Will followed Kapo's instructions to the letter as he continued to think of home. He harvested blood from monsters that he killed to be used in drawing the formation. He fought herds of monsters at a time and slaughtered them all and harvested the blood from the carcasses and stored it in hand made barrels which he stored in a pit he dug behind his cabin along with their cores. He then stopped onto a mountain near his cabin before he continued.
"Kapo, can you tell me what the herbs look like?" Will asked Kapo as he walked slowly away from his cabin.
"Yeah, hold on for a second," Kapo said as he started to hum.
"What are you . . . Woah, how did you do that?" Will said as he saw pictures of weird herbs in his head and their descriptions.
"Well, since you have recently unlocked some of the features of the celestial system, this is one of them," Kapo said with a chuckle.
"What do these descriptions mean by substitutes?" Will asked Kapo as he thought of the herb that would be the easiest to find.
"Well, different dimensions, different resources, material, etc. You are lucky to be able to even find a replacement for the herbs from Avinania. There is next to no celestial energy in this garbage place." Kapo said as he tried to not cough up blood in the area of Wills soul that he resided in.
"I have a few questions before we go looking for the herbs," Will said while he was frowning.
"Oh, what would that be?" Kapo said as he was wondering why Will was still standing.
"um, why do we need the herbs for and what is Avinania?" Will said as he finally stopped standing and sat down.
". . . . You need to mix the herbs with the blood of the beasts and something else before you can use it to draw the formation and Avinania is the name of the dimension you came from." Kapo said as he realized there was no way for him to smack Will.
"Oh, what else do I need besides the blood and herbs?" Will asked as he stood up.
"You will find out when the time is right. Now get going!" Kapo screamed as he kept trying not to faint from rage.
"Okay," Will said as he walked towards an area where he thought that he would be able to find one of the herbs that he needed.
Will walked for about half a mile towards a nearby mountain that he traveled to earlier this month while looking for clay deposits to finish the roof for his cabin. He found a few deposits around the base of the mountain. He collected the clay and walked towards the top of the "mountain" to look at the area around his base. It took him around twenty minutes to reach the top of the mountain, it was around seventy meters tall. He reached the top and found a crater-like area that took up the majority of the top of the "Mountain". He was about to step down into it when he was warned repeatedly by Kapo that he wasn't ready yet and to turn back around and return to his cabin.
"Where is the Bloodfire root?" Will asked Kapo.
"Do you remember when I uploaded the data on the needed herbs and gave this place as a location to where Bloodfire root?" Kapo asked as he thought of how to best explain things to Will.
"Yeah?" Will said as he tried to understand what point Kapo was trying to make.
"Well, the reason I said that you weren't ready to enter that crater was that your body couldn't handle it. Now, you have awakened some of the Celestial System you have also unlocked your race's innate abilities." Kapo said as he continued trying to explain to Will.
"So, it's safe?" Will asked as he looked at the black, glossy rocks that littered the crater's surface.
"Well, yeah, I mean it is an inactive volcano," Kapo said as he awaited Will's reaction.
"A Volcano!!! Are you serious!? You want me to walk into one?! Are you trying to get me Killed? If you wanted me to die you could have just said so and saved us a walk." Will said as he continued his rant while Kapo waited for him to shut up.
"It has been dormant for less than a year and most likely will not become active for more than a year from now, so it is safe to enter. The Bloodfire root will be buried underneath of the obsidian so you will have to dig for it. Don't forget to store some of the obsidian for later. " Kapo said as his voice faded away.
Will then proceeded to carve the obsidian into slabs as lightly as he could and stored them into one of the handmade packs that he made from the skins of Vermillion deer that he killed and dried the hides into leather. He lined the inside of them with Mercurian Rabbit fur that he got from some of his hunts. It took Will several hours of harvesting the obsidian before he found a piece of Bloodfire root. It was only about an inch in area, but it was a start. He stored the herb in a separate bag similar to the other. continued to search for a few more hours until the sun started to set before he turned around to return to his cabin. He had to leave a lot of the obsidian behind. He stacked the slabs into piles outside of the crater and covered it with large sticks and leaves.
Will returned to the cabin and stored the obsidian underneath the makeshift bed that he had constructed. He then stored the Bloodfire root inside of the barrels of Blood so that they wouldn't die as he searched for the other herbs that he needed. He left his cabin and walked to the grassy plains that he found when he explored around the cabin on a day he took a break from training on. He saw some sort of monster that had the head of a buffalo and the body of an iguana, it was the same size as a normal buffalo and covered with fur that was nearly touching the ground. Will avoided them and proceeded to search for the next herb that he needed, Shadowrod. it grows slightly lower than the tall grass around it and looked similar to a Goldenrod but was entirely gray. Will spent an hour before he found some a cluster of Shadowrod that was growing in the shadow of the grass around them. He used his swords to harvest the Shadowrod and returned to his cabin.
Will then stored the Shadowrod inside of the hide bag, that he then put into the cellar that he dug into the mountain that was nearby. There was one more herb on that Will needed and then the ceremony could be performed. Will walked outside of the cellar and climbed the mountain that it was dug into. He sat down and thought of what he needed to get the final herb.
"Kapo, are you serious?" Will asked as he thought of the final herb that he needed.
"I'm as serious as a mana overdose," Kapo said with a hint of sarcasm.
"Where am I going to find this?" Will asked as he realized how annoying Kapo could be when he wanted to.
"Go to the battlefield where you witnessed your first awakening and search those bloodied grounds," Kapo said as his voice became silent.
"Ugh, why do I even try anymore," Will said as he started the long trip to the bloody grounds.
Will walked for an entire day and only made it about halfway before night fell. He climbed the nearest tree and spent his night asleep on the top of a tree. He woke up about an hour before dawn and resumed his trip. He made it to the bloody grounds with only a minor incident. A weird plant that had fan-like leaves with blades on the edges of them; Will touched its blades and nearly lost a finger when they snapped shut. Will arrived at the bloody grounds to find a field of scarlet grass and half-decayed corpses of the Vermillion deer. He walked through the grounds until he came across a corpse that had what appeared to be blood-red poppies growing out of it, they were known as SoulBlossoms since they thrive in the place of death.
Will harvested the SoulBlossoms and stored them in the hide bag that he had used to contain the Shadowrod and then began his long hike back to his cabin. He arrived the next day and his journey was without an incident. He stored the SoulBlossom with the Shadowrod and slept the rest of the day away. He awoke at dawn and gathered the herbs he collected along with the obsidian and cores. He then proceeded to crush the cores in a simple mortar by using the obsidian as a pestle, he then ground the herbs together and then mixed them with the blood and core powder which dissolved and boiled the rest of the ingredients in the mortar, leading to a mixture that appeared to be molten lead. He then proceeded to draw a large hexagon next to his cabin that was filled with runes that formed an array, he then proceeded to lay flat on his back in the middle of the array.
"What is going to happen?" Will asked as his eyelids became heavy.
"Now, why would I want to spoil the fun?" Kapo said as Will fell asleep.
