He robotically turned his head to look at the grim reaper as if confirming if his thoughts were correct.
The grim reaper too looked pale as looked back at Jake and said helplessly, "The heart is what keeps your body warm. If it is taken away, of course there is no way your body would keep warm. If a body is not warm enough, then…" He paused for a few seconds before throwing the biggest news, "then there is no way to enter a soul into the body."
Jake had already guessed this is what happened but still when he heard his words directly, he couldn't handle the blow.
He immediately started running towards the man who was taking the box which had his heart within. He ran fast and stood in front of and shouted, "Hey, stop there dude. Give my heart back to me now. How dare you steal my heart from me."
But the man couldn't see Jake's soul and he easily passed through him. The man went to the elevator to leave casually.
"Hey! Stop right there. How dare you leave when I am shouting?" Jake started running once again in his direction.
The grim reaper shook his head and followed him as they both entered the elevator along with the man. The grim reaper looked at Jake and spoke, "No one can see, hear or feel you no matter how much you shout. So, Jake Robberfeld, it is better for you to not waste your efforts doing so."
"You shut up. It is all because of you, you bastard. If you did not take my soul out of my body, I would not be in this situation now. What to do? How can I get my body back?" Jake shouted back at him.
"Well, I am wrong there but you can't put all your blame on me either, Jake Robberfeld. Actually your body went cold enough to let me take your soul out of your body. It means you were ready to be dead. If it did not happen, how can I take your soul outside? I can't forcefully change the temperature of your body either." The grim reaper gave his side of justification but Jake felt like he heard something from his words.
Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.
"You are saying that I was about to die before you came to me so you could take my soul out?"
"Yes, Jake Robberfeld."
The cogs in Jake's mind started running suddenly, "How can that be? My hot and sexy nurse had already told me that I am fine and I can even discharge after a couple of days. How can my health be bad in a single night? Something is wrong here."
He then looked at the grim reaper and asked, "Did you see something when you came to get me?"
The grim reaper thought for a few seconds and shook his head while recalling what happened when he arrived, "I came to get you. The doctor from earlier was standing beside you and was looking at your charts. Then he injected some medicine into the bottle that was hanging beside you. After a few minutes, the machines around you started beeping loudly and then the doctor looked at your pulse before taking you to the operation theatre. That is all that happened. Nothing unusual."
Jake's face darkened as he heard all his words, "Nothing unusual? Are you blind or deaf? How can that be nothing unusual? That doctor clearly injected medicine into my IV in order to kill me."
He raised his hand to force it through his hair in frustration. He never thought that the reason he would be dead one day would be a doctor killing him behind his back.
"The doctor? But he looked like a nice person."
"Nice person? If he was a nice person, would he sell my heart in black market? He had clearly planned everything from the start."
"How do you say that he planned everything?"
Jake gave him a blank look before saying, "Don't you see that he knows my identity? He knows everything and that is why he planned everything. But wait. There is still something wrong here."
"Something wrong? What else is wrong here other than you not getting your body back?"
"You shut up. Don't remind me of that shit. I am talking about something else here.
"That doctor clearly knows my identity. But why did he steal my heart instead of handing me to the police and getting a huge sum of bounty?" Jake thought seriously. Something is very suspicious about that damn doctor.
'It is very clear but what exactly was wrong about him?' Jake started rummaging his head to find the answer to his question.
