"So this is how it ends for me huh" Lucas thought while looking down at his gaping chest wound spouting blood profusely. Lucas looked around at the scene of carnage surrounding him while trying to remain standing. Scores of his countrymen laid either dead or dying as far as the eye could see the sky itself colored red reflecting the ground at his feet.
"How did it come to this?" Lucas wondered removing his sword from the ground and staggering forward while holding his hand against the wound futilely trying to slow the bleeding. "Is this really what you wanted William?" He asked looking down at the body of his slain enemy. Breathing heavily Lucas tried to keep walking forward until he fell to his knees from exhaustion and blood loss picking himself up from the dirt he drag his body weigh down by his heavy armor and laid against a small hill. Looking at the massacre around him he couldn't help but shed tears mixed with various emotions of regret, anger, grief, and powerlessness while he gazed at the bodies of his brethren.
"Some ruler I turned out to be. He sighed looking up at the red sky with a sullen gaze. Is this this really all my rule could amount to. What was the point of it all?" He wondered aloud. Slowly he began to feel his consciousness fading and body becoming cold and numb. Knowing soon the hands of death would come to claim their prize Lucas could only reflect on his life's choices wondering if he had made the right decision.
"Well I fought, I lost, and now I rest. I just wish I had another chance then maybe things could've turned out a little less shity." He thought as he slowly closed his eyes the light slowly retracted from his view. His body soon became lighter the pain from his wounds disappearing as he was washed over with what seemed like a cool river of darkness.
"This is different." He thought as he floated down a dark soothing river. Well its not like I ever believed those stories of spirits coming down and taking you to paradise that people who had near death experiences claimed to have seen. As Lucas pondered on the folly of his peoples religious scruples he suddenly felt a presence approaching his body from the shadows. He couldn't turn to face whatever it was but he could sense it standing behind him looking down at him. "I wondered if perhaps this is the fabled reaper come to claim my soul" he pondered to himself but then the being simply walked around toward his legs allowing him to gaze up at it.
The being seemed to be human in shape wearing a ceremonial white robe. Lucas couldn't see its face as it was covered by a large overarching hood. It continued to just stare down at him not saying or doing anything it seemed to be intrigued by the dead king. Annoyed Lucas finally asked "Well what are you waiting for lets get this show on the road." But the being didn't react it just kept looking at him not saying a word as he was getting ready to make another remark it finally addressed him.

"You poor child it must have been hard." It said with a bell like feminine voice. Lucas looked at the being surprised by its remark then even more so as it knelt down to his side coming closer for him to see it. "You dont know anything about it." He rebuked fed up with it's presumptuous attitude. "Are we gonna do this thing or not? I dont have all day." He asked angrily but again the being didn't react or respond it just kept kneeling over Lucas body looking down at his face. "I dont mind go ahead and do your worse take me to heaven or hell which ever damn well pleases you." He dared it but then the being slowly reached out placing its hand on his forehead.
"Shush child and speak no more." It spoke again with its gentle bell like voice. "You've suffered worse than anyone and carried a burden that no one man should have to." As it said this it peeled its hood back allowing Lucas to see its face to his shock it wasn't a skeleton or monster come to seize his soul but the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. Her complexion was fair, her hair laid down to her shoulders with different shades of colors, and her eyes shone like a kaleidoscope. She continued to look at him with a sad expression like a bedside mother comforting her sick child. "But your time with the living is not over just yet you are still needed." She said caressing his cheek affectionately then she leaned down and kissed his forehead. "Now go" she whispered and suddenly a light enveloped Lucas and he could feel his body being refilled with life.
As his consciousness gravitated toward the star lights overhead for what he felt like an eternity suddenly his vision of everything around him became a blur of colors he couldn't distinguish. His ears were then assaulted by foreign sounds he had never heard before. When he listened closely Lucas realized that these sounds were voices speaking some kind of strange language and while looking down he saw that he was being held upside down by a pair of giant hands. And from the cold breeze on his ass he guessed that he was probably naked.
"I dont know what that woman did" he thought "but im guessing that im screwed."
When Lucas vision cleared he saw that the hands weren't giant but that he was actually tiny a baby in fact. It would seem that he had been reincarnated as a newborn baby.
*" I did it! I saved him! The healing worked my lady. Your son is breathing on his own again."*
After turning his little head as best he could he saw that the foreign ramblings belong to some middle aged woman dressed in medieval or renaissance robes. Upon further inspection he realized that everyone in the room was wearing the same style of garb. Lucas was currently in a well decorated stone room lite by candle lights surrounded by strange people in unusual ancient attire. From the looks of it he felt like he popped back into a history book by probably 2000 years.
But only one thought came to Lucas's mind and that was "I am so screwed."
