Chapter 19: Operation Scare Tactic (1)

At the mansion, 30 min before midnight.

Back on the wide streets of the rich district, we are currently at sidewalk behind a large tree and shrubs surrounding it.

There seems to be night time guards as suspected, and everything else seems to be normal. The street was extremely quiet which means we must be careful not to make much noises.

“(Ok Daami, ready the rabbit.)”

She opens her rucksack and-

“Achooo!”

“!”

“!”

“!”

“(Daami!? Did you just sneeze?)”

“(I’m sorry! When I opened the bag bits of rabbit fur fluff got in my nose and I couldn’t help it.)”

Uh oh, looks like the guards are looking around for the noise, we have to release the rabbit right now and just make a gamble. Hopefully they will not think too deeply after getting distracted by the rabbit.

“(Just quickly release one of the rabbits!)”

“(Alright alright)”

A rabbit hops out of the shrubs and starts hopping around on the street.

The magic powered street lights only aluminates the areas faintly around them, but not every part of the wide street.

“Ah it was just a rabbit.”

“I thought I heard a sneeze to be honest.”

“Hang on, that rabbit looks a bit odd?”

One of the guards begin moving closer to the street to survey the unknown rabbit.

“It’s an undead rabbit! It’s considered a monster.”

“What? An Undead here in this district? How did it make its way in?”

“Who knows, but hey, do you think we can eat it? I'm awfully hungry. A bit of a late night snack or something.”

“Are you being serious man? it's a monster, an undead monster! as if we can eat it!”

"Hey you'd never know if you don't try my friend, undead means its not dead yea? and not dead = alive = live rabbit meat!"

The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.

"What kind of logic is that!? do you think with your stomach or something? surely you're not that hungry."

"Well..."

The rabbit was dressed with bits of organ and painted blood on its fur so you could mistake it as an Undead Rabbit at night. However...

“(It doesn’t seem like they took the bait Aras? They are just talking.)”

“(It’s ok, let’s just wait a bit longer.)”

Come on, come on, are they not going to investigate the bush rabbit?

What the heck are they even talking about anyways, go catch that 'monster' rabbit.

“But still, I think we should catch it-"

"Heeh, finally came around huh? alright shall we roast it or make a rabbit stew."

"Shut up you! we need to investigate it atleast because what if that Undead Rabbit sneaks into the mansion and gets found out by our Lord, Sir Bellado. With his temper we would be punished severely, probably no pay for several months.”

“I suppose you’re right, I do have to feed my family not just me, I can’t afford to not get paid. Alright let’s go~”

"(I'm suprised this guy even thinks about his family...)"

Finally, looks like the guards have finally made a move to chase after the rabbit, leaving their posts.

And so, shrouded by darkness, after watching the guardsmen move away, we sneak towards the fence.

“(What now Aras? Are we going to climb it?)”

“(No, it has spear tips all across the top, also there is no need, watch this.)”

I quickly used a small scale fire magic ‘Ignite’, often used to light fires, against the metal bars.

I slowly heated up the bars on the fence until they begin to slightly glow. Next I pulled out pieces of hide from the deer, put a piece on each hand and started to pull the bars.

The bars, softened by the heat, started to bend and a large gap is formed.

“(Oh amazing Aras! In we go!)”

“(Hey be careful! The bars are still hot.)”

After successfully made our way inside the mansion grounds, I turned to check on the guardmen’s movements. They seem to have finally caught the rabbit and making their way back. However we are already making our way to the back of the mansion out of their sights, also the broken bar entry we made was at the far corner near one of the brick walls, so the guards should not notice it in the dark.

“(Ok Daami, before we go inside, go roll around in the dirt in the garden.)”

“(Wha-!)”

Oh so it's a speechless jaw drop reaction eh?

“(N-no way! You go roll in the dirt!)”

“(Hey keep your voice down!)”

“(I. am. not. rolling. in. dirt!)”

“(Alright alright, just rub some dirt on your dress then, it needs to look dirty.)”

“(... fine.)”

Maybe i shouldn’t tease her too much, we might give away our position.

“(Ok done, what’s next?)”

“(Well we have to find where the slave girl is and get her to let us in.)”

“(How do we do that?)”

“(I think we should sneak up closer to the windows and peak inside.)”

As I was about to move up.

“(No way, that will take too long, I have a better idea.”

A pebble hits one of the windows as she announces.

“...”

“(You idiot! What are you doing!? We will get discovered!)”

“Relax Aras, it's just a small pebble. Hmmmm although it doesn’t seem like there's any movement.)”

She readies another, this time a rock slightly larger than the previous pebble.

Before I could stop her, she throws it at the window once again, this time the impact was a bit louder.

“...”

“(We are doomed… the plan is over, what should we do… escape?)”

While I covered my head and was struggling to accept the stupid actions by Daami, a movement is seen and the window started to open.

“(Hahaha, see Aras? Easy peasy.)”

“(You just got lucky!)”

*smack*

As Daami rubs her head we head towards the window that was opened only to meet the slave girl at the otherside.
