Chapter 8 - Departure
I grabbed the next book that seemed like it could be somewhat useful. It carried the title "The Worlds Will", the name that the system called itself in some of the notifications I received when I was born.
What a waste of time. That book is full of nonsense. I expected it to some extent, but this is really extreme. It's like a delusional fanfiction written by someone completely insane. A bit more and this would have landed in the romance section. How absurd.
I quickly put the book back where it came from and made my way over to where I expected the geography books to be. Oh theres even a giant map hanging on the walls here, how lucky.
Or rather how unlucky. What the hell is this? Is this an island or what? What about the rest of world? Don't tell me nobody crossed that ocean and came back in the last thousands of years?
On the map theres only 6 different kingdoms on a giant piece of land, surrounded by water. that's it. The Avongale kingdom in the middle and the other 5 spread around it. I can't tell how large all of this is though, there is no measure of scale here, and I never left this city so I can't even estimate it by referencing to another city.
I should really leave this city soon. Although it doens't feel great to leave my new parents behind, I can't continue living like I'm an normal 6 year old kid. It would have to happen sooner or later anyways, no point in delaying it any further.
After skimming a couple more books I quickly made my decision. Starting tomorrow I will first make my way to the closest spot marked on the map to get a general sense of distance. Depending on how long covering that distance is going to take me, I will then plan my further actions.

Having decided so far I began preparing the last thing I needed, the map. I took a random piece of paper I found lying around and copied the map by engraving the paper with mana. I learned this technique a while back while I was experimenting wth my [Mana Manipulation].
After doing a comparison with the original map as a final check, I wrapped up and went back home to prepare for my departure. Although my parents will certainly be sad to find me missing tomorrow, they won't be shocked. They saw the signs long ago, after all I never really acted like a normal child is supposed to act. I never intended to do so in the first place. I'm completely certain that they expected me to leave on my own sooner or later.
I wrote them a note explaining the reasons for my departure. I told them everything, without a single lie. Even if it will hurt them a great extent, I still feel like they deserve to know the whole truth.
Although I was never able to see them as my real parents, I stil feel a bit sad leaving behind the home I spent the first and last 6 years of this life living in.
Finally, It was time to go. I didn't need to prepare much. Actually I didn't have to prepare anything except the map. I don't need to bring any food, I've never really needed it in the first place. Mana is almost omnipotent if used correctly.
If you boil it down, eating is simply a way of providing the body energy and nutrients. Energy is easy to replace, simply use Mana instead. Nutrients are a bit more tricky though. My cells need real matter to work with after all. Which means that I would have to craft them on my own out of mana. Luckily there is no need to to do all that myself. The [Mana Heart] skill I have is able to do that. It's much more than just pumping mana around. The skill basically allows me to live completely through mana.
Detorioration of constructs made of bound mana to free mana over time is also not a problem. Since the created mana molecules are only ever inside my body, there wont be any deterioration happening in the first place. And even if it did, it would take years for the constructs I make to start deteriorating with the current mastery I have over mana.
Having no money also isn't really a problem for me. If it comes down to it, I can simply steal. Not a single person that entered my perception range was ever even close to being able to stop me. I don't see me actually ever having to resort to something like that though. Mana is basically omnipotent after all.
