Dancing Stars

Looking up at the stars from the world of Origin, some might give you flashes of brief emotion.

Were these really the same lights in the sky they’d once known?

These "new" stars all had their own unique and unusual qualities, each giving off impressions that the previous stars did not...

The first star, once bright and confident had begun to grow darker, its impressions dulling slightly...

From the second star one could sense boundless curiosity, like that of a child who asked questions until they were blue in the face.

Next, Twin Stars could be seen amongst the array of night lights. They shifted and moved mysteriously, though the impression was vague.

From another, a sense of stubborn prideful arrogance could be felt. A haughty star that dared anyone and anything to come challenge it.

One star gave off a sense of discomfort in one's body, an invasive force that stretched and twisted the stomach.

Suddenly, as the occasional observers stared into the night sky, beams of light flashed across the sky and throughout the void, the stars lighting up for the briefest of moments.

Some sort of dance being played out in the heavens?

As one star flashed, a sense of thriving joyful desire was conveyed to a few souls below.

Those who had fires inside of them that burned passionately, eager to tackle the biggest of challenges...

Another star gave off an impressive sense of sharp stillness, like that of a fatal unavoidable spear, a subtle creeping coldness underneath.

In contrast to this sharpness, another star amongst the sparks gave off a soft, comforting impression that could make one’s body relax. It felt like one was lying in a fluffy bundle of clouds.

This novel's true home is a different platform. Support the author by finding it there.

The stars danced above, as if trying to convey something but unable to quite grasp the means to do so.

During the dance one light expressed a watchful gaze trained upon the world and its siblings in eagerness, as if absorbing everything like it was watching a tale unfold.

What felt like whimsical joy came from another before its line of energy shot out. The star seemed to be seeking something...

Though the stars gave off such impressions they were of little consequence for now. Something that didn’t last in the minds of the observers. Most of the inhabitants didn't even get the chance to notice these subtleties. After all, they were busy...

All around Origin, scenes of horror and wonder played out.

Some people had the most beautiful, wonderful experience of their life. They were living the dream. Others however were experiencing the exact opposite, a living nightmare.

As all this went on below, more stars shimmered and sparkled in the night sky.

A star that seemed to contain vast numbers of tiny almost imperceptible dots of light within it, their impressions so subtle it was barely noticeable.

Behind the others a shadow lurked, shifting in forms slightly giving a dark and foreboding impression.

Similar in nature another star hung on the outskirts of the cluster with a wide orbit, as if sneaking around in its siblings.

More stars joined the cluster but it was hard to notice all of them at the same time.

As all this went on simultaneously in the void, the world below also seemed to shift and respond.

A heavy pressure rushed out of the world below, aimed straight for one of the stars.

With impressions of fond and deep memories of the past, the star that had suddenly flickered. As soon as the line of light had finished being conjured and was sent to the world the star grew still and heavy.

A pressure grasped the star, holding it still as if something large and heavy was choking it...

For a long still moment, the star hung in the void, unmoving.

Then it was released, shakily returning to its original path.

Immediately after the star had been released billows of vast and thick purple mist shot out from the colourful nebula the stars surrounded.

It blanketed all of the stars obstructing their view...

[WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!? WE MUST SPEAK, NOW!]

A Deep and powerful voice came from the nebulas. The usual playfulness was gone, now replaced by an urgent, serious tone.

The flickering sparks of the sky, surrounded by the pressure and weight of the nebulas attention slowed, their movement almost coming to a halt.

[I do not have long so I’ll be quick,

You’ve managed to grab the attention of the world below.

I don’t know what you did to trigger such a response but fortunately, it seems we haven’t been deemed a threat.... YET...

I must retreat now but it looks like I will have to use what little power I have now to speed up things.

Soon the World of Origin will awaken. When it does, make sure you do not gain its ire!]

Upon the voice finishing its message, the thick and deep pressure of the nebula released. The mist began to speed back in a quick retreat.

A moment later, something small and solid remained in the middle of the stars, a thick opaque ball of deep purple surrounded by incredibly small clouds. The vast and deep purple mist of the nebula no longer in sight...

The void was silent...
