13.5. Thank You

Soothing my mind in the afternoon sun. The class feels quiet. Well, all that left is me and my first-ever girlfriend's bag, Chika, who are both drowned in the orange light of the sun that is about to set. Well, even though the person herself isn't in the class at the moment, so I'm the only one left.

Chika was assigned to give today's class report to the teacher's room. I'm not waiting for her to walk home together, that's not it. However, I intend to give her a deep thank you for doing such support for me. An opportunity for me to make friends.

As explained by Farya, it turns out that Chika had told them about my situation and that has difficulty making friends at my new school. And because of that, Farya, Rifa, and Saena, all of them planned a surprise for me. A very simple gift but a meaningful one. Friendship bond.

The wind from one of the outside windows near Arkan's table which is still open hits me, it feels cold. I then decided to close the one window that is still open because the window curtain keeps waving by the wind. As I walk, my body is constantly buffeted by the February breeze, which feels slightly cool but harsh. When I almost close the window, a sound by of a door being slides until it hits the corner can be heard from behind me.

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.

I turn around and see the girl I was waiting for standing between the frame of the door she opened. The girl's body looks dark because it is covered by the shadow of my body which is exposed to light from outside the window. “Hana? Why aren't you go home yet?" Chika asked while standing still.

Without answering her question, I signal Chika to come towards me by waving my arms up and down. Not questioning my order, she began to walk closer.

Chika is right in front of me, with a confused face, she keeps looking at my face. Me who already had an initial goal on why I waited until the afternoon and called her, is smiling. When I wanted to convey what is in my heart, like a support by nature itself, I was gently pushed by the evening breeze at that time. Opening my arms wide as if I wanted to grab Chika's whole body, I gently embraced it.

Chika who is shocked says in a high tone, “Han?! Hana?! What's wrong?!".

Not answering her question, I tighten my hug and say, "Thank you".

In an instant, Chika seemed to understand what I was doing. Her heart rate returned to normal. Even though I feel she is still a little surprised, she seems to have understood why I did this. Chika too, just like me, hugged me tightly, slowly.

The wind that has been hitting us gently and making the window curtains keep swaying is finally gone. My ears heard a weak girl's voice softly saying, "You're welcome" while feeling a gentle and soothing pet on my head.
