THE WORLD Is As Complex As It Can Be
22. A Hint An My Older Brother

22. A Hint An My Older Brother

"So- uuh..." I was about to ask what really had happened with Yang back then.... To get another perspective let's say... But I stopped after I felt a hand on my shoulder.

I turned my head around and saw my face, except the face had red eyes.... It was Jay. 'What was this timing?'

"You should really go back to my planet, there will be more targets in sixty, fifty-nine,..." He began a countdown, I wonder what would happen if it reached zero? He did say more targets, but didn't we do it just very recently?

"One, zero" He finished his countdown, and the moment his counting reached zero, I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket.

I reached for it and began to read the message. More targets.... This time there was a deadline. In 2 hours we must kill all targets. Failure to do so will be punished by humiliation and torture.

'what the hell? There was no deadline before."

Oh-, Mizy just sent me a message telling me to return to the hotel room we rented as soon as possible.

What happened in the empire? Was there a rebellion? A terrorist attack outside the multiverse?

"No good deed goes unpunished," Jay said with a smile. The good deed he was referring to was most probably me making a deal with him to end slavery

"Stare at the abyss, the abyss gazes back" While I understand the meaning of that quote, I wonder why he said that.

"Abandon hope, all ye who enter here" he continued spouting more quotes. Never mind, he probably was only saying them because they sounded cool to him. Did he read them on the internet?

"I have a dream. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself."

'okay, I am getting out of here!' He was just spouting random quotes he found on the internet. I was supposed to ask him what happened to this planet while I was gone, but I suppose that could happen at a different time.

I was about to teleport away using law manipulation, but Jay stopped me to say something to me.

"Don't ever speak of Yang with her, unless you want to get forcefully changed"

What does that mean? Also, how can he say that with Yin still in the same room and is most probably listening to our conversation? But knowing him, he probably wouldn't be affected by Yin.

"I see, noted" but still- I am really curious about what happened between Yin and Yang that made them really hate each other. I guess I will ask her later when I have spare time.

"If you are really that curious, make sure to get recognized as her sibling, then you can ask her." He read my mind. But what he said was a really good tip.

I think I got a good guess on what her ability is. It is changing someone who is shot by her. I wouldn't want to be changed, while I do have negative qualities, they make me "me" and I want to confront them myself.

And so, I quickly teleported back to the room that we had rented. This time by using law manipulation. Maybe I should just skip space manipulation and instead work on my law manipulation. Law manipulation can do anything that space manipulation can do even if I do not understand how it happened.

When I teleported back, I was met by Mizy's head. Huh? I looked down and she was just sitting on the floor with the couch just nearby. Was this because she wanted to look cool? If so, sitting on the floor to look cool seems odd. But I guess people have different tastes and cultures.

"Let's do the same as back then" I nodded my head. Oh right, I have to ask why she was sitting on the floor

"And may I ask why you were sitting on the floor?"

"To look cool obviously, the people of my planet sit on the floor to... let's say exude an aura of superiority."

"That's a joke right?" I had to make sure, what is up with this day? Sadly she shook her head. What is up with my jokes being mostly correct? Mostly because the part where we are relatives was a fake one. But, wait she still believes that huh? Maybe I should tell her the truth? I have a certain disgust for her father after all, maybe she can use that information to dethrone him?

'I guess I should tell her later, and maybe even set up a meeting with Jay and her.'

A magic circle formed beneath us and exploded into a bright light, afterwards, we killed all targets in an instant. Oh right right right! I should probably learn how to access the intersection.

"Jade, I am going to stay here for a while, who knows when the next task will arrive." She said while standing herself up and sitting on the nearby couch she could've used all along. "God, there are a lot of rebellions around the empire." She muttered in frustration while looking at her phone.

I am the cause of this, many people will die from this, but I really do believe I made the right choice. People should be free to choose who they want to be. And if the strong will bully the weak to take their freedom, then I am willing to take the bully's freedom through death. This is hypocritical of me, but that is just because of my emotions, feelings, and morals.

And so, I sent a couple thousand avatars throughout the omniverse, intending to fight with a concept or embodiment.

"Jade, why are you sending avatars?"

Huh? How did she know that I was sending avatars?

I suddenly felt a pain coming from my jaw. It blew up with a lot of mana and blood coming out of it.

There was an erasure curse. Luckily because of how many dimensions I have or rather because I am half celestial, it couldn't kill me. I don't know which one prevented me from dying, maybe both?

But finally..... It was that simple?

I immediately erased my avatars because my whole body exploded, which would be troublesome to clean.

"Why did you just randomly fight with other people?"

Oh right, she somehow knows that I was sending avatars. How?

"Don't ask, I just wanted to test myself" I lied, I think this was a better response than "Oh don't it, I just sent a couple of avatars to beat people up to potentially get beaten up, that way I can learn how to access the intersection"

Nevertheless, it was not too bad. Nobody got hurt.... Well apart from small bruises and damage to the soul, but it could be healed.

