Do-Yun, Eun-Young, and Byung-Ho were in their van driving down the road. The truck full of their loot followed them behind. However, the silence in the van didn’t last long.
“Do you get a rise out of pissing off people?” Eun-Young remembered the way Da-Eun trembled in anger because of what Do-Yun did.
“Not really, why do you ask Eun-Young-Ah?” Confused, he looked back.
“Because it looks like you do.” Even now she felt like he did it on purpose.
That was true in a sense, but he didn’t have those intentions when dealing with Da-Eun today.
“I gave her the perfect amount according to what she charges.” He said.
“That one-by-half-meter skin is worth 2 Million Won?” Eun-Young’s eyebrow rose.
Didn’t they have a lot of that? It would fetch an incredible amount of money if they sold it at that price.
“For now it is worth that much. Depending on how we use it, the price can either rise or fall.” Do-Yun’s words made sense and gave her another piece of information to understand what he was doing.
“You gave it to her because you want them to approach you about buying more. But it shouldn’t be money that you are after right? What are you looking for now?” With this amount of serpent skin, he could only be looking for one thing.
“I want to meet the Item craftsman they have.” Do-Yun’s lips formed a mischievous smile.
“So, Hyung noticed too.” Byung-Ho who stayed silent till now spoke up.
“Yes, the Coat she wore today and in the special interview two days ago. It was made of the Monster we hunted last week.” Do-Yun explained so that Eun-Young doesn’t get lost in the conversation.
The unique spotted pattern on the Blue Horned Bison hide was visible on the coat. They could notice it at a glance because they sold that material to the Association. All he had to do next was confirm it in person.
“So, you planned it all from the start?” The pieces fell into place when Eun-Young thought about it.
Before the Raid even started he called for Da-Eun with the excuse of an injury. Then he pulled that stunt to get injured, and now he sent her back with the valuable material. This would pull the Item maker’s attention for sure as the amount he sent wasn’t enough to make a full product. But, why would he go through so much mental gymnastics?
“If we want to raid the tower, isn’t it a given to prepare to the best we can?” Do-Yun stretched his arms in the front seat.
“Can’t deny that,” Eun-Young knew that his attitude may be a problem for the most part. But, that wasn’t all to him.
“An item manufacturer is important for that. Also, I want to know if the Association controls them or if they have some agency of their own.” Do-Yun already had an idea about the answer, but believing in guesses wasn’t a good idea.
‘Thankfully, he is serious in this regard. Or I don’t know what type of troubles we would have had to face in the future.’ Their safety came first, especially for Eun-Young.
Armour made of monster materials would help a lot with that. That serpent’s skin became the perfect material for them to gain extra defense. Not only did he know about it, he made plans for it before anyone else. Although she had some doubts about how he knew of this. Eun-Young decided to not waste her time on this.
‘I don’t care where that knowledge comes from as long as it doesn’t create problems for me.’ So far, Do-Yun appeared to be the only one who could lead her to her goal.
“After we drop these materials in the warehouse, we will go to the next Gate.” Hearing that, Eun-Young’s eyes narrowed to slits.
“You don’t plan to pull that bullshit again, right?” Even Byung-Ho looked over with concern. Neither of them wanted to do that again.
But he gave them a sweet smile in return. Most wouldn’t question him or try to oppose him after that. But, Byung-Ho started to sweat. They can’t avoid it, because if tries to create a problem he would drive them into a corner like he did in the previous raid.
“Don’t worry it will be different this time. The surprise element won’t work the same way.” Do-Yun chuckled at the faces they made. But, as he said Do-Yun had no plans on doing things the same way.
“This time you guys will learn how to cover for the non-combatant awakened like Da-Eun from before. As a healer she can’t fight on her own, so in battles she would need protection from the front.” Do-Yun had to do this to get them ready. It was an important part of training for Awakened new to raids.
“Even if we do not have Healers or mages, we have to train while keeping the future in mind. Also, this will come in handy when one of us gets injured and the others need to cover for them.” His words made too much sense for them to refute.
So, they could only nod along and hope he stay true to his words and not pull another stunt. But, another thing caught Eun-Young’s attention.
“You’d take part in protecting as well, won’t you?” She thought this was only natural, and he nodded in agreement.

‘Although I did learn all this, it has been thousands of years since I have put it into practice. So, I might be a little rusty.’ This seemed like a good opportunity for him to brush up on the basics of team play he learned back in the day.
‘Ariel had so much fun teaching me about stuff like this. Good old days of pure torture…’ Do-Yun smiled thinking of the past.
When he first landed in the other world, he became an outcast in record time. Because in a land unknown, a strange human that looked different and didn’t even speak their language. He had a tough start and almost starved to death, but someone helped him at that time.
‘I’ve learned how to train others from her, and even if I did hate it at the start. I can’t deny that it is efficient.’ Eun-Young felt chills from the smile on Do-Yun’s face.
She knew something was about to go wrong in the upcoming dungeons.
And it did happen when they least expected it…
“That bastard did it again.” Eun-Young cursed climbing the stairs of the building her house was in.
After they completed their turn protecting Do-Yun through two Gates. He stepped forward to be the second attacker alongside Byung-Ho. After one perfect clear, she thought that he wouldn’t create a problem, and then he created another problem.
‘When you stop expecting the unexpected, things you don’t expect happen.’ He led the Boss monster straight to her with loud laughter as she rested. But, she wasn’t fazed much this time and the raid ended without any problems.
If she could, Eun-Young would leave the team right there and then.
