The Runaway Prince
An old memory

An old memory

'…….I am not so sure about this

'Neither am I, but I think the reward will be worth it if it works'

'I know that you said this will open a way to another dimension full of strange materials that could be useful, but I am not so sure about this experiment after what happened last time

'Don't be like that, although we found out some unusual things, it was mostly harmless'

'For you, it was harmless, for me, I experienced the worst kind of pain possible, that includes being body-snatched and being shoved into a corner of your soul without consent'

The idiot does have a point.

It took me three months until I finally figured out how to make proper obsidian cubes for a Nether portal to work. Most of the issues came with the surprising fact that Obsidian, when made naturally and not using Game physics, came out with random patterns and abilities.

The most surprising fact that both of us found out is that Obsidian in this world is extremely sensitive to Qi and seems to have some kind of supernatural power to banish ghosts and other evil entities that have Yin Qi in them. We found out about this property when the Idiot in my head was nearly removed permanently for existence after accidentally scanning it with his Qi, which had changed from Lightning Qi as he had previously to Yin Qi due to his current status as a Ghost. Another thing was that somehow, Obsidian made naturally was immune to my Minecraft powers, meaning that I cannot automatically turn it into cubes like everything else in this world. I need to do it manually.

It took a lot of tinkering and creating manual cutting tools and polishing tools followed by using my senses to perfect every step until I was able to consistently pump out Cubes bf Obsidian with a fairly large wastage rate of 100 Kg of wastage to get a 10 Kg worth of Obsidian Cube.

I had wasted almost 90% of my Lava supply in this process and barely managed to produce enough Obsidian Cubes to create a Nether portal.

And now that the Portal is ready and only waiting for me to use flint and steel to activate it, the Idiot in my head is second-guessing everything because of his trauma from his near second death.

'Really, I think we should step back and rethink this-'

I used the flint and steel to activate the portal, and to my relief and the Idiots horror, it immediately activated and opened a portal, which freaked out the Idiot even more than before.

'SPACE QI!! I AM SENSING SPACE QI!! TURN IT OFF BEFORE ANYONE SEES IT AND MARKS US AS A TRAITOR-Wait, we are already considered traitors of the Empire, does this mean we will be marked as Demonic Beast Accomplices this time?? But that does not make any sense, Demonic Beasts that use Space Element are protected by the Dragon Clan in the Demonic Beast capital so we can't be called-'

I left the Idiot to ramble on and walked slowly towards the eerie glowing purple mass at the center of the structure that was shifting continuously between Solid, Liquid, and Gas states. What the hell did this moron think I was going to use when I said I was opening a portal to another dimension. I am seriously having doubts about his protagonist status with how dumb he can be sometimes.

I really hope that this opens into the Nether from the Game and not some unknown location. I am in desperate need to find out if I can connect this world to Minecraft, and in turn make a portal to the Overworld in Minecraft.

I am in serious need of a safe haven from the horrors of this Xianxia world.

"Okay, here goes nothing"

I closed my eyes and jumped into the portal as the Idiot screamed in horror while also hurling profanities at me.

The next thing I know, I am feeling warm air without any air currents as my eyes see an orange glow even with my eyelids closed. I opened my eyes and I was lost for words.

'…….What the hell is this place??'

'Welcome to the Nether'

Seeing it in real life was a completely different experience from watching it on a screen, even if I used texture packs to enhance them.

The massive sea of Lava directly below me, radiating heat that would no doubt cause a normal human, even a Cultivator, to sweat like a pig.

The distant growls and groans of Zombie Piglin and the Clanking of bones, the tell tale signs of the Wither Skeletons. The strange noises of the Ghasts, the grunts from Hoglins, and the tribes of Piglins hunting that I could see in the distance in the Crimson Forest. The occasional Strider and the weird noises of the Endermen from the warped forest. But the most important thing that brought back nostalgia was what everything, including the Lava, was made of.

A World made of Cubes.

"It worked! I did it!"

'Okay, I get it, can we get to why we are here? I don't want to stay in this place anymore than I need to, it gives me very bad feelings'

His words brought me out of my celebration and I immediately got to work.

