The Rise of Blaze
13. Solution

13. Solution

Scott told me which warehouse Aj and Viktor were leaving from. He also told me where and when the meeting was going to take place. They are apparently on their way there in a big white van.

"Blaze, we have to stop them. If what you say is true then AJ and Viktor will be arrested as soon as the deal takes place." Scott shouted so I could hear him through the helmet.

"You don't have to tell me that. Don't worry I know where we can intercept them." I shouted back and drove through the next red light. I had to be careful, because if the police stop me now, it's all over. But I had no choice but to disobey some traffic rules. As we weaved our way through the traffic, I thought about what would happen if AJ was arrested. If he decided to reveal everything about his dealings with Wright, I would lose any chance of ever making contact with Trident. I couldn't let that happen. I had to stop this deal. After 5 minutes we arrived at the intersection where I wanted to cut them off. Our light was red and we had no choice but to stop this time, as a lot of cars were rapidly crossing the intersection from the right and left.

"There they are!" Viktor shouted and pointed to a white van crossing the junction from the right.

"All right. Scott, hold on tight," I shouted. It wasn't possible to follow them on the road without causing an accident. So I decided to just keep following them on the sidewalk. I didn't notice much except for a few quiet shouts from some people behind ne. They probably insulted me because I drove on the sidewalk. When a gap finally opened up in the traffic, I pulled my bike through the oncoming traffic and into the van's lane. A lot of cars started honking their horns, but luckily for us, there were still no police to be seen.

"Are you crazy? We could have died!" Scott shouted after recovering from the shock.

"Look over there," I replied without answering his question. We had finally reached the van. Viktor must have noticed from the honking that Scott and I were behind him and pulled over to the side. When we were finally next to them, we got off the bike. Suddenly the door to the van opened and Viktor jumped out.

"Scott!!! Have you completely lost it now?" Viktor shouted and came towards us both.

"Viktor, you have to listen to me. We can explain this," Scott replied.

"We? Who is this maniac on the bike anyway?" Viktor asked me. I then took off my motorcycle helmet.

"Blaze? What are you two doing here?" Viktor asked me again, puzzled.

"So you say you have an explanation. Then let's hear it. It better be really good," AJ threatened us and got out of the van too. I told them the same thing I had told Scott before. They also thought I'd gone mad at first, but just like Scott, they had to believe me in the end because of the evidence.

"But that can't be true. We've never dealt with Jeff personally, but he has a big reputation in Manchester's underworld. Viktor said in astonishment.

"The man we met wasn't Jeff. From what Blaze has told us, we can assume that Jeff has been arrested and this man is supposed to replace him for the deal. But what worries me more than the fact that the Chief Constable of London is involved in the investigation is the third man in the picture. That's Shawn Keene, he's a politician running for mayor," explained AJ. He looked calm on the outside, but I could see from the look on his face that he was backed into a corner. He didn't know what to do next.

"A politician? Do you think he knows about our relationship with Mr. Wright?" Viktor asked. With every piece of information he received, his face grew paler and paler.

"We can assume that. He wants to take out Mr. Wright through us," AJ replied.

"All right, then we should get back to the warehouse as quickly as possible," Viktor concluded.

"I don't want to interfere in your business, but I have an idea," I said.

"Hey Blaze, we'd better stay out of this," Scott whispered to me. Is Scott actually worried about me right now? It's good that he doesn't seem to hate me anmore but I'm sorry Scott I have to take this opportunity.

"You should listen to Scott. We are grateful for your warning but-"

"Let it go Viktor, I want to hear his idea," AJ interrupted him.

"Seriously?" Viktor asked in astonishment.

"Yes, what do we have to lose if we listen to him for a moment". He looked at me expectantly and made it clear from his tone of voice that I'd better not say anything stupid now. Scott seemed at least as stressed by the situation as Viktor, who now looked like he could get a heartattack soon. Everyone looked at me expectantly and hoped that I had a solution. This was the situation I wanted. I took a deep breath and began to explain my plan.