"Alright then" she replied with her two hands in the air. Now it was my turn to ask.

"How did you even know I was sending avatars out?"

She stared at me for a bit with a dumbfounded look.

"You haven't disconnected"

Oh.

I immediately disconnected from our connection.

I was about to ask her about what she thought about meeting Jay, but the vibrations from my phone were the first to come up. Oh well, I can ask her about it later.

This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report.

I took my phone out and it was a message from Obediah. No tasks for the whole 30 hours.

"Alright, I'm out Jade! See ya!"

Mizy disappeared from the sofa..... I should've asked her first.... I do not want to message her on the phone. If I do, what would she think of me? Plus why am I even thinking about her opinion!?

I was about to put my phone back in my pocket, but it vibrated once again. I looked over it and it was Yang messaging me asking where I was in all caps.

'oh right, Yang existed'

I teleported to my house using law manipulation and the first thing I saw in the living room was Yang lying on the couch while reading a book.

"I'm home"

"Finally... where were you? Anyways, can you make me some Mac and cheese? If you can't, just go to Earth and order some" he said in a monotonous voice. This boy just commanded me for some Mac and cheese, but I had no reason to refuse. After this week, I am free from him.

I never knew I would be thankful to schools, perhaps this is what parents felt when sending their kids to school. The feeling of freedom from kids.

"I'll just cook for both of us" I decided to spoil him for this day.

I was about to walk towards the kitchen but I took a glance at the book he was reading. The cover of the book was blank, I wondered how that book got Yang's attention, he always picked a book with a good cover. If he were a concept, he would probably be the concept of judging the book by its cover.

I stared at it for some more.... And more....

I felt something sticky near my lips. Blood just came out of my nose for no reason....

There is a soul inside that book!

I immediately blasted it with a soul-killing spell but it was stopped by a barrier that came from Yang who was not even looking.

He raised his head to look at me. I quickly used my physical prowess to run towards Yang and grabbed the book before he could even realise what had happened.

But before I could cast another soul-killing spell, the soul disappeared..... Odd.... Did it erase itself after being caught?

"What are you trying to do?" Yang asked me with a monotonous tone even after attacking him.

"Yang, there is a soul inside that book.... Where did you get that book!?"

He stared at me for a couple of seconds before asking.

"Can I have it back?" He said in a monotonous voice.

I do not know what he is thinking currently, was he angry because I randomly decided to destroy a book he was reading? Or did he believe what I had said? I reluctantly gave the book back to him and he continued reading....

He turned to the 4th page, it was blank. Why did he turn to that page? As I can remember, the pages on where he was at, looked to be in the middle.

"It no longer works...." Yang muttered something. What no longer works?

"I do not know how many dimensions you or this book has. Maybe only you can see something....." Wait, this book was valuable? Since it has many dimensions, it should cost an exponential amount of money to get it. Where did he even get this? Did he steal it?

"Let's inquire for more information" Our background immediately changed to that of a bedroom. Huh?

"Yang!" A voice coming from a small girl was registered in my ears. She was not scared nor shocked, in fact, she was happy. Who is she? What did Yang do?

She got off from her bed and greeted him with a hug.

"And uh-"

"Catherine, this is my brother Jared. Jared, this is Catherine."

"Nice to meet you," she said with a small smile. I just nodded.

"so, what are you guys doing here?" She asked after releasing her arms around Yang's back. I decided to stay silent and let Yang handle the talking.

"About that- can we take a look at one of those books?" Books.... There were a lot more? She nodded at him without asking the reason why. She began walking to a drawer, opened it, and took a rather familiar book.

I took a glance at Yang's hand, and he was still holding the book from back then. It was a copy or a duplicate. He gently placed the book on the bed, took the book from Catherine's hands, and deliberately tapped my forehead with it.

"Can you see a soul?" I began to focus on the book just like before.... But.... No. I couldn't see a soul, it was just a regular book. I shook my head at his question, maybe the soul disappeared because it saw me focusing on it?

After hearing my answer, he opened the book to a certain page, the same page number he turned in previously. But, it was blank again.

"Hey, what happened to that page?" Catherine pointed out something weird on the page. So back then, there was something on that page?

"Yang, what was on that page?"

"A search bar and like an answer generator, it was almost as if it was alive. Jared, have you noticed me not tripping, not even once?" Yeah, that was odd. Why hasn't he tripped? "We got that fixed thanks to this book. I fed it questions and by trial and error, we succeeded."

"How did you accomplish it?" I was curious, how exactly did he do it? I thought it was impossible to fix without altering his concept, something he wouldn't do.

"Jared, what you are seeing now is a meat armor controlled by magic. All of my bodies are compressed into a tiny point-" he said while almost putting his thumb and pointing finger together to visualize how small it was. "and stored inside my brain" he said while now pointing at his brain.

