“PD Lee, if I die here, I hope you get unending diarrhea and lose your hair!!” Ari was holding on for dear life with her eyes closed. The helicopter shook, but it didn't crash.
“W-What happened?” Ju-won couldn’t believe his eyes, the car did not hit them. He didnt catch it, but in a moment the car vanished from his vision then the explosion happened.
“What are you dumbasses doing here?” Do-Yun climbed in from the open side door, this frightened them but he disregarded it.
If he hadn’t kicked that car away in time, this helicopter would’ve been the death of them. He understood they needed to get the news, but why not do so at a higher altitude to reduce the risk?
He did not know that this was a request from the channel. No one thought or knew that the monster would chuck a whole car at them at that height.
“Go higher and you’ll be fine.” With that, he jumped off.
Whether his words carried over in the choppy wind or not was none of his concern. If they don’t increase their altitude after facing such a situation, then it was their fault.
“Rahhhhh!!" The warrior greeted Do-Yun with a violent shout when he landed.
But instead of charging at him, he moved back. Trying to get something to throw back at the helicopter without any openings.
“Here comes the last shot.” Do-Yun smiled and stepped forward. Power strike used four magic energy per attack, and he used it twice. The next use shot was the last one.
Seeing his charge, the warrior stabilized his position. He swung the club with one hand keeping the other free. It was a low swing that left a small space below, and the only option was to jump above it. To not get caught, Do-Yun stopped before the swing, a little mistake that could’ve snapped his spine.
The warrior was late when the Blue fist came towards him, in desperation he pushed his free hand to stop the attack.
But only a weak punch landed on his left hand, grinning Do-Yun’s right fist dug into the Warrior’s chest. Power Strike only applied to the hand the user wanted it to be on, but both gloves glowed the same. He remembered this as a certain Goblin gave him the same treatment.
There was a crisp crunch caused by his ribcage caving in, blood burst forth from his mouth as he fell to his knees. The red aura vanished like smoke as weakness struck the Warrior. His punctured lungs filled with blood making breathing tough.
“This is why you protect your Heart using Aura,” Do-Yun disrupted the Monster’s Aura Circulation. Normal Aura users wouldn’t be this vulnerable. But Blood Aura’s violent nature and the user's unfamiliarity. Causing such a disarray with a Power Strike's residual energy was easier. The recoil dealt almost double the damage than his attack.
“Saiie—khai—Ac!” It was like a bomb exploding near the heart.
“You seem to have some last words?” Do-Yun folded his arms. If that was true, then it was unfortunate.

“…Shea…… Raka… Ak—iek…” The warrior fell without completing his last words.
Lee Do-Yun stood there covered in dried-up blue blood of the monsters he had slain. After stretching, he walked away as the video ended when he exited the frame.
[The unknown man seen in this video is the one who defeated the ‘Last Monster’ of the Jam-sil gate. Although, some have criticised his recklessness in confronting said monster. Many praise him for his willingness to step in and regard him as a her—] Do-Yun turned the TV off. What nonsense was this? All they showed was his back.
“What Hero? I had to walk back home,” Do-Yun slurped the noodles with a frown.
Though he did not blame them, if he was a taxi driver he wouldn’t take a passenger covered in blood, especially blue blood. Because of that, he had to walk all the way home—over 5 km—in Cheon-ho. This wouldn’t have been such a big issue if his body wasn't crying with each step. Magic energy fatigue was a pain. Though he looked more drunk when he walked.
Even after a long hot bath, his body wasn’t in any better shape. He had no complaints about the instant ramen but it was not enough. Which is why he mulled over the information he got while waiting for the food delivery.
“To think that Earth changed so much in two weeks…” He placed the empty bowl on the table and leaned back.
Unlike his assumptions, his departure and arrival on Earth had a gap. It has been two weeks since the appearance of Gates and Awakened. Both of these appeared on the same day he got sent to Orion.

He only understood it when he saw the date on the calendar, and the worst part was that he had nothing but his clothes. His phone, house keys, and wallet were gone. Long destroyed in the other world upon his transfer or lost in his journey. There was no way of getting them back. He only got into his flat thanks to the spare key left with his neighbor.
But this was troublesome, with neither money in his pocket nor a card to withdraw from the bank account. It made him wonder how he would pass the next few days before the card gets reissued.
“Wait, how am I going to pay for the food?” He blinked.
That order made on an empty stomach through the laptop had become a dilemma. And after having some food, his brain was working a little. Though, he didn’t have the luxury. The chirpy bell rang, and seeing no escape he opened the door with a smile.
“Two black bean noodles, and one serving of spicy fried chicken,” That man said with two white plastic bags in hand. The price was not high, but he couldn't pay for them. Not the normal way.
“Do you guys accept cheques?” Do-Yun held a little hope.