It was a remote place near a garbage dump, but a big deal was about to take place here. AJ and Viktor arrived in their van a little later than agreed. The man who identified himself as Jeff was waiting for them in a black Mercedes. He got out of the car and approached them as soon as AJ came out of the van.

"Didn't we agree that the appointment would take place at exactly 11 pm?" He said angrily.

"Sorry, we got stuck in traffic," Aj apologized with a grin. This reaction seemed to unsettle Jeff slightly, as it was not what he had expected.

He hesitated slightly and then said, "I understand, the important thing is that you're here now.

"Shall we get down to business now? Here's the van with the goods you wanted," said AJ. Viktor was standing next to him, watching the whole situation without saying a word.

"Yes, that would probably be best," Jeff replied. He gave a signal and one of his men got out of the Mercedes and opened the door of the van. The van was filled from top to bottom with boxes. The man took out a box and opened it with a knife to check the contents.

"Looks good boss," he said.

"Well then AJ, here's your money," Jeff said and handed him a suitcase. The moment the suitcase was handed over, the man who had checked the goods earlier pushed Viktor to the ground. The man claiming to be Jeff then pulled out a gun and handcuffed AJ.

In less than a minute, police officers came from all corners. Some had equipment that suggested they were part of a special task force. Shawn had probably set things up so that nothing would go wrong with this operation.

"Jeff, what's this all about?" Shouted Viktor, who was still handcuffed on the floor.

"Isn't it obvious. I'm a policeman and you're being arrested for illegal drug dealing.

"Illegal drug dealing? We have nothing to do with that," said AJ.

"Then please explain to us why there are several kilograms of cocaine in the boxes you just sold," said a man who approached AJ together with the police chief. It was Spencer Keene.

"I'll be honest. I'm not interested in you at all. I know you work for Sam Wright. If you testify against him in court, I'll do everything in my power to get you immunity," he added. For a moment, all the commotion died down and it became quiet.

AJ broke the silence by saying, "You're right, I work for Mr. Wright".

"I knew it. Get them down to the station quickly for a statement" Spencer said statisfied.

"I'm sorry, you seem to be misunderstanding something here. We both work for Mr. Wright, but we have nothing to do with drugs," AJ clarified while smiling. Spencer didn't like the attitude Aj had at all.

"You don't seem to fully understand the situation you're in," he said threateningly.

"No, I don't think you understand the situation. That's not cocaine in the van, it's baking soda," AJ said with a laugh. It took Spencer a moment to realize exactly what AJ's words meant, but then it dawned on him. Not only he but also the police chief began to understood the situation they were in. They had been set up.

"You two check the contents of the boxes carefully," the police chief shouted at the others.

"You two shouldn't look so angry. After all, you'll be on tv soon," Viktor said. Shortly afterwards, just like the policemen before, vehicles came from every side near the square. They were various news agencies. The police did everything they could to prevent the cameramen from getting close to the scene. It caused a huge commotion again. Some news channels went live on the scene and broadcast the chaotic scene on TV.

The next day, every newspaper and program reported on the incident. The relationship between Spencer and the police chief was investigated. These investigations brought several scandals to light. Among other things, Spencer stood trial for corruption of several officials. The trial wasn't for another two months, but the evidence was overwhelming.

Me and Scott watched the whole situation from his home. I never thought he would invite me over after all the excitement. Even though he knew they couldn't hurt his uncle, he seemed to be worried, so he didn't want to be alone. He had Jane, but he knew that she would use the situation to teach him a lesson. Scott's worries dissipated when he learned that AJ and Viktor had been released after a few hours at the station. The police had no choice as there was no evidence to suggest any illegal activity. My plan was a total success. But there was one more thing I had to tell AJ soon and I knew he wouldn't like it. He wouldn't like it at all.
