4. Another world

“So, how was it?” I let out a disappointed and frustrated sigh, while I think I may now be the smartest man on Earth, I am still disappointed that I haven’t finished the piles of books sitting on the table. “I see, oh well don’t hate yourself too much about it. As long as you got the basics of the basics then we are good to go. Let us move on to magic” I stretched out my arms while still sitting in a chair.

“All right then, but why do I have to learn all this stuff first before learning magic?”

“Because it is absolutely worthless if your spells will not hit them since they are four dimensions or more. Plus, do you want to teleport inside a mountain or in the void of space?” Fair argument.

“Let’s start with the basics first, hold out your hand and summon a fireball” Huh? How can I even do that? Do I sacrifice my body mass to generate energy? Jay for some reason looked at me as if I was a weirdo. Then his face just changed as if he had a realization.

“Hold on, I am going to fix something” He did nothing. Suddenly I felt something change inside of me. It was like a connection to the world outside of my body.

“Turns out I put a curse on you a few years back, a curse that I forgot to release. Oh well, it happened.” Have I met this guy? I scanned my entire memory, but the only thing I remember about this guy before I met him a month ago was going to the mirror to take a look at my face, and that was only because our faces looked similar. “Never mind then, forget about making a fireball. Just boil this water up using magic” A kettle appeared on his right hand and he gave it to me.

“This is the most basic of the basics in magic, I’d be disappointed if you somehow failed at this.” I took the kettle from his hand and noted inside my head that there was water inside

“Sure, but what is the point of all this?”

“What do you think is the point of this?” He answered my question with a question. I remained silent for a couple of seconds to think. Why do I have to use mana to boil water?

“To turn mana into energy?” That must be it, materializing mana in the real world. But changed and began looking at me as if I was an idiot

“No, are you a dumbass? To make tea obviously.”

"..."

"..."

I just stared silently at him with my jaw slightly hanging in disbelief

?

He began laughing while holding his chest

“Just kidding, yes. Now begin”

I placed both of my hands around the body of the kettle, and there was this feeling that made me able to control mana. Perhaps this is what he fixed? I can’t explain it, it is like just there by instinct.

*phisssssssssh. A gust of steam made out of its way from the kettle’s spout. I do not know how many minutes it took to boil it, but I still felt satisfied that I did it.

He took the kettle from my hands, wait... From my hands. I looked at my hands and noticed that they were perfectly fine. I was holding the kettle at its body, and yet why had I not felt a thing when they were hot? He put his hand in his pocket and took out two tea bags. Two cups then materialized floating in front of him.

“Tea?”

“Sure”

It was the greatest tea that I ever tasted. What kind of tea was it even?

“Now then, the next step is for you to create a sphere of water or dihydrogen monoxide. But unlike normally, you will create it by changing heat into mass. Begin.” I put the cup of tea away and began thinking about how I should do it. I got the gist of what he said. Changing mana into energy, then turning that energy into mass.

“I messed up” I heard him mutter something under his breath, but I ignored it.

I was about to begin my experiment but then-

“Do you want to go to another world with me?”

“For what reason?”

“You might want to look for yourself how deities act and change their surroundings” I see no reason to refuse such a good offer, and so I accepted it. I nodded my head and we were teleported into a void, this time pure darkness. Where even are we? Am I dead? I grabbed my left elbow with my right hand to confirm if I was still alive or not, thankfully I could feel it so I was still alive.

Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.

Huh? I can suddenly see everything all around me. Countless beings were all around us, what the hell was happening? But it seems they were not moving, perhaps this was a birthday party? Wait, they were not moving, not even a single bit.

“Oh, I just made a time-bubble for each of them so time is stopped for them”

“I thought they can’t be affected by any time-altering methods?”

“Huh? Who told you that? Definitely not me.” Perhaps I misunderstood what he said, or I was imagining him saying something. “The strongest guy here has 1 thousand and three hundred seventy dimensions, the rest have less dimensions than him. So all I have to do is cast a time bubble that has 1371 dimensions, and most of them will get hit by the spell”. I put the word “most” in the back of my mind.

“Oh, it is inevitable that some can be unaffected by the time bubble if the dimensions are still small even if the time bubble has more dimensions than them. That can be done by law manipulation, with it you can manipulate the laws of your surroundings and even entire dimensions”

“I see, then why is it that no one is moving?”

“Because the dimensions for the time bubble I cast is not 1371 but exactly 100 thousand. That way, it is guaranteed that everyone is affected” I took note of this information, that the bigger the dimension, the harder it is to be unaffected. But it is now time to address the elephant in the room

“So, what are you doing here?” I used the word “you” because he was the one who put us here.

“There is some cleaning I have to do. And by cleaning, I meant cleaning up my mess.”

“What mess?” He pointed at a random angle that I had to squint my eyes where he was pointing. But there definitely was something there, just looking in that direction managed to hurt my brain.

“That thing there that is hurting your brain is one of my trash that I did not manage to dispose of properly. You know the saying “one man’s trash is an another man’s treasure”?” I’m pretty sure it is “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure”

“Yes, why?”

“That is what is happening here, I just threw a time staff I made on a random planet and forgot to destroy it.”

“What is so bad about it?”

“That staff controls time, and it also has eleven thousand dimensions." I was still not understanding what he was saying, was it really that bad? "Geez, I wonder what is so bad about it?” He said with a sarcastic tone. Wait, assuming my thinking is right, and what he said by another world, that would mean changing a world's predetermined path creates another world

“Bingo. Unlike every other smaller verse, a world is different. The original’s world’s path is predetermined, and will create another one if something goes wrong.”

“Original one?”

“The world you are currently living in is the original one. It absolutely takes a lot of effort to change the original world’s predetermined path, having dimensions surpassing a billion” A billion? So a world has fewer dimensions than what it takes to change its predetermined path? That doesn’t make any sense.

“But why are they even creating new worlds?” There must be a reason, plus I noticed some of them looked the same. So they must have duplicated themselves.

“Just some stupid people who wish to eat me and take my powers.” He snapped his fingers suddenly and the people all around us disappeared. Did he erase them?

“Absolute death is what I used against them. A spell only I and my wife can use. When I use it on someone, it will kill their entire concept and history. They will die with absolutely no defence against it, and they will be forgotten since they never existed in the first place.”

“Do you think that I can ever learn that spell? What is the logic behind that spell?” I really wanted to learn a spell like that, just poof all of my problems.

“Well, if I give you access to using it, you might but it will still be difficult. But there is no chance I am giving you access to it. And as for the logic behind it…. Nope, there is no logic in the mana structure of the spell. Beings like me, can ignore logic and make spells however we want.”
