“Ar….Aren’t they both 1st shard-level monsters?” said a man with a shaky voice, when the shadowy figure slowly came out of the darkness they could finally see what they were.
“Ye….Yeah, they are Blood Jackals, they aren’t that strong, but they have high agility and their claws can rip us up in just one strike. We just need to work together; we are 20 and there are only 2 of these jackals if we work together, we might just be able to kill them. We just have to make sure that we don’t get hit by their claw and we should all just stick together. Just do as I say, I have heard about these monsters before.” Said the man whose decision it was to stay here, it seemed like he had forced himself to calm down a little after what happened earlier.
Most of the people gathered there started to pick up whatever they could get from the ground, to use as a weapon. Everyone came close to each other as the man had suggested, there wasn’t any other than follow the man’s direction as it seemed like he was the most knowledgeable of them all.
“I DON’T WANT TO DIE…….” Yelled a man as he ran straight into the forest, he didn’t believe that they could defeat the monsters just by themselves. He wasn’t the only one who felt that way, as soon as the man ran others with the same mindset also came up with the same idea. In just a few seconds 5 men started to run everyone towards the different direction.
They believed that the monsters would be occupied fighting these people, so they wouldn’t have time to chase after them. All of them wanted to take advantage of the time the group would provide to run away from the monster. The idea sounded good on their head until both the jackals ran towards the people who tried to escape.
“AHHHHHHHHHH…” heart-wrenching screams could be heard one after the other soon after, one by one in just a matter of few seconds all of the people who tried to escape were dead. Everyone including Renji heard that, they were all shaking with fear.
“Sh….Should we just run away while they are gone?” asked a man with a shaky voice, he also wanted to run away with the group before but his legs didn’t move at that time. So, now after hearing the screams of others, he didn’t have any confidence to fight against the monsters.
“No, didn’t you just hear what happened to those who decided to run? These blood Jackals love hunting prey that is alone, if we split up now they would have a field day with us. Aside from that do you think you can outrun a 1st shard-level monster just like that? Even hunters don’t dare to venture alone in front of these creatures.” Said the man confidently, although he was scared shitless, he still tried to portray confidence as he knew that if he loses confidence, everyone would lose hope.
“Gurrrrrr” Suddenly everyone could hear sounds of growling near them, it seemed the hunt was already over. It only took the monsters about one minute to kill and they were here already.

“He…Hey why are there three pairs of eyes now?” asked one of the men suddenly as it seemed the group was not surrounded by 3 blood jackals. Two was already hard enough and now one more appeared. The three of them slowly started to move forward and once all of them were under the moonlight, everyone could see their fur covered in blood. The scene was just too scary, one man among the remaining bunch just fell to the ground. He had suddenly fainted, it was just too much for him it seemed.
“Don’t panic, just stay together and don’t go near them. Let them come to us, just be prepared with your weapon to attack at any time.” As soon as he gave the orders to the men, the Jackals leaped towards the men.
Even though the men had a numbers advantage, saying that it was a fair fight would be stupid. For the men fighting the jackals, it was just a one-sided massacre. Even though they tried to defend themselves, the jackal’s speed was just too much for them. They tried to stab the jackals but they would maneuver so quickly that their attacks would just land on the empty ground.
In just 20 seconds 4 people from the group were already killed, one jackal even killed 2 people with a single attack. Everyone was covered in blood splattered, people kept dying left and right. It seemed like the jackals were just playing around with their prey.
“Why yo…you…..?” murmured a man with the last breath he had left, he was pushed forward by the man who was instructing the fight. The man who led the fight, pushed the closest person near him in front of the jackal when the jackal came to attack him. The jackal had taken the opportunity and bit the ma on his neck.
“KRAAA…KRAAA” screeched the jackal as it was stabbed by two wooden spears, by the leader of the group. One of the spheres had managed to pierce the jackal’s heart and it soon ended up falling to the ground and dying.
“Thank you for your sacrifice.” Said the leader, seeing such barbaric acts some of the people were terrified. But some people started to get ideas on how to survive. The battlefield where they had thought of protecting each other soon turned into, a dog-eats-dog situation.
Though this was very savage, the tactic did work. They had managed to kill one more jackal using the same tactic. Although there was just one more jackal left, it seemed like it was just too little too late as only two living people were remaining.
The three of them were staring at each other at some point, everyone was wary of each other. The leader nodded towards the other man as if signaling they should work together, but as soon as the jackal leaped towards them the leader tried to push the other guy forward. The other guy was prepared for this so the leader’s plan failed.
“AHHHHH…..” screamed both the man in pain as their legs were badly hurt by the jackal’s attack. Unlike earlier jackal didn’t go for the kill directly, it seemed like it wanted to play. The jackal started to torment both of them and at the end of the game, neither of them didn’t have anything under their knees.
“die you fucker….” Said the man with all the power had in his body when he stabbed the jackal with his spear. The jackal was enjoying the leader’s body when it was stabbed.
“WHUUUUU…” screeched the wolf as one of its legs was stabbed by the wooden sphere. The enraged wolf leaped towards the man and cut his head off cleanly with just one strike.
‘Are they all dead.’ Asked Renji himself, as now he could only hear the sound of the jackal chomping down on the bodies.
‘All alright I can do this, I will just have to wait here until the jackal is done, once it leaves the area it won't try to find me as I have the stinky moss on my body.” Renji thought as he was thinking of a way to get out of the situation safely.
