6: Flying Car?

“I guess, I’ll have to teach you with your body,” Do-Yun smirked.

Of course, The Hobgoblin could not understand him and rushed in. He would’ve attacked regardless, but this time it was consecutive attacks that tore through the air aiming to catch him in a position with no escape.

“Put your back into it, these are nothing.” He did come close a few times, but Do-yun always slipped away unharmed.

Regardless, the Warrior advanced using both of his hands. He wanted, no he needed to slam the club onto Do-Yun’s head. But he only met the concrete ground, creating a deep crater under his feet.

He had good power but his speed was lacking when compared to Do-Yun who was a smaller target. If this continued he would have even less of a chance to land an attack while accumulating damage. But this would be the case if his opponent wanted to be safe.

Do-Yun flashed a playful smile stepping close to the Hobgoblin. His fist drove into the latter chest, sending him flying like a cannonball, crashing onto the street.

There was no time to catch a break as a shadow formed over him, the Hob used his club to smack it away the delivery truck last second, it was now resting on the 5th floor of the building on the right.

But he couldn’t stop the truck that came barrelling into his side. The truck itself did not do much to him, but with his vision obscured he didn’t know when Do-Yun ran up and drop kicked him.

If this continued then the Warrior would continue to be toyed with, and that was unacceptable.

“Oh?” Do-Yun exclaimed as his feet were caught by the Hob, “You are finally getting serious-Woahh!!!!”

Being flung away wasn’t fun, especially when one was spinning around like Frisbee in the wild wind. But an unexpected savior came to Do-Yun’s help. It was a tall building that helped him break his fall, and after going through a few floors he stopped.

“That was worse than the first time I rode a drag—Blerg!” All of his system was shaken as a rainbow nearly formed at his mouth, if he knew something like this would happen he wouldn’t have eaten anything before.

Regardless, holding it in was better as he didn’t want to vomit on someone else’s carpet. Finding the toilet was also out of the question as the warrior blasted into the scene, his body and the club in his hands were covered in a flame-like hue. The moment he landed the jagged club was swung with no regard.

The red hue was like a force of nature that ground everything in the way. Watching it Do-Yun took a step forward bringing his fist back there were no plans of dodging as bluish air gathered around his fist. It had nothing to do with his ability rather it was a skill that came with the equipment.

[The Skill Power Strike(D+) has been activated... damage increased by 30%.]

A skill embedded in a piece of equipment can be used at any moment if enough Magical energy is provided, as simple as turning a switch on. Even though he didn’t have enough Mana right now, he had just enough to use this.

The fist met the spiked club and the energy converged into one place for an instant before it exploded violently. The waves of red and blue scattered blasting through the floor, but the two did not stop.

The Warrior’s swings were felt by the entire structure, destroying the pillars as Do-yun was pushed back by the increased speed. He barely dodged an attack to the head that crashed into another support pillar, that was when he saw the ceiling coming closer. But the first one to feel it was the Hob. Holding it up with his hands he caught it anger boiled within his heated body. He was just about to get his prey but this thing stopped him.

He wanted to throw it away but the weight of ten floors made his knees bend, still, he tried to push it. More strength, he just needed more strength! Just like always it wasn’t enough. No, it was never enough! But he wouldn’t give up he’ll harness more of it. Enough so that he can throw this nuisance away.

“RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!” The red hue gathered around his arms, and the aura that ran amok like wildfire was now concentrated into a thin layer around his arms. Feeling his strength skyrocket he pushed the floors above with all of his strength before the floor beneath his feet gave way. The upper part of the building keeled over the side crashing onto the smaller buildings nearby as the structure shook, now under the clear skies he turned to his enemy, the one he needed to kill.

“Impressive, your command over the Blood Aura improved exponentially.” But Do-Yun was far from intimidated, in fact, he allowed him to have his moment. Even now he was waiting for him to make the first attack with a smile.

The Warrior got down to business, now he was about to teach this human a lesson. The increased power was overflowing through his muscles, he felt like everything would be destroyed under his attacks when he lifted the club.

With a lunge, he already arrived in front of his target, but before his downward strike could land Do-Yun stepped to the side, and with a fluid movement his fist struck the warrior’s chin at the same moment the club hit the floor.

His head was ringing as his shaky eyes were gazing at the sun, but snapping his head down he tried to kick Do-Yun only to swing in the air as a kick was delivered to his other knee bringing him down on the floor where a blue fist greeted the side of his head.

The rattled brain couldn’t react as a kick to the back launched him off the building. The warrior struck a rough landing atop a bus as blood dripped from his mouth and ears. But he quickly rolled away as Do-Yun landed on the ground narrowly missing him. Swinging the club did nothing but smash the nearby wall. Trying to catch a breath the warrior tried to move back but he followed with a smirk.

