Chapter 5

This Isn’t My World, And It Pisses Me Off

Chapter 5

“PAH!” Ikari coughed, having drank his twentieth potion in the space of 10 minutes. The smallest starting enchantments had left, but the bigger ones had stayed and made up for it.

“Ok, now that Lavender Milk has lost all meaning.” He sighed, looking to his ring. “Ring Stats.”

“It’s not even 20!” He yelled, staring at the small screen. Ikari made several gestures, as though he wanted to strangle the notification. In the end, he sighed, falling into a small wooden chair and hanging his head back.

“Damn it.” He frowned, staring at the wooden ceiling. He wondered what was above him briefly, before deciding that moping around wouldn’t help him get home any sooner. A yawn came to him, which he covered with a hand.

“Maybe this place has something like coffee. That’d perk me up.” At the mention of the word perk, a new screen popped up in front of Ikari, one he hadn’t seen before.

“What the…” He sat up, examining the screen.

He stared at the screen, looking at all of the perks he had available. They were probably the powers and skills this world had to offer. There were only a few, and some of them had odd names. “Wrathful Shout, Kind Touch, Replenish, Brewer.” He read out, then squinted at the third one and clicked it.

He thought for a second. “A potion isn’t the whole glass, it’s the liquid.” He reasoned. He tapped his foot for a moment, working through a few things in his head.

“Uh, get perk?” He tried. There was a Ding! sound, and Ikari felt foreign knowledge enter his head.

He realised what he could do, and quickly made another potion. Instead of drinking it straight away, he looked for the smallest measurement he could find. After a moment, he found what would have been the equivalent to a shot glass.

He carefully poured the potion in, and then set it down. He stared at the lavender liquid, and sighed. “I hope this works.” He threw the shot into his throat, and checked his ring stats.

“Ok, that was expected. Now.” He held the shot glass out in front of him. “Replenish!”

A small trickle of purple flowed from the bottom of the glass upward, stopping when it was filled. Ikari felt odd, a bit emptier. “That must’ve been the Mana.” He stopped, blinking and staring at the potion.

“I just used magic. Haha” His voice cracked slightly during the laugh, but he shook it off and checked to see if his plan would work. He drank the shot and checked his ring once more.

He smiled. Because the Potion was being replenished from basically nothing, it counted as a created potion. “Oh yeah. It’s all coming together.”

“REPLENISH!”

....

“Gah. I’ve drank so much.” He had lost count, but he was pretty sure he was somewhere around 70. “Wish I drank one less. Hah.” He shook his head, and raised his hand feebly. “Ring Stats.”

Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.

“HOLY SHIT!” Ikari exclaimed, reading the percentage. His previous exhaustion was completely forgotten. He breathed in and out rapidly, before looking around and trying to find what he needed.

He ran to the ingredients and grabbed a [Blue Butterfly Wing], A [Mana Flower] and a [Pinch Of Salt]. He shoved the ingredients in his pockets and slammed his hand on the Potion Bench. The UI popped up and he put the correct items, and hit [CRAFT].

A short moment later, a bright blue bottle was on the bench. Hesitantly, he picked it up.

“YES!” He exclaimed, smiling widely. His smile faltered slightly when he read it was only for a single enchantment. “Wait. I have Replenish.” The gears in his brain turned, and he burst out of the room, looking around for the nearest servant.

A young girl with black pigtails, who was walking towards the room regardless jumped as the door opened. Ikari spied her and quickly ran up. “Where is the enchanting room? Where can I enchant stuff?” He asked rapidly.

The girls bright blue eyes looked startled, before point to a large wooden door. “Up one floor and the second door on your left.” She said as though it were rehearsed.

Ikari smiled widely, previously white teeth now slightly stained purple. “Thank you!” He ran off to the door and quickly ran up the spiral staircase. Despite his rush, he was extremely careful with the potion in his hand.

He landed on the next floor and immediately saw the enchanting room he had requested. The door was black and had some odd arcane pattern on it, but he had no time to pay attention.

He entered the room, immediately noting the seven sided table that held several mystic looking items. He placed a hand on it, and saw another screen appear.

It was similar to the Potion Making Menu in some regard, but he didn’t bother thinking about it. He had to figure out how to enchant, and now!

He checked where [Known Potions] would be on the Potion screen. There was a similar section titled [Known Enchantments], but it had nothing under it aside from a small box.

Ikari leaned in to better read it. “You do not know any Enchantments. Enchantments can be learned by studying or by placing an already enchanted item on the [Enchanting Bench] and sacrificing the current power.”

So he would have to give up his Alchemy Ring, in order to learn how to make an Alchemy Ring. He stared down at the golden ring with a single ruby.

“It’s a risk I’ll have to take.” He slipped off the ring and placed it on the table. Immediately, the ring showed up in the menu. He selected it.

His finger waved over the selection, before steeling himself. “Yes.” The ring sparked briefly with what looked like electricity, before fading. Ikari picked up the ring. The ruby looked duller.

He slipped the ring into his pocket, as if thanking it for all it’s done. He focused on the menu. Under [Known Enchantments] there was now a set of words. [Boost Alchemy] was written, so Ikari selected it.

“The requirements are, 30 Mana for an enchant?” No special ingredient or anything, just Mana. He was surprised to say the least. “Well, I have 100. So I can enchant three things.” He looked at his clothing, trying to figure out what to enchant.

His watch? No, it might break the electric component somehow. His bracelet? Maybe… but he would keep trying. “I could re-enchant the ring…” He thought, before figuring that because an enchantment had been broken from it, it might not be able to hold another.

“Wait, ring.” He reached into his hoody’s pocket and produced three different rings. The three rings the Nobles gave him! “Hah!” He celebrated, putting one ring down and drinking from his potion.

The screen came up, describing the Enchantment. When he checked earlier it said the base enchantment was 15%, now however…

“One hundred and forty eight…” He read out in awe. “Times three is... four hundred and forty four.” A smile came over his face.

“Ato, that Demon King is going down, then it’s your turn.” He looked to the menu and selected the [Boosted Alchemy] enchantment. He practically slammed his finger through the [CREATE] button, and watched as magic sparks struck the ring.

The sparks faded, and the ring’s gem glowed brightly, before returning to normal. Just to be certain, Ikari slipped it on his finger and checked. “Ring Stats!”

“Nice.” He smiled, and held up his empty potion. “Replenish!”

He completed the process twice more, and checked the stats. “Three Rings Of Alchemy: 148%. Total Enchantment Power: 444%.” His fist clenched in victory, though it was a bit hard to do so as the rings weren’t all the one size and bumped off each other.

“And now, to do something very important.” He replenished the [Boosted Enchantment] potion one more time, then slipped it into the hoodie.

“I really need to pee.”