‘But, It is too late to run away now.’ The screen of her phone showed the balance in her bank account.
19 Million Won. She made that much in less than 10 hours. Although this was only limited for today, Do-Yun didn’t take a cut of the Raid rewards. Eun-Young could still make more money than she imagined from this.
“It is really pissing me off though.” With a sigh, she wiped all the worries from her face and opened the door to her house.
“Big Sis, you are finally back!” Upon entrance, a somewhat angry Eun-Sook waited for her.
“Yes, did you have dinner?” Eun-Young already knew why her sister seemed unhappy.
“No, but before that, why did you not eat anything last night?” Eun-Sook didn’t expect her sister to be this sneaky. And she left without having breakfast too.
‘Did she spend the entire day on an empty stomach?’ Eun-Sook clenched her small hands into fists. She knew that they didn’t have much, but it would be better for her sister to eat. After all, she had to go out in the sun unlike her.
“Leave yesterday’s worries behind with the day. Let’s go out for dinner for today.” Eun-Sook’s eyes widened when she heard that.
‘Has she finally lost it?’
“You are asking for a beating kid.” Eun-Young could read her thoughts from the expression alone.
An awkward laughter left Eun-Sook. She knew it was rude, but considering their financial situation her sister had to be crazy to talk about dining outside.
“Come, we are going to the barbeque place down the road.” But, her sister sounded serious. She placed her old bag down by the door and looked ready to turn back.
‘Did she get a job? No, even then…’ Reluctant, Eun-Sook followed her sister down the building.
In the end, she knew that her sister wasn’t an irresponsible person. If she wanted to take her to eat outside, she must have the money to pay. But wouldn’t it be better to save it?
Walking down the road, Eun-Sook glanced at her sister. She just noticed it but her sister had different clothes on. Unlike her previous washed-out and stretched t-shirts and old ripped jeans, the clothes she had appeared new. Even the yellowing shoes got replaced with new white ones. Although they didn’t look expensive. Getting new clothes itself was a luxury for them.
However, Eun-Young didn’t let her stay in her thoughts for long.
“You can really eat till your stomach is full today.”
Eun-Sook’s eyes widened. Her sister knew that she lied about Min-Ji treating her to barbeque before. She didn’t know when she got caught, as she had continued to lie for a few days. The silver lining was that her sister didn’t look angry. Lately, it had become difficult to tell what went on in Eun-Young’s mind. But, she had to deal with a more pressing matter right now.
“You know Big Sis you shouldn’t confront someone like that when they lie with good intentions,” Eun-Sook said.
“Why lie at all? You should have told me about it.” Seeing the tiny frown on Eun-Young’s forehead, she shook her head.
“Sometimes it is easier to lie.” If Eun-Sook had spoken the truth, it would’ve done nothing but put more pressure on her sister.
Her sister tried her hardest to find a job. If she how bad their conditions have become, It would make Eun-Young take desperate measures with potential dangers. And that wasn’t what she wanted.
“If staying hungry for a few days could help reduce your burden then I’d do it again. After all, you’ve always done more for me.” Eun-Sook couldn’t do much herself and had to rely on her Big sister for everything. So, when a chance to help a little came around, she didn’t hesitate.
Even if she knew that Eun-Young would scold her for lying later.
“Don’t worry you won’t have to do that again.” But unlike the sermon Eun-Sook prepared for, her sister smiled for the first time in a while, “You won’t lack anything from here on out, I promise you that.”
But, it looked like her sister misunderstood something.
“You know sis, I don’t lack anything.” She took hold of Eun-Young’s hand and continued with a big smile, “I already have everything I want with me.”
It took a moment for Eun-Young to process the words her younger sister said. Eun-Sook has always been the expressive kind, but not like this. However, it wasn’t a bad thing at all.
“Are you watching too many dramas these days or what?” Even with the condescending words, Eun-Young’s smile didn’t fade away.
“Yeah, I watched a few at Min-Ji’s place. They were a bit dumb and cheesy, but fun to watch.” Eun-Sook giggled.
“I see, call Min-Ji over too. I promised to treat her.” Eun-Young said wondering if she should buy a T.V. for their house right away.
“For real? She’d be super happy.” Eun-Sook took out her phone in a hurry and sent the text.
‘It is just simple barbeque. Is that something to be happy about?’ Eun-Young didn’t understand what the clamor was about.
‘Maybe it is just kids being kids. That's not too bad.’ She decided to let it be when they cheered about having ice cream for dessert.
It was good that they could enjoy their time at that age.
Even though today had it’s ups and downs. Eun-Young now had a clear goal for the future. She knew the rollercoaster ride would continue, and her new job didn’t provide any seatbelts for safety.
‘Even then I cannot stop till I heal Eun-Sook.’ Eun-Young’s resolve would not be shaken by anything.
The Next Day…
Today was an important day. Someone arrived at their doorstep to buy the materials their team gathered yesterday. They would make a good amount of cash if the deal went smoothly.
“My name is Park Hyuk, It is a pleasure to meet you Sir Lee Do-Yun.” A well-dressed elderly man with greying hair came in and offered a handshake.
“Yes Yes, it is very nice to meet you, Mr. Park. It is so nice that I don’t even want to talk with you.” Do-Yun said with a wide smile.
“What?”
“It is very simple Mr. Park.” Soon the smile dropped from Do-Yun’s face, “Get the fuck out of my face.”
“Huh…?”
Even Eun-Young watching from the sidelines couldn’t understand what happened.
‘What did I get myself into?’ She had never second-guessed herself that quick.