Yet, the delivery man did not. After staring at him for a few seconds and some deep breaths. He turned and walked away. He wasn’t getting paid enough to deal with this.
“That’s a 'No' I suppose…” Do-Yun sighed.
He was about to go inside and fix himself another few instant ramen, but someone called out to him.
“What happened, Do-Yun?” It was the old lady with a wrinkled face. She was the one who kept his spare key.
“Nothing Granny, I ordered food and forgot that I didn’t have any cash on me,” He said.
They had been neighbors for as long as he could remember. This old woman even took care of him when he was young.
“I thought you grew past your habit of losing your belongings,” She chuckled. This brought back some fond memories for her, but there were pressing matters.
“Come in, have some dinner with me,” She said, and turned around. So he didn’t have much of a choice now.
“Did you make too much food again?” Do-Yun asked.
Kim Seol-hwa was about to turn 72 in a few months. But this habit of hers didn’t go away.
“It slips my mind because of the ruckus you cause. So the least you can do is help me finish the food,” She said looking over her shoulder when he closed the door to her house.
“Yes, I’ll finish all that delicious food even if you don’t say that,” Do-Yun entered the living room behind her. It had a few pictures and furniture with a basic design. To an extent, this place was more familiar to him than his own apartment next door.
“That’s good. Young boys should eat a lot,” Kim Seol-hwa walked at her own pace. She was slow and steady, but he matched her pace.
“Yes, but don’t you cook a little too much?” The dinner table full of dishes made him sigh. Do-Yun remembered how much he used to eat with her, if it was someone else they’d put up a considerable amount of weight.
“You say that but don’t you always finish the food?” She shook her head and took the first bite. If she didn’t he wouldn’t start either.
“That’s because, one It is delicious. And two. You will get angry. If I leave something behind,” Do-Yun said between bites. He was starving. And he missed this home-cooked meal a lot.
“Tasty or not. Wasting food isn't an option,” Going through tough times showed her how tough it can be to get a single bowl of rice.
Do-Yun nodded. He had faced this situation firsthand. Any food is a luxury when you don’t have anything.
The rest of the dinner continued in silence. Seol-hwa ate slower as opposed to Do-Yun. After finishing the food, he took the dishes to the sink before she stood up.
“Don’t start washing them now,” She shook her head and headed for the living room as Do-Yun followed.
‘It is good she agreed to hire someone for chores,’ It was the hardest task he tackled in this world.
But his thoughts stopped when she sat on the couch and beckoned him over.
He sat down next to her and stared ahead. On the wall where a T.V. would've looked good, hung pictures of her son with her. From when he was born, right up to when he looked about Do-Yun's age. They were content even if the rooms in the background were worse than the current one.
“Did you contact him again?” He asked.
“I haven’t… since that day I couldn’t do that,” She answered.
“Why? You have every right to ask for an explanation,” The kid she raised and sent to university on her own. Left her because of their poor status.
“It is fine, I understand it,” Seol-hwa smiled, “I did the same thing.”
She was 21 when her husband passed in a work accident. It was possible for her to remarry if she abandoned the child. But even if her parents pushed for it she shut them down. Frustrated, they left her alone, they never offered help, and she never asked for anything.
But the son she raised left her and never looked back. It has been years since he even inquired about her wellbeing.
How were these two situations similar in any way?
“We can never know why a person behaves a certain way. All we can do is make assumptions whether that be good or bad is up to us. Even if they do say something it is never the full truth. So, why not make a good assumption instead of a bad one?” Her eyes closed, Seol-hwa didn’t want to think that her son was suffering after he left her.
If he did that, then there must be something of equal value, and she hoped it was good. Do-Yun didn’t understand it when he first heard of this, but now it was different.
“That is why I wasn’t worried when you went missing two weeks ago,” She said.
“What? That kinda hurts, you know?” He turned towards her.
“Hmm? Maybe I’ll try to worry next time?”
“Don’t think it will be a recurring event…” He sighed while she chuckled. After a while she opened her eyes and turned to the clock.
“Go and sleep now, it is already past your bedtime,” She said.
“It is only 8 P.M. Do I look like a kid?” He sighed but his steps guided him towards the door.
He needed the sleep but because of his fatigue, it definitely wasn’t his bedtime yet. But when he reached out for the door he heard her voice.
“I am glad that you came back,” A small smile appeared on his lips.
“Me too, where else can I find such a filling meal?” It had been years, and he was glad he could taste it again.
“Then come by more often,”
“I was going to anyway. Good night Granny,” Do-Yun exited the house with a smile. In the silent room she shook her head, once someone gets accustomed to noise it is tough to return to silence.
“It feels like it was yesterday when he used to cry,” Seol-hwa hadn’t heard that cry for a long time. But that too was the nature of a child.
“Boys… they grow up so fast, don’t they?” She stood up.
After a final look at the photographs, she went to her bedroom and lay on the bed.
