Jessica's muscles coiled with tension as she faced Count Dregan atop the castle's highest tower. The wind whipped around them, carrying the scent of decay and ancient evil. Her newly transformed body thrummed with power, white fur gleaming in the moonlight.
For a heartbeat, they stood frozen, sizing each other up. Then Dregan's form shifted, his body contorting in ways that defied natural law. Bones cracked and reshaped, skin stretching and sprouting leathery wings. Where the vampire had stood moments before, a monstrous white bat creature now towered, its red eyes gleaming with unholy hunger.
"Two can play at that game, my dear," Dregan's voice rasped, distorted by his new form.
Jessica's yellow eyes widened, but she steeled herself against the wave of fear threatening to overwhelm her. This was it–no more running, no more clever traps. Just raw, primal combat with the fate of her entire town hanging in the balance.
With a roar that shook the ancient stones beneath their feet, Jessica lunged forward. Her claws raked across Dregan's chest, drawing first blood. The bat-werebat shrieked in pain and fury, retaliating with a vicious swipe of its wing.
The blow caught Jessica in the ribs, sending her skidding across the rooftop. She gasped, tasting copper in her mouth, but forced herself back to her feet. No time for pain–not when every second counted.
Dregan took to the air, his massive wings creating gusts that threatened to sweep Jessica off the tower entirely. She dug her claws into the weathered shingles, anchoring herself as she searched for an opening.
"Is that the best you can do, little wolf?" Dregan taunted, circling overhead. "I expected more from one who's given me such... spirited opposition."
Jessica's eyes narrowed. "Keep talking, Bat Boy," she growled. "I’m ready to shut your mouth!”
She leaped, using her powerful legs to propel herself impossibly high. Her claws found purchase in Dregan's leathery hide, and they tumbled through the air in a frenzied whirl of fur and wings.
They crashed back onto the roof; the impact sending tremors through the entire castle. Jessica rolled, narrowly avoiding Dregan's snapping jaws. She came up in a crouch, snarling as she faced her adversary once more.
The battle raged on, a brutal dance of claw and fang. Jessica's enhanced senses worked overtime, allowing her to expect Dregan's moves split seconds before he made them. But the vampire's centuries of experience were not to be underestimated. For every blow she landed, he returned one in kind.

Blood–both hers and Dregan's–stained the castle stones, turning the weathered gray to a sickening crimson. The sound of their clash echoed across the island, a cacophony of inhuman roars and the rending of flesh.
As they grappled at the edge of the tower, Jessica glimpsed the eastern sky. A faint lightening of the inky blackness sent a surge of hope through her battered body. Dawn was approaching. If she could just hold out a little longer...
Dregan seemed to sense the shift as well. His attacks grew more frenzied, desperation lending him renewed strength. "You cannot win, child," he hissed, pinning Jessica against a crumbling parapet. "I have survived countless sunrises. What makes you think this one will be any different?"
Jessica struggled against his grip, feeling the stone giving way behind her. One wrong move and she'd plummet to the unforgiving ground far below. But as Dregan leaned in, fangs bared for a killing blow, inspiration struck.
Using every ounce of her werewolf strength, Jessica heaved sideways. The sudden movement caught Dregan off guard, and they both tumbled over the edge of the parapet. As they fell, Jessica twisted, using the vampire's own momentum against him.
They crashed through a lower section of roof, ancient timbers splintering beneath their combined weight. Jessica's back slammed against something hard and unyielding–a broken support beam, its jagged end jutting upward like a spear.
Pain lanced through her, but Jessica forced it aside, focusing on her one chance at victory. With a final, desperate surge of strength, she rolled, impaling Dregan on the makeshift spike.
The vampire's shriek of agony pierced the pre-dawn air. He thrashed, trying to free himself, but Jessica held firm. Her muscles screamed with the effort, every fiber of her being focused on keeping Dregan pinned in place.
"No!" Dregan howled, his form flickering between bat and man as his concentration wavered. "Damn you! Damn you little bit-”
His words cut off as the first rays of sunlight crested the horizon. Jessica watched in grim fascination as Dregan's pale skin smoked, then blister. The vampire's screams reached a fever pitch, then abruptly silence as his body crumbled to ash.
For a long moment, Jessica stood motionless, her chest heaving with exertion. The weight of what had just transpired settled over her like a heavy blanket. It was over. Dregan was gone.
As the adrenaline ebbed, Jessica felt her body shifting back to its human form. She winced at the myriad aches and pains making themselves known, but a fierce pride swelled in her chest.
"I won," she murmured, a disbelieving laugh bubbling up from her throat. "Thank god." Her voice grew stronger as the reality sank in. "That's right, Dregan. Looks like this 'little wolf' was more than you could handle. Guess that makes me a super beast after all."
With that declaration echoing off the ancient stones, Jessica allowed herself a moment of pure triumph. The nightmare was over. Her town was safe. And she, Jessica, had proven herself more than equal to the challenge.
As the sun climbed higher in the sky, bathing the battered castle in golden light, Jessica turned her thoughts to her friends waiting below. It was time to go home, to face whatever new challenges awaited. But for now, in this moment, she savored her hard-won victory over the darkness that had threatened everything she held dear.
