*"A healthy baby boy my lady."* the midwife said with pride.
After making the announcement the room explode into cheers and congratulations. The servants were hugging both a man and the mother in turns.
In the meantime Lucas never stopped analyzing his situation, lying still looking left and right trying to ascertain just how screwed he truly was.
"So what do we have here? This beautiful lady must be this body's mother. Lucas thought while observing the bedridden woman. she had blonde hair with beautiful blue eyes that reminded Lucas of sapphires. Well she definitely needs a good bath after all that." After all the woman and bed were covered in blood and shit.
He then turned to the right observing the people in the room who were still cheering. The man getting handshakes and pats on his back must have been the father. He was a tall muscular man with ear length dark brown hair and aside from his small mustache and goatee he was clean shaven. The man was wiping tears from his face and had a relieved expression Lucas didn't know if he was relieved for his sake or his wife's but truthfully he didn't really care.
Suddenly the door opened and another young girl lead by the servants walked into the room. She appeared to be 8 yrs old and had a striking resemblance to the bedridden woman but had the mans dark brown hair grown out past her shoulders. She hugged the man first then raced to the bedridden woman's side and embraced her as well.
"Ah she must be this couples first born huh. Which I guess that makes her my older sister in a way." Well its not so bad Lucas thought. "They aren't poor it would seem, so resource's and hunger shouldn't be an issue. It would appear I have two paths to pick from here. One, I could play along to get along and if this world is anything like my previous one I just have to wait until I become independent. Two, I wait till im old enough and have an "accident" and hopefully this time the beautiful bitch leaves me alone. I wonder which I should choose."
But while Lucas was silently contemplating his future life choices the room had grown quiet and the cheering had ceased. The midwife had finished cleaning the blood and shit off of Lucas naked body and then wrapped him in a sky blue cloth. But since the birth Lucas hadn't made a sound.
*"Mary what is wrong with my child? He hasn't cried once is something wrong with him?!"* The mother asked clearly concerned for the baby's health and ignoring her own injuries.
*"Dont worry my lady, and dont move around your injuries have yet to be healed."* The midwife said sternly clearly concerned for the bedridden woman health. *" This isnt my first time delivering a child, quiet ones are rare but nothing to be concerned about. Would you like to see? Here you go."*
At that remark the woman peeled of the cloth covering Lucas bottom and gave it a light spank trying to force him to cry. Instead Lucas just grunted a little while giving her an annoyed look or at least how much a baby can look annoyed.
*"Oh, we got a tough one here I see."* The woman said in surprise.
But before she had the chance to give it another shot Lucas decided rough was a game two could play. While facing away from her and her hand raised in the air to give him another spank he released all his little stomach could offer all on the front of the woman's white robe.
Lucas started to giggling proudly at striking a blow at his first perceived enemy in this new world.
*"Well thats not what I had in mind, but as you can hear your little one is doing just fine."* She said slightly annoyed while she handed Lucas to another servant to be cleaned.

While Lucas continued to giggle aloud the woman proceeded to wipe her face with a hot wet cloth cleaning the bile from her cheek. Then the woman started to do something strange, she did some weird hand seals with her fingers while mumbling something to herself. Then said aloud only one word.
*"Incindero!"*
Then an orange white light enveloped the woman who focused it on her stained wet robe and shoes. Suddenly the stench of child bile disappeared and the source along with it.
Lucas sat shocked, watching as the bile he proud landed on the woman was enveloped by this strange orange white light. Then watched the feces slowly crumble and blow away like dust carried by the wind. The woman robe was then left as if freshly washed, pressed, and out of the laundry.
"By the gods! She's not just some annoying midwife! She's some kind of conduit! There is aura in this world too!" Lucas thought ecstatic by the revelation.
He was excited, not only because he thought he could regain his old powers in this new world, But based on the woman's movements and effects he could learn new ones as well.
Since he heard the word Incindero, and saw the strange light something within him began to call out in response like his aura center calling out for sustenance.
He tried mesmerizing every weird hand seal the woman used before the spell took effect. He wanted to engrave the memory of it into his very soul.
*"Now, lets get you fixed up my lady."* the midwife said as she approached the bedridden mother placing her left hand on her chest.
"Yes! Lucas thought excitedly. Show me more im begging you!"
Mary again began to recite some strange chant to herself while performing a few hand seals with her fingers. After finishing with her rambling she spread her arm's wide for dramatic effect, and placed her palms on the woman's head and the other at the center of her chest.
*"Nero Calbrim!"*
Lucas watched every move step by step not letting a single detail escape his sight no matter how insignificant or small.
Then another light emerged from the midwife again this time sky blue and white in color and enveloped the bedridden woman's whole body. Then at a rate the naked eye could see Lucas mother regained a healthy color in her face, while all the traces of strain or exhaustion vanished without a trace.
Once more, something connected inside Lucas once again. After hearing and seeing the process in which the power was applied he was sure that he would be able to learn it as well. He couldn't stop giggling to himself. If he could learn the ways of how this new aura worked and was applied he could become even stronger then he was before.
This left him with an entirely new path he could use his knowledge from his previous life which was extensive, to learn all the secrets of this new one. Then together he could strike out on his own and follow no one's will but his own.
However all his planning was interrupted, when the servant holding him took him and handed him off to his now healed mother.
*"Mary are you sure he's fine? I dont doubt your skills but he hasn't cried or wined once. With everything that just happened im worried he isnt well."* The woman said clearly concerned.
At those words the room fell silent again. Mary felt her pride a little hurt by the question not only because she'd had been the Klaus family's personal healer for many years now, but also because she was one of the top healers in the whole kingdom.
But Mary couldn't blame Rhea for her concerns after all she had known Rhea for many years and had helped her with her previous pregnancies the last two ending with stillbirths. And this labor had been particular hard on her it had lasted hours longer than expected. Then when she finally saw the baby's body she knew something wasn't right.
She realized that the baby was limp and hadn't been getting any air. So, when she rushed and pulled the baby out as fast as he could she used all the best healing spells she knew but nothing seemed to work. When two horrible minutes passed she was ready to tell her patrons that their fourth child had been lost the same as their last two. But then suddenly the child vomited and began to breath on his own. Only after she checked him with her personal discover spell was she sure her lady's child was safe and let herself exhale.
Magic was no miracle maker like commoners liked to believe all it could do was speed up the human body's natural healing process and return them from disease and injuries. But not even the greatest healing spells could create life.
Mary was empathetic and understood Rheas circumstances better than anyone so she didn't let her question damage her pride. She walked over to the bedridden woman and slowly caressed her cheek.
*"Worry not my lady, I swear on my name, and upon the name of the All Father your little boy is perfectly fine."* She said looking down with Rhea at the little bundle of joy in her arms with both pride and affection.