Logically, that could work. No, it did work. But, technically doesn't that mean he is still tripping?

"Is that small you still tripping?" He nodded.

"Back to the book, let's go to the library. Gather all books that look like this." Yang said in a calm voice. He opened the bedroom door as if he owned the place and began walking. Oh well.

I, or rather we began to follow Yang to a library. When we got there, we did exactly what he said, and that was to gather all the books that were that. One question that stuck with me was: why was Catherine helping us? Of course, I was too shy to ask her that.

"None huh?" Yang muttered to himself after hearing what I said about the book.

There were no souls, and all books currently lost the search bar and answer generator page. They were all blank.

"What's so special about these books? Well apart from having souls that all of us couldn't see" I said "all" because I too was not seeing souls. Who knows, maybe the spell I did caused shockwaves and destroyed the search bar and answer generator function, and the soul I was seeing was just a hallucination.

'Hallucinations, somewhat a traumatizing experience for me.' I thought to myself remembering that time I thought I was hallucinating Jay when I was getting beaten up by that girl.

"I ignored the author's name because I thought it was a coincidence. But that soul you saw just validated my suspicions." I wonder who the author he was referring to? But it would be funny if the author's name was somehow Ashura Everest.

"I do not know how many dimensions you have, but I know it is more than mine. But, maybe the reason why you saw a soul while I didn't was because of that."

"So, who was the author of these books?"

"Ashura Eversor" He said in a serious voice while opening the front cover of the book. Eversor, Everos. The names were almost the same, just that an s was added in between r and o.

"Woah! Does that mean the author is your brother?" Catherine said in an amazed voice, not knowing the implications of him being our brother.

If this was true, we might have a major problem. He might end up releasing a few years earlier than planned because of the souls roaming around.

"Most probably. Cath, do you know where your father gets these books?" Yang asked a very important question. If we managed to get the information on who was the source of this book, we might end up with someone who knows Ashura.

However, Catherine just shrugged her shoulders.

"I don't know, when I asked my father about that, he just told me to not ask."

That was odd, why would he hide the source of these books? Unless he knows what is inside these books.

"We have a suspect" Yang calmly states his opinion. I too believed it, he was just far too suspicious.

I saw Yang's eyes change. He has activated his celestial eyes. While activated, he began moving his body around as if to look for something.

Suddenly, he deactivated them and began walking away. It seemed he found his target, I wonder who it was? Was it her father? Most probably.

We began to follow Yang exiting the library, but just as when we were about to step outside of the library, he stopped us.

"I will handle him" I nodded, and silently retreated to a nearby chair.

I wonder what he was about to do.

"So uuuh, how is Yang at home?" Catherine started a conversation after several minutes of silence. How is Yang at home huh?

"Smart, and lazy..... I guess that's pretty much it" I have a lot more to say about him, but it would probably offend her. So, I guess it is best to keep it to myself.

Silence then ensued for a couple of minutes, all until Yang came back to the library with his usual look. But there was something wrong about him, his hands were shaking. It was as if he was afraid of something, or rather he was afraid of what he learned.

'????' several questions came to my mind. Why was his hair now dirty blonde? Why did he take so long? What was he afraid of?

"What's wrong Yang?" Catherine asked with a worried voice. Aaagh, I am jealous of their friendship!

"This is bad..... This is bad...." He started muttering what he said repeatedly in a monotonous voice. I never saw Yang like this. I wonder what he had learned. Suddenly, he stopped muttering it and looked at me straight in the eye. "Jared, I am skipping classes." This time, his voice changed, it was as if it was urgent.

However, I can't do that. He must go to school, he said to himself, "They told me I must go to school".

"No"

"This is urgent." He said in a serious tone. While I wished I could do it since I figured it was really important, I did not want to disobey my parent's orders. He must go to school.

"I'm sorry, but orders are orders.... Let's discuss this again after I wake up." I was mentally tired.

"Haaaah" he let out a frustrated sigh. Suddenly he disappeared. He teleported without me. He teleported me here and then teleported without me. The audacity!

"Ummm mister Jared, why do you not want to allow Yang to skip classes?" Catherine who was the only one with me in the library asked.

"Our parents said that he must go to school" A bit hypocritical of them since Jay just sorta let me quit college and Fedra didn't care that much. I don't even think Yin attends school at all!

I wonder why they were adamant about sending Yang to school. I guess we should confront them a couple of hours from now..... No, I am going to send Yang to school.

Wait, when do classes start again?

"When do classes start?"

"3 days from now" I nodded at her question. It seems we can confront our parents.

Jay, if you don't want any trouble 9 hours from now, get Yin as far as you can.

Oh well. I hope he was reading my mind currently. I do not wish to learn what Yin can do if Yang is in near proximity.
