Zyrus concentrated his strength on the spear's end and moved the shaft in an arc.

‘Not bad for starters.’
Although he managed to kill 3 in one strike, the rest of the Levifin had run away. Only wide area attacks worked on them as they moved very fast. If not for their paper-thin defense, they would’ve been invincible in the tutorial.

‘Tch this is too slow…’ Zyrus held back the spear and chased after fish like a nimble cat. He had just half an hour to earn points.
He slashed at the area where the levifins were about to pass by, but to his frustration, it only resulted in another 200P.
‘I suppose there’s only one way left,’ Zyrus shrugged and aimed for the golden levifin. He knew that his other methods wouldn’t work, so he had to follow the plan he created beforehand.
His taut muscles relaxed after he used 4 stat points on agility.
Bending his legs slightly, he channeled all his strength on the right hand. After calming down his breathing at a measured pace, he activated the Eye of Annihilation.
Zyrus's vision changed as he tracked the school of levifin. With a boost in his intelligence, he could discern their trajectory with ease.
His eyes emitted a red hue as he concentrated on the golden levifin. He saw its weakness despite it being far away, and with a fluid motion he threw his spear with all his strength.
The spear soared in the sky and skewered the golden fish like a harpoon.
‘Got you.’ Zyrus let out the breadth he was holding as he heard the kill notification
[Ding! You have killed a golden levifin!]
[+1000P]
[More levifin will approach you for the next 60 sec]
“Hahaha, I didn’t know there was such an effect.” Zyrus swept his spear left and right with renewed vigor. He didn't feel bad about losing his spear as he was getting better things in return.
‘If I had a skill like Lauren then I could practice for spear throw as well...’

Zyrus repeated the same process for another three times. He made full use of the 60 seconds while resting for 30 seconds in between. The 90 second cooldown for the Eye of Annihilation was utilized to its fullest.
*Huff*Huff*
‘Time to take it easy now…’ Zyrus panted for breadth while kneeling on the ground. It was thankful that the levifin didn’t have any attack powers, otherwise, he would’ve been chewed into pieces.
In these 15 minutes, Zyrus had earned enough points to buy everything he needed.
‘Might as well pick some for them…’ Zyrus scratched his chin as he looked at the exchange list. There were two decent items that he could get within the next dozen minutes.
After resting for a while, he once again started swinging his spear. He had already improved his thrust technique during his time on Earth, so all he needed now was to work on the other two.
He had to improve the basics on a fundamental level if he wanted to upgrade his Sojutsu skill.

Eventually, Zyrus had to use, or rather, throw away the remaining spears to get the required points.

‘Those brats better be grateful,’
The groups of levifin flew away in the sky as if they were a mirage to begin with. In just a moment, Zyrus was the only one left atop the mountain.
He clenched his fists in excitement as he saw the messages pop up one after another. The skills and items he could get in the tutorial were like trash compared to what he had in his prime, but the key here was the sense of progression and the satisfaction that came after achieving your goal, no matter how small it was.
[Congratulations! You have achieved Rank 1 in the event!]
[You have obtained the unique weapon “Bloodspine spear”]
[You have earned 21700P in the event]

Zyrus wanted nothing more than to claim the spear immediately, but he reigned his impulses and looked at the list below.

