Chapter 7 - Grimchester Workshop (Part B)

James: Can I have all types of bombs you have? One bomb each.

Elf: There are different costs for each bomb as some of the materials are either easy to find or hard to get.

James: How many types can I get with 10 gold coins?

Elf: I would say 5 or 6 types if you want the expensive ones, cheap ones would be 1 gold coin for every 2 types.

Ophelia: Sir, I highly suggested you should get the cheap ones.

Ophelia suddenly spoke mentally inside James's mind.

James's thoughts: Why?

Ophelia: That's no need to waste gold coins on the expensive ones as the cheap ones will be enough for element extraction.

James's thoughts: Hm....

Elf: So are you buying or not?

The elven girl said while watching James absorbed in his thoughts.

James: I will take the cheap ones.

Elf: Are you sure? The expensive ones are more efficient and less faulty than the cheap ones

James: I have no problems with the cheap ones.

Elf: If you say so...

The elven said while she walked to another shelf where her height could reach with a wooden tray.

Elf: There you go. Hand-bomb, Smoke bomb, Poison bomb, Flash bomb, Sound bomb, Sleep bomb, Stink bomb, Oil bomb, Shock bomb, Acid bomb, Shard bomb, Frost bomb, Paint bomb (red), Paint bomb (blue), Paint bomb (green), Paint bomb (white), Paint bomb (black), Paint bomb (yellow), Paint bomb (purple) and lastly Paint bomb (pink).

James: Looks like you have a lot of paint bombs.

Elf: Well, they are often sold to the training camp for practice. Now it reminds me. Have you gotten an adventurer's license? You know you can have a discount for these items if you are a registered adventurer.

James: No, I have not. It seems I am required to pass the combat test so I went for the merchant's license instead.

Elf: Combat test? I don't remember there was such a requirement for getting an adventurer license. I suppose times are changing. The last time I remembered the requirements for getting a merchant's license was to have the ability to count and remember the value of items. Were there any changes to the requirements?

James: There was one additional requirement that I have to complete one of the trade quests given by the Merchant Guild.

It was that very trade quest where James meet Corn's parents.  If James did not receive help from Corn's parents, he would not be able to complete that simple trade.

The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.

Elf: I guess we are fellow merchants and you know there is no discount between merchants, so do you like to complete your purchase?

The elven girl smiled as she said.

James: No, I like to have replacements for the Poison bomb, Flash bomb, Sound bomb, Shock bomb, Frost bomb, Paint bomb (red) and Paint bomb (yellow). I have no need for them. What shards does the Shard Bomb contain?

Elf: Small broken pieces of metal blades.

James: Then I will also want a replacement for that.

Elf: Hmm... give me a moment

The elven girl walked back to the same shelf with her wooden tray.

Elf: Here are the new replacements, Paint bomb (orange), Paint bomb (brown) and Paint bomb (gray). This remaining bomb, the Void bomb, is one of my experimental bombs.

As the elven girl pointed at a corked black crystal flask on her tray as she spoke

James: Experimental?

Elf: The bomb core is made from an energized nova crystal that would create a mini black hole vortex which in turn temporary pulls everything nearby to its core before disappearing after a few minutes.

James: How did you get your hands on that?

Elf: I managed to get it while doing an investigation quest on the death of crystal miners. This bomb is still experimental as the pulling force of the vortex is not that strong for an overweighted wagon-sized monster. Say, does this worth your replacement?

James: It will do. Wouldn't that energized nova crystal cost you a lot?

Elf: Not much if it is not energized. Re-energizing a nova crystal is much cheaper and easier. With that said, I don't have any other types of bombs to sell. Would you like to have potions in replacement?

James: Cheap potions will do.

The elven left her wooden tray on the counter and took out another wooden tray from the back of the counter table.

Elf: Here you go. Red potion, blue potion, green potion and white potion. Red potion is for healing and can be either drank or applied to wounds. Blue potion is for re-filling of magic power and can only be drank to be effective. Green potion is for curing poisons and can also be either drank or applied to the affected wounds. Lastly, White potion is for cleansing any wounds that are hit by cursed objects or undead magic. Similarly, it can be either drank or applied to affected wounds. The red, blue and green potions have an additional stamina recovery effect if drank. The white and red potion have positive effects on the undead if thrown on them.

James: I would want to complete my purchase.

Elf: I don't think you can carry these much on your own. Would you like to have a dimensional handbag to carry them?

James: Wouldn't that cost extra?

Elf: Treat it as a gift from a fellow merchant.

The elven girl spoke while she packed James's purchases into the brown handbag.

James: Wait, I also have a gift for you too.

James's thoughts: Ophelia, can you generate a Wooden Doll card?

Ophelia: Generated. the card "Wooden Doll" has been added to the Inventory.

James pretended to reach into his pockets for something and draws the card from the Inventory.

James: Same here, a gift from a fellow merchant.

James said while handing over a card to the elven girl. To summon or un-summon it, just say "Summon Wooden Doll" or "Return Wooden Doll".

Elf: That's an Interesting card you got there. Fine, I will take it.

The elven girl spoke as she looked the at the card that shows a picture of a wooden faceless doll.

James: So can I have my stuff?

As James spoke, he placed the 10 gold coins on the counter.

Elf: Oh sorry, I was engrossed in the makings of your summon card. here's your bag. Please do come by again.

The elven girl hands the bag to James and said.

James: See you then.

James left the shop and the elven girl continues to play around with the summon card.

Elven girl: Summon Wooden Doll!

A wooden doll appears before the elven girl.

Elven girl: Come along, we got work to do.

Before the elven girl could leave the counter with the wooden doll,  someone barges into the workshop.

????: Teacher, I am sorry to be that late. I was so engrossed....Eh?

The girl in her early twenties who barged in noticed a wooden doll standing next to the elven girl.

????: Teacher, what is that?

Elf: Oh, Meet our new companion. She will be with us for a long time. Oh, yes. There will be a cut in your pay for being late today.

????: EHHH!?