Since I don't have enough Obsidian left to create another portal to the Overworld, I will need to find a safe way to get down from here and near the Lava so that I can use the water I took from the sea near the Edge of the Yin Forest and make Obsidian Cubes.

Slowly, I made my way down the cliffs while the Idiot continued to ramble on about the Impossibility of a Fictional world being turned real, even though he is currently in the Soul of another being who is now in the Body of a Fictional being. Finally, I reached the bottom and grinned as I took out multiple buckets of water and poured them onto the Lava.

That is when reality kicked in and put me down from my dreams of happiness.

I felt a hollow feeling as I watched the water uselessly evaporate once it fell on the water, not even forming a little bit of Obsidian.

"I don't understand, this is exactly how Obsidian was made in the game and the same method worked in our world as well although it took a few trials and errors and a lot of effort, why is it not working now?"

'Try pouring all of the water you brought with you, maybe the temperature is too high for that little amount of water to solidify the lava'

I followed his advice and immediately took out the hundreds of buckets that I filled with water, nearly half of the entire lake I had found in the forest while running away from the area of the Flood Dragons. But when I poured all of the water onto the lava, all I got was a cartoonish-looking cloud of steam cubes that floated up and disappeared.

'Hey, get me close to the Lava, there is something strange about it'

'What could be strange about a sea of lava that is now utterly useless to me?'

'Just do It'

I allowed the Idiot his wish since my hopes were already crushed. The only thing I can do now is going back to our world and try to find another source of Lava and create Obsidian blocks like before and bring them in here to try making a portal to the Overworld.

I walked near the lava, the temperature not affecting me due to the nature of my body as I felt the Qi of the Idiot pass through me and out into the Lava as I felt his senses behind my eyes, watching the lava intently.

I sat there for a long time before the Idiot shouted in excitement in my head.

'A little warning before you shout like that again in the future'

'Forget that, you just hit the jackpot, I can't believe your luck'

'What are you talking about? That's just Lava-'

'Just lava? You fool! I am sensing Primordial energies in this thing. This is Primordial Lava! If we can figure out a way to cool it down without it losing its properties, we can create Primordial Earth Essence'

Help support creative writers by finding and reading their stories on the original site.

'….What is Primordial Earth Essence?'

'….You know what? I am wasting my breath on you. All you need to know is that it is an extremely valuable mineral and we absolutely must get as much of it as we can'

'How valuable are we talking about?'

'Valuable enough to bring about another Demonic Beast-Human war, only this time, every faction will fight for themselves, in simple terms, continent-wide chaos'

His words were so shocking that I forgot that we were still connected and I directly turned away from the Lava sea, staring directly into the blue fire that was blazing in front of me two blocks away.

I immediately heard him scream in pain as he cut off his senses from mine before he calmed down.

'Primordial Fire? What the hell? How is it possible that two Primordial Elements are situated so close to each other?'

'…..I am guessing this is another valuable material?'

'Of course, it is, anything that is called primordial is invaluable to Cultivators that use that element, The Primordial Earth Essence will help an Earth element cultivator, such as those from the Heavenly Edge sect, to improve by leaps and bounds with even just small amount of said element, not to mention the qualitative change it would give to their elemental manipulation, and here? I am seeing a literal sea of that material. In a similar way, Primordial Fire will help those of the Fire element to Cultivate at unholy speeds even with a small amount, you see where I am going with this?'

'….Yeah, let's see if we can profit from this in the future when we decide to visit civilization again. But for now, we still have the problem of figuring out how to make more obsidian since my first plan has failed'

'Of course the plan has failed you fool, have you not heard anything I said? This is a Primordial Element, and the only thing that can make it change its form, whether it be cooling it down or turning it into Obsidian, is another Primordial Element, in this case, Primordial Waters. Unfortunately, I don't see any Primordial Water in this place.'

My abnormal brain immediately started to think and go through a number of theories and conjectures based on what he said and what I already knew, slowly forming a plausible hypothesis all the while my senses started to scan everything around me to find any further evidence to support my theory.

