Shawn arrived at the academy to find countless people leaving. They kept looking towards the main academy building. Shawn's first thoughts turned to Will. What did my crazy son get into this time? Shawn was extremely worried because Kyle wouldn't say anything over the phone. Shawn rushed to Kyle's office.
"What happened?" Shawn asked as soon as he entered.
"We had a gauntlet and Will defeated everyone," Kyle said as he looked up from where he was resting his head on his hands.
"Did something happen to Will?" Shawn said with a hint of anxiety in his voice.
"I don't know what happened. One moment, he appeared to be on his last legs, and the next he appeared able to take on the entire nation single-handed." Kyle said as he recalled how Will's attitude and very being changed.
"Did you record any of it?" Shawn said. He wanted to know if there was any permanent harm to Will.
"Yes, every minute of it. The strange thing was that he was controlling lightning while surrounded by a weird golden hue." Kyle said as he was still baffled by it.
"Lightning Magic?" Shawn said completely shocked.
"Yes, and the most impressive part was that he did it while asleep!" Kyle said as he was still disappointed to have lost to Will.
"He beat you while asleep? Is he still asleep?" Shawn said completely in shock.
"Yes, and he is in his office sleeping. We currently don't know when he will wake up." Kyle said with a deep sigh as he led Shawn to where Will was sleeping.
"How long has he been asleep?" Shawn asked as he saw Will asleep on a makeshift bed in his office.
"Since I called you," Kyle said as he looked at Will with a hint of worry on his face.
All Will remembers was his stamina hitting zero and then everything went black. At first, he was unable to move or even move his fingertips. He strained his muscles to their absolute limits and yet he was unable to move. He struggled for what seemed to be an eternity. He was on the verge of giving into despair when he attempted to clad his entire right index finger in mana to see if it would make a difference. His finger started to glow every color that Will could name and more. Yet, the biggest surprise was that his finger was able to move freely. Will was holding onto his last shred of hope as he clad the rest of his body in mana.
Stars started to appear around Will as little pin-points of multicolored light. They began to grow and slowly surround Will with lights that changed color like his mana. Before long Will was completely surrounded with light except for a twenty-six-foot sphere of complete darkness that wanted to devour everything. He felt a force that wanted to devour his very being pull him into that eternal darkness. All Will could see was darkness. And then the noises began.
They started out as Whispers that promised power, unlimited power in return for Will's freedom. They were as relentless as they were endless. They began to grow louder with each passing second until Will couldn't even hear his own thoughts. Orbs that appeared to consume the very darkness began to appear and circle around Will and the promises only became louder.
"ENOUGH" Will roared as he clad his entire body in mana.
The mana that covered Will disappeared faster than he could send it out.
"That won't be enough little one. Someday you will regret not accepting their promises." A deep masculine voice said as the darkness was replaced with a silver light.
Will saw something that he would never forget. It was a giant being that appeared to be a divine fox. It had more tails than Will was able to see for them blocking each other. It eyes contained every color and yet they never mixed. It also had a set of giant ivory horns that appeared to be that of a bull. Its fur was a silver that shined with a brighter light than any color that Will has ever seen.
"Who are you?" Will said as he began to regain his wits.
"You will find out in due time, little one." The fox said with a sad smile.
Will awoke to endless pain. His body felt as if he was continuously hit with an electrified truck. He couldn't help but scream in agony.
"What is happening to him, Kyle?" Shawn asked as he ran to Will's side.
"I don't know, there were no wounds from the gauntlet unless it is the post-battle stress on his body," Kyle said as he called the nurse.
The nurse arrived shortly after Kyle hung up.
"What happened?" She asked as she checked to see if there was any sign of a fever.
"He just woke up and started screaming," Shawn replied.
"He needs to be taken to a hospital. We don't have the equipment to diagnose what is wrong with him." The nurse replied as she called an ambulance.
Will was rushed straight to the hospital were they conducted many tests before they found what was wrong with Will. What they found completely shocked them.
" Doctor, what is wrong with him?" Shawn asked as he was in the waiting room, waiting for the test results.
"His entire nervous system was destroyed." The doctor said flatly as his clipboard shook slightly.
"Will he live? Is he going to be crippled from this?" Shawn asked with his voice full of anxiety.
"Normally a person in Will's state would be long dead, although that would be a miracle on its own, his nervous system is repairing itself by using his mana." The doctor said with awe.
"How is that possible?" Kyle asked. He and Melany also went to the hospital.
"How long will it take to heal?" Melany asked.
"We have no data on anything like this ever happening so we have no idea how long it will happen. We will continue monitoring him and will inform you all when he recovers." The doctor said as he looked at everyone who was waiting on Will.
Will recovered from his pain and awoke to find a trio of doctors standing around him in an unfamiliar room on an unfamiliar bed.
"He's awake already!" The Doctor that Will first has seen when he woke up said.
"Amazing, but did he suffer any memory loss?" The second doctor said.
Will seeing the ultimate time for a prank, didn't let the opportunity go by.
"Momma" Will asked the doctor to his left.
No, my name is Dr. Loraine Collins." Loraine said as she looked to the other two doctors in shock.
"Momma" Will said to the doctor to his right while trying not to laugh.
"No, I am a man and my name is Dr. Gregory Hughes," Gregory said as he turned to the last doctor that has yet to be named.
"James, go get his parents and tell them about his condition," Gregory said as he turned back to Will.
Will shifted himself to the fetal position and began to bury his head into the bed to hide his face or he would burst into laughter if he didn't. Shawn, Melany, and Kyle came into the room Will was in and all he could hear was Melany crying. Will slightly shifted his head to where he could see them. As he did, Shawn and Melany jumped onto his bed and wrapped him into a hug as they both cried. Will lost it and broke into tears because he was laughing to were he couldn't breathe.
Everyone in the room became confused as they stared at Will.
"I got you all." Will was barely able to say as he was laughing.
Then everything turned black as Shawn and Melany Wrapped Will into a bear hug.
"I can't breath." Will struggled to say.
"You jerk, what did your mom do to deserve this?" Melany asked as she cut off his air supply.
"You reap what you sow," Shawn said with a laugh as he saw the shade of red that Will's face was turning.
Out of an act of desperation, Will turned to face Kyle. When he did he was met with a smack to the face by Kyle.
"Remind me to get you back for somehow adding even more grey to my hair," Kyle said as he sat down.
