0011. Chapter – 11_The Tale of forgotten Archer

We walked towards the room without any further ado. As we entered the room, we could see 4 people. There was a spectacled man with a lean fit, a lady with a white overcoat, a plumb man with a beard and a young lady with a notepad.

"Please give me the forms," the notepad lady asks us and we give her the form. She then goes to the side of the room and asks us to follow her.

"You come first, come and stand here, others stand aside we will call you next" she points to Oli and then to the rest of us. There was a machine with a peculiar appearance. It was about 7 feet in height, had some kind of pointed extension on one side, and there was a cross shape in the mid-portion of the machine.

"Spread your arms and stand straight." She then started measuring her height and weight of Oli. She then brought the pointed extension to the left-hand side of Oli. It pricked her left hand and a drop of blood came.

"Ouch" Oli gave a low shout.

"Smear the blood on the platform to your left and step down from there" She pointed to a platform below the pointed extension on which the blood had dripped. Oli did as she was instructed and then stepped out of the machine.

"Please come here, confirm the details that you have filled in the forms" the plumb man was the one that asked the question. While this was happening, the lean man replaced the blood-smeared plate from the machine on to another machine. The plumb man then read every detail we wrote and then he told her about details like height, weight elemental affinity and force affinity. He then waved her to come toward an instrument that looked like the machine which tested our capacity during the ceremony.

"You have both mana and ki right. So, first, we will measure ki. Place your hands on the sphere. Just one hand is enough, place it on the sphere and concentrate and do as I say. First, try collecting your ki from your body and bring the focus of the ki to just your hand. Hold it in your hand until we say to release the concentration, ok" Oli nodded as started concentrating the ki on her hand that was placed on the sphere. The machine made a small humming sound and the sphere emitted a small glow like the capacity tester. Then it stopped emitting the light in a couple of seconds.

"That's enough, thank you for that. Now disperse the ki back to your entire body and breathe in and out" He asked Oli and she started to do that. He then continued to say "Now do the same process with mana. Try concentrating as much mana as possible on your hand."

She did as she was told. This time the light started to hover around her hand, it was a mix of brown and blue with brown more than blue. The sphere started to glow just like last time. After a few moments, the glow subsided.

"You can get down from there, go to her" He pointed to the plumb lady. Oli went to the plumb lady. She handed Oli a card

"Smear your blood on this part of the card" She gave Oli a rectangle crystal card with a bronze colour rectangle inside at one end. She then pointed to the small rectangle inside the crystal card to smear the blood. The card glowed for a moment.

"Here is your card, stand by the side while others do their process" She handed Oli the card and asked her to move to the side. All of us had started the process behind her, Jani was the first after Oli, then Muni and lastly me. All of us had the same procedure except for me, I had one additional step. The steps for ki and mana were the same but for aatma it was different.

"Now let's test your aatma. First, collect aatma from all around and concentrate it on your mind. Focus on the quantity also. If you concentrate you could see the energy being collected in your mental see. Do you see it?" He asked me.

"Yes," I answered him.

"Good, now try and guide the aatma to move through your arm and come out of your finger as if a string toward the globe. The method for guiding is the same as blood. Just guide it from your mental see toward your finger and into the sphere." He explained. I started doing as he instructed and collected the aatma on my mental sea. It was like a lake. Then I guided it by channelling a pathway like a canal from my mind sea to my arm. Soon a thread made of 4 colours started entering the sphere. It started to light up soon just like all the previous times.

"Good, now go over to that lady" He pointed me towards the plumb lady. She handed me the card and asked me to smear the blood on the bronze part. After I did it glowed and I could see various information on it. It had my details.

He didn't know what those stats meant. He was confused a bit. But the plumb lady had started to say something so he kept it aside.

"You guys now have the adventurer association card. These can be used for identification purposes as well as documents for joining any association or guilds. It has various data on each of you. I would suggest you guys update the Id every month at the very least during your active period. If you retire or settle down then atleast a yearly update is recommended. You could see on your cards a level stat. This shows your level and progress. After you guys' link with soul beasts, you will enter level one. After that levelling up can be done 2 ways or rather levelling up involves 2 factors. The amount of your purified force and number of missions and kills done. Humans don't provide much experience, so don't go around killing each other unless a bounty is placed. So, update regularly, do missions a lot, fight against monster tides and waves as much as possible, train, learn and improve your skills daily or periodically. Any doubts?" She completed her monologue.

All of us looked at each other. Then I asked her "How do you calculate the stats in the card and how do we improve them?"

