Eminos returns with a leather bounded book that had a thickness to it whilst giving off the aged feel.
He slightly blows the dust off the cover, a feature showing it had not left the shelves for a long period of its life.
After making sure most of the dust was cleared away at the side with light brushing, Eminos sits down again at the table and places the book in front of us.
The book appears to have survived for centries yet have kept it's condition, the heading is also very legible except for the language, the words are written in a slightly different manner, is this a different language?
Before I could ask, it seems the question is about to be answered anyways as Eminos explains the book to us and to Milia in specific.
“This is actually an old magic manual I used back when I learned magic from my master, my master was actually an Elvin magician. This is written in old language text however it should still be readable as the language did not change too greatly from our modern tongue. You should most likely work out most of the meanings since only a few letters are different to our modern tongue. I shall gift this to you young lady, this should help you train your wind attribute magic. It also includes notes and additional chapters I have added throughout the years.”
Eminos slides the book towards Milia, and Milia with a pair of anticipating eyes stares at the book.
“Are you sure I can have this Eminos?”
“Hohoho, no problems at all, it was a quite common textbook back in those days. Ever since I have mastered all the magic spells over the centuries, I no longer need it, it was merely a study material to me. I also have no offsprings who use Wind magic like me to pass onto. Therefore it is just collecting dust in the book shelf.”
“Thank you so so much!”
Milia joyfully replied.
“No need to thank me, hohoho, if I had great granddaughters, I hope they turn out eloquent like you.”
“Hehehe.”
It’s good seeing Milia happy rather than sad.
“Although I do have a great grand nephew who is- nevermind that for the time being...
Now then before I left to retrieve the book we were talking about?”
“Ah yes, you answered my question about if Dracoren race used a single element, since my mentor did only use light element magic, he said I had the ability to learn it but Ogrekins usually only have two attributes of Fire and sometimes Darkness. He said I was a peculiar case when he took me in.”
“Hmmmm, I do not know too in depth about your race, perhaps you might have to seek an elder from the Ogrekin clans or a historian perhaps. But I can sense that you have a unique composition, maybe it is what allowed you to pick up more than your original affiliated magic elements.Your mentor probably already knew this and this was probably also the reason your mentor had taught you magic in addition to your original affiliated magic.”
“I see, my mentor did teach me the basic fire and dark magic that I am able to use right now, however they are at most intermediate level. But in that case, will I be able to learn more elements?”
“That I can not guarantee young man, however it does not hurt to try. Just study that textbook along with the young lady and see if you can pick up anything.
This story has been stolen from Royal Road. If you read it on Amazon, please report it
Also since our conversation have begin, I am curious, what is your mentor’s name?”
“Ah, I simply called him Master Ravios, but he had named me since I was born an orphan so I do not know if the last name he had chosen for me is the same as his own, but my surname is Drakus.”
“Hohoho, what a pleasant surprise, it is indeed the same surname as your mentor has, be joyed, this must mean your mentor cared for you as if you were his descendant.”
“Ah, definitely! I always saw him as a grandpa figure myself, aside from being my master mentor.”
“Very good, very good.”
Eminos pauses a short while before continuing as he strokes his beard.
“Hohoho Ravios Drakus, he was my classmate so to speak, we studied at the same village school as children. Ah this is much before the Elvin master I met, we Dracoren stayed at Dracoren villages before turning adult at age of 16, afterwards we set out to find masters to study under ourselves. Depending on one’s choice, the element the master will teach, is to be one of the elements we are compatible with.
I often met Ravios at different times around the world, since after we finished out mastery of the magic element we are left with, we would take on our own disciples or simply travel. The times we would have last seen each other could be separated by decades or even centuries. The last time I met my old friend was just over 100 years ago, I see he is still live and kicking hohoho.”
“Yes, before I left on my journey he was still quite lively and active. I’m sure he would be still”
“That is good news, perhaps I will pay him another visit.
Now then I have given… if I remember correctly Milia?”
Milia responds with a yes to Eminos trying to clarify our names,
“A book with magic she can learn and train from, also Aras might be able as well, however Aras, I am unable to teach you any flame or darkness magic beyond intermediate as well, so you might have to continue your training under another master.”
“The magic manual you have given us is plenty, I already did not expect anything as great as this when we just came to have tea.”
“Aras is right! This is amazing, I could tell even just by lightly going over a few of the pages.”
Milia quickly supports my statement.
“Hohoho, that is good, now then the other young lass, what is it you are compatible with?”
Switching topics now, Eminos directs the question towards Daami who he might have felt to be left out.
“The powerful water magic!”
“Hohoho, quite a lively magic for a lively girl, however I do not have anything here that will assist you with that element. But I am sure you will find someone who can teach you also.”
After he wasn’t able to help Daami out with her magic training, Eminos appears to have gone into deep thought as he strokes his long beard.
After a short while, displaying a reaction of coming to some sort of conclusion, he gets up and goes to fetch something.
“Perhaps…”
A small mutter is heard, leaked under his breath as he leaves the table once again.
~*~
Once he returned, he had in his grasp a small pendant with a gem in the centre.
“Now I have a request of sorts for you young adventurers, but before you hear this request of mine, I would like to check to make sure, Aras, are you truly Ravios’s disciple, did he ever leave you anything that you could produce as an identification or proof? If you truly are a disciple of my friend, I can certainly trust you with this request of mine.”
“Hmm I do have this but I’m not sure if this can be of any proof, I was given a lucky charm as a sort of protection.”
I take out from my belongings a small ring, too small to go on a finger but it is threaded through a chain to form a necklace.
“I was given this as a child from my mentor, I do not know what it does but I have kept it with me all these years. It also has a weird inscription inside but I could not read it.”
I show the charm to Eminos.
“Hooh I do feel Ravios’s magic aura coming from this, this is probably something he created himself, what it does exactly I do not know but a lucky charm would not be wrong to assume.”
Eminos looked at the small ring closely before becoming satisfied with the item.
“This is more than enough justification that you are a disciple of Ravios. Now then, please listen to my request, it is a simple request, basically find a certain someone for me…”