Now, to see if I am right.

'So, you are saying that the Lava, as well as the Fire, are Primordial elements?'

'Yes!'

'Then what about the sand over there?'

I looked towards the Soul sand, allowing the Idiot to focus his Qi.

'….My god! What the hell is that? It is full of Yin Qi, I can even sense the presence of some kind of a soul-no wait! Multiple souls?? Stay away from that sand!'

Okay, that's proof number 1, now, a few more tests.

'Scan this' I said as I looked towards the Crimson trees and the Warped trees.

'Primordial wood, although, it seems to be corrupted somehow, I can sense Demonic Qi in them but it is very little, it should not have too much effect on the overall effectiveness of the element in cultivation'

That proves it. My theory was right.

Every item in the Minecraft world is somehow considered a Primordial Material in the other world. But the question still remains.

How is this possible? Does this have anything to do with that stupid artifact that brought me here in the first place and then disappeared immediately? Or is there some connection between Minecraft, my old world, and this world? Or am I thinking too much and all of this is nothing but a huge coincidence? I don't have an answer yet, but for now, I have a direction to carry out my research.

Wait, now that I think about it, is the nether being effected by Game mechanics?

That would explain why I was unable to turn the lava into obsidian, although the idiot's theory is also plausible so I can't deny that either.

'Okay, since we need Primordial Water to make Obsidian in this place, we need to head back to our world and make Obsidian the hard way before we can make a portal here, assuming it works and takes us to the Overworld, we might find Primordial Water there'

'Wait a minute, did you just say 'assuming'? Are you saying you were not even sure if your stupid plan to go to this 'Overworld' would even work?'

'I told you before, I don't promise anything when it comes to the unknown'

'To hell with your promises, did you make me go through all that pain when you were handling Obsidian not even knowing your plan would work? Did you transport us into this hellish dimension, not even sure if we can make another portal out of here?'

'In my defense, I was pretty sure it would work like in the game, I didn't know this world was made of some kind of Primordial things that required a special approach' For now anyway, until I can either prove my theory right, or prove his theory right.

'……You were sure it was going to work because It worked in some game?'

'Yup'

'……You are a suicidal bastard aren't you?'

'…Maybe? Just a little'

'…..And I am stuck with you forever

'Yes'

'…..I hate you

After gathering a lot of the Lava, which the idiot insisted that I refer to as Primordial Earth essence, and grabbing as much Soul Sand as I could, I started walking back towards the direction that I came from when I ended up stumbling upon something I didn't think I would see this soon.

'Wow, that is a massive structure'

'Yeah, that's a Nether Fortress, if the stories that I read back in my world are to be believed, this was supposedly some kind of a research lab used by an ancient race of humans before their extinction'

'Are you going to go in there?'

'Might as well, since we won't be coming back to this place for at least three months if it takes the same amount of time as before to make Obsidian blocks'

I walked onto the platform that stretched on and on like a bridge, connecting multiple structures throughout the Nether.

A delightful thing that I found during this time is that the Mobs here were responding exactly as they would if this were a game. They had a set aggro radius, a set motion, and set 'Hit points' so to speak, making it extremely nostalgic and hilariously easy for me to mow down anything that came my way thanks to the Power armor and the improved Diamond sword. They also dropped loot like in the game while poofing out of existence once they were defeated.

This more or less proved my theory right. This world is still running on game mechanics.

This shocked the Idiot into silence, followed by him having a mental breakdown at the sheer impossibility of what he was seeing.

But as I continued to explore the area, I continued to feel a sense of familiarity, like I had seen this pattern before, like I had been here before.

As I explored more, the sense only grew along with it, until I made my way to where I guessed the Blaze spawner was supposed to be.

Only to be met by a sight that shook me to the core.

'Hmm, that is some fine looking wood that house is made from, Primordial wood, no doubt about it. I would like to meet the person extravagant enough to use Primordial material to build a house like that.'

'Me'

'What?'

'……I'm that person, this is my house. I built it in the game'