No matter how much he tried. Hitting Do-Yun was impossible; he walked through his attacks as if knowing of them in advance. Nothing mattered, the intensity of the Blood aura or the strength that it provided, all of his attacks, his speed, all useless.

He was the stronger one. So, why was he lying on the ground bleeding? Why did none of his attacks land? Why was it that this slow human could smack him around still? His red eyes fixed on the man who knew the answer to this puzzle.

Blood Aura did provide the user with strength beyond their means by consuming their blood and flesh, but therein was the problem.

“Your attacks become predictable when get more power than what can be used. But the real surprise is how can monster with such power came out of a D-ranked Gate…” Do-Yun’s words never reached the recipient, but that was of no importance. He winded his right arm a few times to get ready for the finishing attack as the wind started to pick up.

Startled by the blowing dust around him he stared at his hand for a moment, but it was neither him nor the Warrior who caused this. It was a helicopter above their heads, and it looked anything but a military one. But why was it waving around above a dangerous area?

“These idiots…” Do-Yun facepalmed. It had become more and more apparent to him that Earth still hadn’t seen how dangerous these monsters could be.

“Gettttttt KIiiiiEKKKKKK!” With a high-pitched scream, the Warrior scrambled up to his feet, and as if in a trance or fear he chucked a nearby car at the flying object that appeared in his vision.

Then an explosion occurred.

Being a field reporter was a tough job, you had to bear the weather no matter how hot or cold it was, and meet some less-than-savory people trying to get fresh information from the source. Worst of all the industry itself was not in a great state, many because the real stories were buried under the rubble of lies that were run only for the purpose of entertainment.

Even then there were some field reporters who didn’t give up, they wanted the people to know the truth. That is why they kept working, no matter how harsh the conditions got or how many of their stories got scrapped.

“Yoo Ari, you got everything?” The cameraman Ju-won asked the young woman not too far from him.

She was a new recruit but was already a popular name for all of the wrong reasons, she was offered to be an anchor, but she decided to be a field reporter much to others' disappointment and because of an incident on live TV, she was now in thrown into a smaller and recently made department. But she was not shaken in the least and continued onward.

“Yes, I have. Hopefully, they have prepared enough for me.” Her indigo eyes shone brightly in the parking lot. Ju-won sighed, it was his bad luck to be paired with her but there was no point in complaining.

They needed to get on their way to Gang-nam to interview the strike team assembled by the Park Conglomerate, this team handled the Gate—A popular term coined on the internet forums by the common people—in that area, but there was a big problem with their conduct at least to Yoo Ari.

‘Why are they not helping other areas?’ The Gate near Blue House caused substantial damage to both life and property, and people in Garak and Jam-sil were still fleeing from monsters. In a time when other awakened were rushing to help, even willing to come from Incheon and as far as Busan. Why were they just idling around while being so close? (It takes half an hour to reach Jam-sil from Gang-nam)

No matter how she saw it, this didn’t make sense.

“Yoo Ari!” Her startled eyes turned to the source of the voice.

It was a bald man with a pot belly running towards her. PD Lee Ki-Bum, his evening show was based on Gates and the changes it has caused in the modern world. So far it was a small show as no real progress had been made regarding the Gates, but now things were different. And Yoo Ari was on her way to film for this very show.

“Ditch Gang-nam right now, there is big news in Garak!” PD Lee was out of breath but his enthusiasm was unmatched.

The news of the army quelling the monster rampage there has reached the news channel, and there was another spicy piece of gossip that flew in with it.

“A lone man killing monsters in that chaos?” Ari’s eyebrow shot up.

It wasn’t like one or two had said this, many testified about a man running around with a dagger and a stick going after Monster instead of running, some even said that he looked more like a monster to them. Even the Army’s Second Awakened Unit’s leader Park Chan-Yeol said that it wouldn’t be possible to save so many lives without that man taking the lead.

“That’s top-tier news.” Ari’s eyes twinkled.

“I know, so go the helicopter has been prepared! No time to lose!” PD Lee urged her, that the bridges to the south side of Seoul were blocked save for a few, and with the condition of roads in certain areas, it was impossible to travel by van. Thankfully, their station was providing them full support for this project.

“I will bring in good news!” Ari was already sprinting away. The Park Strike team can wait, truthfully she erased them from her mind and started to prepare how she’ll interview this man.

Five minutes later, the helicopter was now hovering over a torn building in Seok-chon. There was no leisure as it was facing imminent danger in the form of a car that was flying towards it.

“PD Lee if I die hope you get unending diarrhea and lose all of your hair!!”
