I drank the rejuvenation portion. Then took the additional merging portion and elemental essence and started the procedure again.

“Do the same way you did before, at the start of the procedure. You don’t have to drink the portion this time just pour it while mixing aatma energy.” Kam said.

I started doing as he said. The portion was finished very fast. I still continued to feed the egg with my aatma. I didn’t stop the feeding of aatma. The cracks would extend every 10 to 15 minutes. I was feeling a bit tired but I hung on. I could feel him in my soul. He was meditating and asking me to meditate.

I did as he told me. I started meditating while sending the aatma onto the egg. I couldn’t understand how but my mind started to split into 4. One part started to collect, purify and spread Ki all over my body and mind sea. One was doing the same with mana and one was doing it on aatma. The last part was feeding the egg with aatma.

Nobody didn’t know how long but the crack finally stopped and a beak split the eggshell and started to get visible. The shell started to fall down as a big bundle of feathers came out. It climbed out of the eggshell and jumped-up Veda’s hand and onto his shoulders near his ear and started pecking his ears making him open his eyes. The eagle jumped down to Veda’s hands after accomplishing what it wanted and looked upto Veda’s face. Veda opened his eyes and saw a fluffy feathery figure in his hands looking up. He brought his hands to his face and touched each other’s forehead.

“Brother” I heard a voice in my mind.

I was stunned for a second and looked at the eagle and then smiled. I called him “brother” in my mind. He hopped onto my head out of my hand and started to look around after spinning on my head finding a comfortable position. He looked around for a bit then climbed down onto my shoulders and settled there.

“Awww, so cute” Jenny and Oli extended their hands together to pick him.

“Don’t” It was Kam who said that “Let the bird rest. Until he climbs down from his body don’t try to pick him. He is now familiarising himself with the world and his surroundings. Manhandling it now will cause a lot of distress in future”

“Can I stand up now? I don’t think I need to sit down until he familiarises with the world, do I?” I asked.

“Oh no, you don’t. Sometimes the beasts take more than a month to get familiarised with their surroundings. And you can take the eggshell to the alchemy association, it contains some alchemical properties and can be made into some medicines. That is unless you have some plant-based beast which will take the shell as their food.” He looked at me for a bit after that and asked, “could you tell me if you don’t mind, what your affinities are?”

“Earth, Water, Dark and Fauna” I replied.

“Earth and Fauna, huh,” he thought for a second and asked, “Do you have any more beasts to link?”

“I don’t. I got him only because of some stroke of great luck” I said pointing to the eagle.

“Your luck seems to be very high buddy” he smiled at me “Because you are just the guy, I was looking for very long”

By this time Archie came back and saw Kam speaking to me “What happened?”

“He has the combination” Kam replied.

“Really, we travel all over the world for years, only to find a kid in this backwater village just under our noses. Looks like his luck is really high” Archie also started chuckling.

I was confused, and so were my friends. Kam saw this and started to explain, “There is a plant-based soul beast with us known as Balanos Oak. They are a type of dryad but they cannot shapeshift like the majority of the dryad. There is a saying about Balanos Oak among the tamer community that it could turn the great desert into a rainforest. Even though it is an exaggeration it is not entirely false. The Balanos Oak could turn the area around it into fertile land. The area depends upon its stage. At the novice stage, it could turn 5 feet around it into fertile land.”

“Balanos oak at the start looks like an ordinary plant out in the wild with 5 - 6 roots and 2 – 3 branches and leaves amounting to two or three dozen. But the biggest problem is that it is very hard to find it is compatible to be soul linked. It has a very strict requirement, only a person who has both earth and fauna could soul link with it. That is not the end that person should not have affinities like fire, metal, magma, lightning, air and poison. We came across some who had earth and fauna they had one of three problems. Either they didn’t want it or we couldn’t give this to them or they had unfavourable affinities with them. There were also some who were not compatible with low capacity. These beasts are very choosy about their tamers. And before you say anything, we don’t want any money for the beast. This was a request of my dying friend. To give the seed a good tamer companion. Also, it’s not like this seed could change our entire wealth, it is worth some gold at the highest which is not worth the trouble for us. So, you up for it again.” He asked me.

“Won’t it be a problem if I soul link with another beast while he is still in his familiarising phase” I pointed to the eagle on my shoulders. He tried to bite my finger which was pointed at him.

“Ask him, if you can soul link another. They don’t usually have any problems like that. Most of them like having more company.” I looked at the eagle and asked “Do you mind me linking with another beast”

The tilts its head at me, opens its beak and lets out a cry. Everyone thought it was just denied. But what he just did was a big fat yes. He was actually very excited for some reason.

“Kam but I don’t have any more portion left,” I said to Kam who looked amazed

“Was that his approval?” Kam asked

“He was thrilled. So, the cry was a little over the top” I said while scratching the neck of the eagle with my finger. He was hesitant at first then was leaning as I was withdrawing my fingers and asking for a full body scratch.

“If he is okay then it is fine. About portion, your friends might have an extra portion with them right” he replied pointing to my friends. As if on cue Oli took out her extra portion and put it in my hands.

“Archie, do you have another rejuvenation portion?” then Kam closed his eyes and opened them along with his hands which contained a seed-like cocoon the size of my fist.

Archie gave another portion to me and Kam pointed me to the platform. I accepted both items. The was looking curiously looking at the egg from my shoulders. I sat down in the same way as earlier. Started the procedure by drinking the portion half and pouring the rest on the egg.

I closed my eyes and started to focus while sending my aatma onto the egg both ways. This time in my mind sea a small plant appeared and it was faster than the eagle. It looked at me with half-closed eyes. This small plant-like being had three or four branches with large leaves compared to its branches. He was looking at me suspiciously.

“Look I…..” Before I could start saying anything to clear his doubts. He ran upto me and hugged my leg. And started to scratch his bark against my leg. I was stunned and looked at the eagle near me. The eagle was even more confused and amazed than me. He looked at me with a questioning look. I shrugged at the eagle and bend down and picked up the plant and brought it near my face. That was all he needed he just hugged my face and touched my forehead with his and started the bonding.

As soon as Veda started the procedure by pouring the portion onto the egg. The light slowly started to shine. Within a minute the light works started to blaze high then slowly calm down. All of them thought the procedure failed

I slowly open my eyes and look at the looks of the people around me with expectant eyes. Before I could say anything the egg cracked and a small plant-like figure came out of it. It tripped on my hands 2 – 3 times before climbing onto my shoulders and hugging my neck making satisfactory smiles and sounds. He then opened his eyes and started to look around. He first saw the eagle and made weird sounds at him. Then he looked around at everyone for a few moments. Then he just jumps down to the ground and runs upto Oli and hugs her.

“I think he is too friendly”

The sapling hugged Oli but ignored Jani. And when Jani tried to pick him up. He Jumped out of Oli’s neck and came running to me. He climbed the other shoulder and sat their looking at others as if asking what’s up.

“Don’t worry, he will be comfortable with all of you in a month or so. Until that time he will probably avoid all the unfavourable affinities I told earlier.” Kam explained to the disappointed Jani. Then he looked at me and asked “Do you know the skills of both the beasts? Which skills are you going to take in?”
