His footsteps echoed on the metallic floor. There was nothing in sight except for a gray light that flashed from time to time.

‘The space is folding once again,’

Zyrus realized that there was no end to this tunnel.

*Crrrrk*

And sure enough, he was teleported to a new region while walking. It was the highest level of spatial shift. Travelers wouldn’t even notice when or where they were teleported.

“…”

“…”

Zyrus stared at the knight clad in silver armor who was sitting behind a table. Of course, he was still holding his weapon with both hands.

“Ahem…is this sector D?”

“…”

The knight gave him a parchment that was placed on the desk without speaking a word. Zyrus took it and walked out of the door behind him.

‘Let me guess, I’ll teleport again in 3…2…1,’

*Crrrk*

‘Fucking knew it!’

This time, he was finally on a battlefield. At the entrance of one to be precise.

[Enter]

In front of him was a blue hologram-like wall that blocked his vision. Nothing else was written there except for the three lines above.

‘Let’s read it first,’

Zyrus unfolded the parchment to learn more about this place.

‘Nothing new except that guy? was called the Knight of The Crimson Sun,’

Zyrus placed the parchment in his pocket and clicked on 'Enter'. The blue wall fragmented into cubes of light, and what greeted him was a verdant forest.

[Eye of Annihilation]

[Fear]

*Grrrrrr*

*Buzzzzzz*

A forest brimming with giant insects. But instead of them, what held his vision was the sky above the forest.

A black sky with glaring sun in the middle of it. This was a place without atmosphere, and thus, both the sun, three moons, and countless stars were visible at the same time.

‘It’d be a lot more beautiful without these bastards,’

Zyrus gripped the twilight crusher and charged head first into a group of tri-horned beetles.

*Trrrrrekkk*

There were dozens of meter-long beetles with yellow exoskeleton and black horns. What made them different from normal beetles were the green pulsing veins that spread across their body.

*Thrust*

Zyrus clenched the reddish-white staff of the Goedendag and stabbed its tip into the beetle’s face. It was an epic weapon, and the beetle’s defenses were as good as nothing in front of it.

With the sound of a watermelon bursting apart the beetle’s head was pushed inside its armor. It was deader than dead.

*Teeeek*

*Trrrrrrkkk*

Without breaking his stance Zyrus swept and slashed with his twilight crusher. There was a big difference between a spear and Goedendag. Spears had nimble shafts and sharp tips, whereas the Goedendag’s shaft was built like a mace.

*Puchk*

As for its tip that was blasting apart the beetles, it was four feet long with half of it embedded on the staff and the other half was a conical edge like a lance’s.

Zyrus was like a giant playing with a bunch of dwarves. His strength and agility were perfectly utilized with a weapon like twilight crusher. Unlike spear, Goedendag could be used with brute force alone. It was an ideal weapon to smash apart anything on the way.

“Come on, it’s not even a warmup,”

*Buzzzzzz*

The insects heard his cry loud and clear. There were thousands of them just in his range of perception. Spiders that spewed webs like a water jet, mosquitoes that shrouded the sky, and worms that crawled on the moist soil…there were too many species to formulate a strategy.

‘So I’ll just smash 'em all,’

Hot blood pumped through his veins as Zyrus fought with pure stamina. 87 strength, 78 agility, and 80 vitality. It gave him a total of 829 stamina.

*Thwak*

Zyrus pierced through the tree truck and climbed by using the gap as a foothold. His jumping height was close to three meters, and another two were added when he used his weapon.

[Spear Aura]

Dozens of transparent spear tips shot out from the twilight crusher. The tree was five meters tall, and adding his vertical range, his total attacking height was 10 meters.

‘Add the range of spear aura, and I can fight low to mid-range aerial monsters,’

*Buzz-*

*Hmmzz-*

The swarm was torn into two halves. But it didn’t take more than 10 seconds before it was filled once again.

‘I’m glad I level up before coming here,’

Without using his mana or talents, he was able to fight so far with his physical stats alone. It was a tremendous feat.

Master of Sojutsu was a skill that optimized stamina usage when wielding spear-type weapons. Each attack consumed 1 point of stamina. Zyrus’s overall consumption was 150 stamina per minute due to his movement and jumps.

With his 30% stamina regen rate, he'd recover close to 250 stamina per hour or 4 stamina per minute.

‘Six minutes is my current limit,’

Zyrus stopped at the five-minute mark and changed his tactic. He was like an engineer who was testing a machine to measure different parameters. Only after collecting sufficient data could he form the most efficient battle strategy.

[Fear]

[Arcane Lance]

[Vortex Manipulation]

The insects scrambled away in fear, dozens of blue mana spears devastated the forest, and cyan water surged on the muddy soil.

*Krrrirk*

*Ribbbit*

*Grruk*

Zyrus stood on the pile of corpses and waved his hands like an orchestra conductor. 72 intelligence gave him a superhuman thinking speed. Coupled with his Abyssal attribute and more than 700 MP he could control mana within his perception range with ease.

Instead of getting exhausted, he was getting more and more energetic. There was no end to the number of incest, and neither was there a limit to mana he could control.

Fear drove away weak-willed enemies, arcane lance was a ranged attack that resembled an electric railgun, and last but not the least, vortex manipulation that transformed the forest into a marshland.

A lot of mana was required to use them as he wished. But this is where his abyss attribute came into play. By corrupting the pure mana in his vicinity he could use it as if it were his own.

‘I can go on like this forever…’

Zyrus wreaked havoc on the forest for almost an hour. Just when he was done testing the combinations of his physical and magical skills, a sudden change overcame the insects.

*KIhihhihi*

Eerie cackling resounded throughout the forest. The mana under his control went haywire and he was forced to halt his steps.

‘As expected, it’s a D ranked sector for a reason,’

Zyrus held the twilight crusher once more and welcomed the first adversary of this mission.