Looking at the items he could obtain with a flick of his finger, Zyrus couldn’t agree more with the saying, ‘Sometimes, it's not just about working hard; it's about being in the right place at the right time.’
“Even better, working hard at the right place at the right time.” Zyrus chuckled with contentment and exchanged for the items.
The Level Up card was an obvious choice, and he would need recovery potions and durability scrolls in the future as well.
He bought 3 of each and then bought the ‘Garnet Mail’ for Kyle and ‘Feather Boots’ for Lauren.
“Hmm, this should do it.” Zyrus nodded in satisfaction and claimed his spear as well.
Instead of directly showing up in his inventory, the delivery method for the spear was different.
Accompanied by a glaring flash of white and red, a bone spear floated in front of Zyrus. Although it wasn’t his first time seeing it, the spear made his heart flutter nonetheless.
It had a bone shaft which gave it incredible flexibility. Red runes were drawn on the shaft which stretched all the way to the spearhead, giving it an ominous look.
The spearhead had a sleek and sharp presence. It was made up of a special metal that looked like a mixture of Ruby and Quartz.
Zyrus bit his thumb and dropped his blood on the spear. The runes on the shaft lit up at once, and the spear disappeared from the air with a flash.
‘Finally, it’s time to roll the dice!’ Zyrus rubbed his hands as he looked at the last option with greedy eyes.
Unfortunately, he didn't see Aurora who was floating above him.
…
*Thunk*
“We aren’t lost are we?”
“For the hundredth time, NO. And stop throwing daggers everywhere.”
Lauren gave a skeptical look at Kyle and walked ahead with a grunt.
“Why didn’t you read the map then?” Kyle grumbled while cutting the branches on the way.
“That’s your job.”
“Is that so? What might your role be then, Mademoiselle?”
“I’m responsible for guarding the rear, and I cook.” Lauren retorted with her nose held high.
“Oh my! Are you referring to the culinary catastrophe we ate in the morning?”
Kyle ignored the life-threatening glare coming at his back and checked the area again. It had been two days since they separated from Zyrus.
They had collected the herb he was looking for on their way to the Sican plains.
“Be cautious, we are reaching the border.”
“Whatever,” Lauren looked away as if he was a dog poop on the road.
“Come on now, it was a joke! Didn’t I collect a lot of ores for you?”
“So what, you kept the big one for Zyrus.”
“Are you still jealous about that? Really?”
“Of course not. I’m not narrow-minded like you.”
Kyle, as always, was speechless after her unfair remarks.
*Rustle*
They saw the bushes move in the distance which made them halt their quarrel. Kyle signaled Lauren who was pulling out her knives to stand back.
After seeing her nod, he crept his way towards the bush.
He hid behind a trunk while keeping a close eye on his surroundings.
“Too slow.” Kyle heard a casual remark as he felt the cold metal on his neck.
“You’re just fast.” Lauren threw another knife at Zyrus, which, of course, missed the mark.
“You need to be more alert as well,” Zyrus spoke after putting his spear away.
“I’ll keep that in mind.” Kyle nodded with seriousness.
“You just wanted to show off your spear didn’t you?”
“Definitely.”
“At least pretend to be modest.”
Zyrus shrugged at her snide comments and asked in a matter-of-fact tone,
“Did you get the herb?”
“Here it is.” Kyle handed him a plant that looked like a bonsai tree.
Zyrus looked at the tree which had white Crystalline leaves on its obsidian branches with satisfaction.
It was called ‘Shadowbloom’, a plant which despite its noble appearance contained a vast amount of demonic mana.
“What does it do?” Lauren asked while staring at his hand.
“I can’t tell you the specifics, but it’s useless for humans.”
Lauren looked at the plant in disappointment, but she failed to notice the look of shock and horror on Kyle’s face.
“Are you planning to-”
“Mhm. You’re quite sharp.” Zyrus looked at Kyle who was staring at him with egglike eyes and asked,
“So, have you decided whether you want to follow me or not?”
“Of course we will, right?” Lauren nudged Kyle who was standing like a puppet.
“Right, for better or for worse.” Kyle replied with a sigh, however, his eyes were still full of trust.
Zyrus couldn’t stop the surge of warmth in his heart as he looked at them.
‘It’s not so bad to have companions eh?’
“Alright then. Welcome to the team.” Zyrus gave them a smile and held his fist forward like the last time.
He wanted to give them the items he bought regardless of their decision, but it had a different meaning now.
“Wow! It looks so cute! Thanks for the present,” Lauren was thrilled after she saw the transfer notification when she bumped her hand.
“We’ll work hard.” Kyle replied in a composed manner, but from his curved lips it was apparent that he was just as happy.
They knew about their weaknesses, but they lacked the means to fix them in the short term. What Zyrus gave them were precisely the crucial things they needed, things that increased their chance of survival by a lot.
“Stop grinning and give him the ore,” Lauren teased Kyle who was checking out his armor.
“What did you find?” Zyrus asked Kyle who was coughing awkwardly.
Kyle took out an ash colored rock, and looking at that, Zyrus was gobsmacked once again. He didn’t expect much when he asked about it as he knew about all the good items in the tutorial.
‘Comparison kills huh?’
He didn’t get anything except the lowest possible reward from the mystery box, while here he saw an item that had less than 0.1% drop rate.
‘Who cares… it’s mine anyway. Besides I only opened the box 9 times. One more and I would’ve gotten something much better than this. Yup, Definitely.’
Zyrus convinced himself to mend his fragile ego and looked at the item description.