"The physical statistics i.e., strength, constitution, vitality, agility and dexterity can be improved by eating good food, exercising and practising with your weapons. Intellect can be increased by increasing your knowledge of things and reading more. Charisma is all about how you behave and present your selves, wearing neat clothes, cleaning yourself daily, and maybe how you behave in front of others all affect charisma. Wisdom and Perception can only be improved by battles and fights. There is no other I know that will increase these stats. You could ask the front office or other members about those if you want. On average every person who is at level 0 and level 1 has the same statistics and those are usually between 15 and 25. 15 is considered better than the average human while 25 is great. Your stats won't increase from 0 to 1 but after you reach 1 each level up will give you 2 stat points increase each. You could also increase stat points by the earlier method. So, now you know 2 methods of stat point increase work and improve it. Also, no one knows what the upper limit of each stat is, so explore it if you want. Also, the highest anyone without any force affinity has reached is 10 on each stat."

"There are people without force affinity?" I asked her surprised.

"Of course, there is. Everyone does not have an affinity with forces. Some even have the mental capacity of 1 and 1. I don't know how you didn't know this till now but there are a lot of people in this world who don't have any force or elemental affinity. Some help in research, teaching, or similar professions, some become farmers, potters, stone smiths or similar professions but some deviate and think that the world has wronged them thus try their whole life on a mission to destroy this world. Some fanatics think that these affinities are powers given by Satan and need to be eradicated from the face of the earth. Luckily this time no duds, that's what we call people without affinities came in your batch. The normal average is 3 out of 100. That's whole another issue. Do you guys have any more doubts?" She looked at us smiling.

"No," all of us said unanimously. She guided us outside and we went to the reception and saw Milly.

"So, you guys got ID right. Are you joining as adventurers?" Milly asked.

"Yes," we said.

"Could you guys give me your id… Oh, before that are there any skills you are going to purchase?" she asked.

"Yes, we want to buy basic status, and I think there are certain skills we like, don't we?" I looked at the others and they nodded.

"Go to my right behind the stairs you could see a counter. Since you are beginners and just registered as adventurers you get 2 skills free. 1 from the empire and one from the adventurer association. Give this at the counter. Sam will give you the skills, if you want additional, he will give you for a price. Learn it from there itself and come back I will complete registration and update your Id at the same time." She said while giving us a paper.

We went to the place she showed us. A young man was sitting there.

"Name the skills you want," he said without any further ceremony as we gave the paper Milly gave us

Jani was first to say "Status and Focus Eye". He stood up went behind and from the shelves took one crystal and came back and picked another crystal from his side.

"Transfer ki or mana or aatma into the crystal and learn those and give back the crystal. Learn one by one, some idiots think it's faster to learn two skills at the same time." He said as he gave crystal balls to Jani. She sends her mana into the balls. It was the size of a quarter of your folded fists. The smoke-filled crystal became transparent after few moments after Jani send her mana. After both the crystals became transparent, she gave them back.

"Just smear your blood a little on your card, every time you learn a skill or link or make a pact with a soul beast. It will make updating a little easier. Next one please" he said as he received the crystals.

"Status and Lightning slash" Muni was the next one.

"I think lightning is a bit on the short side let me look if it is there otherwise you would have to look for something else," Sam said as he went back to the shelves. This time he looked on a different shelf. "Unfortunately, that skill is not there, but do you want Lightning Piercer. It's a similar attacking skill that could be used by both sword and spear users."

"hmmmm" Muni went into thought for a few moments "I will take it"

He received both the skills and started learning. After doing the same as Jani, he returned the transparent skill crystals back. Oli move forward

"I would like status and a water skill for attacking with a spear," she said.

"Attacking skill... hmmm... let me see" he started to look at another shelf mumbling 'attacking skill'. After taking and putting back a few he came back with a skill crystal.

"This one is called Rotating thrust it's a showy skill but still great skill." He said picking one. Then he gave status and rotating thrust to Oli. She learned both and gave back the crystals.

"Status and a utility spell of the water element," I asked him.

He was surprised for a moment. "Utility spell huh. That's a bit unusual. But let me look"

Oli came near me "Why are you looking for a utility spell?"

"We would be travelling a lot. Sometimes we may not get everything we need on the road. So, a utility spell could help on that matter" I replied.

Sam came back with a spell crystal "This one is called H2O. It gathers drinkable water from the atmosphere. Is this enough?"

"Yeah, great. Thanks" I received both the skills and learned the skills. I sent Mana into the crystal and then I could see a cloud forming in my mind see. Soon I could know how to use both the spells. Then I smeared a bit of blood on the card.

We gave the crystals back and came back to reception. Milly saw us and waved to us with a smile. We waited as she was speaking to someone else. After the person moved away, we moved near her.

"So, give me your cards" We gave her the cards. She entered into a machine and gave it back.

"You guys haven't tried status yet, have you? Try it." She said with a smile.

"Status," all of us said simultaneously.

Suddenly all the information that I saw on the ID, I could see it on my mind with some additions.
