A Few days later.
“Hey Aras, hey Aras…”
Daami rubs her eyes in a tired manner as she staggers closely behind me during the morning.
“Are we there yet?”
“You’re asking me this? You’re the one telling me if we go in this direction we will reach the closest city!”
“Yea well I’m tired…”
“What kind of excuse is that!?”
~*~
Just before we fell a sleep last night.
“Just so you know Daami, I have no idea where to go, I was actually lost before I met you, I was just wandering around afterall.”
“That’s ok, I know the closest city is northwest of here, after all I did see it in the distance once while hunting with grandpa.”
“So you say, well you can show the directions tomorrow.”
“Leave it to me!”
~*~
And now here we are. On a beautiful clear morning, the girl who is supposed to be leading the way, showing the direction, is lazing behind me instead.
After about 2 hours of walking we finally see stone walls in the distance.
Daami suddenly runs past me and starts a commotion, pointing in the direction of the walls and waving.
“Ah see! see! I told you there was a city here!”
“Yeah I can see that, also I never actually doubted you…”
I saw some cities in the distance within the sea of forests back when I came down the mountains.
“Ah! while we are here, we are Humankinds ok? Your skin colour is slightly pale but if you explain how you lived isolated in the mountains maybe they will accept it. Your red eyes are not common however there are some Humankinds who had it, I remember seeing a kid from the village having similar coloured eyes.”
If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
“That’s reasonable, I was planning that at the start.”
“I didn’t know you were so smart.”
Daami is smirking…
“why you…”
“Hahaha let’s go!”
As she runs off, we hurried off to the gates.
~*~
“Hello travellers, what business do you have in Mabrosa today?”
One of the 3 guards positioned at the gate approaches and questions us.
The remaining 2 guards are firmly standing next to each side of the gate itself.
“(Let me handle this, I have interacted with humankind before)”
Daami whispers to me before replying.
I have a bad feeling about this…
“Hello there sir guardsman! We are no one suspicious, I’m a hunter from a village and he is my travel companion who I just met, a wanderer. We wish to enter the city and sell some harvested material at the Adventurer's Association.”
“Hmmm, you don’t seem to be lying. Very well, present your identification cards please.”
“Here’s mine sir.”
She hands over a card to the guard as she beckons me over with a wave.
“I see, so your ID does show you are a hunter by trade, you didn’t seem to lie, and I see your name is Daam Az. Is that correc-”
“Pfffft…”
Oh no, there’s no way I could hold that in, why is her name on her card ‘Dumb Ass”.
This is way too stupid!
“(Quit that! I know my name is long so grandpa made my name on my ID card shorter when he registered me! You’re being rude!)”
Daami whispers as she elbows me from the side.
The guard looks slightly irritated from the interruption, I’d better stop. And so holding in my laughter.
“My name is Aras, I’m a wanderer as Daam has said, however I do not have an ID card as I lived only with my mentor deep in the mountains as a child.”
“I see, this could be a problem, you will have to come with us for a moment. You there, take him in!”
“Yes sir!”
One of the guards guarding at the gate comes up and grabs me by the arm, taking me away.
Wait wait wait, why am I getting taken away! I was the one messing up? Is it because I don’t have an ID card?
“Ah mr guardsmen!”
Ohh,good job Daami! Help out your pal!
“Is he dangerous? I only just met him myself but i thought he was a good person...”
WHY ARE YOU DOUBTING YOURSELF! WHAT ABOUT THAT STORY YOU TOLD ME! WASN’T THAT A KIND OF STORY YOU’D ONLY TELL SOMEONE YOU TRUSTED?
“No, guard sir! I’m not a bad person! I am honestly a traveler, I’m not suspicious!”
“Relax kid, we are taking you to the office to get a record of your name and a fingerprint on the documents, later you can register an ID at a government office, or easier at the Adventurer’s Association if you want to be an Adventurer instead.”
“Fuuu- that's a relief.”
Why are you the one relieved! Stupid Daami.
“I understand, thank you sir. And Daam.”
Daam stiffens after hearing her name in a cold voice.
“I’ll see you afterwards.”
Yes. I’ll deal with you later.
