Irelia and Michelle arrived at the scene to find a group of students in combat with a large masked group.
It wasn’t rare for major conflicts like this to happen within Carrion, but heavy penalties will be placed on the people acting upon it. “We need to hurry!” someone from the masked group shouted. “Grab the brat and activate the relic!”
It didn’t take long for the penalty to activate. Every person in the masked group began to emit a red glow, symbolizing that they were no longer welcome within Carrion’s domain. Once they teleport out or die, they’re grimoires would be marked and would no longer be able to enter through a portal.
“Take them out!” Michelle tossed a marble into air, summoning her creature. “Primal Melody Serpent!”
“Did you really need to call out its name?” Irelia asked.
“Let me have this moment,” Michelle grumbled. “Tidal streams!”
The Melody Serpent let out a beautiful melody as water balls were conjured above it before they all shot towards the masked group surrounding a large relic.
“They have reinforcements!”
The masked got even more aggressive and began summoning more creatures. “Focus on grabbing one and let loose everything you’ve got!” the one that seemed to be the leader order as he summoned a lion with a flaming mane.
With that order, a lot of the students had decided to just recall out of the sector. But to their shock, they couldn’t teleport out.
“The relic they’re protecting is disrupting your connection to the portal bays!” Irelia yelled as she got closer on her unicorn.
“Noted!” A voice came from above them and found instructor Nazaria. “Those who threaten my students will perish!” Nazaria yelled as the green magic circle in her hands unleashed a powerful torrent of wind. “Now!” the bird she was riding on fired a breath of flames that mixed with the wind torrent.
Irelia grimaced as she watched the masked group get reduced to ashes. “Were we even needed?”
Michelle walked up beside her. “I forgot to consider her...”
“Is everyone okay?” another instructor approached them.
“All the students are accounted for,” an instructor spoke up from the group that had faced the masked group.
In the game, neither Instructor Nazaria nor the other instructors were even shown during the first scenario, so Michelle had forgotten to even consider their involvement during the scenario.
“Other groups were attacks too, but they have dealt with the situation and began instructing the students to recall,” Instructor Nazaria announced. “All of you return as well, this exercise is cancelled,” she ordered before flying away.
“What did we even prepare for?” Irelia asked.
“I don’t even know anymore...” Michelle just stared at the scene with a dazed look.

Alexander crossed his arms annoyance as an instructor arrived and told them to return to the portal bays. He glanced at Isabela who didn’t seem to mind that their school trip was cut short.
“I’ll continue searching for other students,” the instructor said but before he could leave, he was hit by a beam that turned him into stone.

A tail that seemed to be made of wood appeared out of nowhere and shattered the petrified instructor. Isabella gasped in shock at the scene, while Alexander looked intrigued.
The floating tail was attached to what looked like a translucent creature that slowly revealed itself. It was a bipedal creature with a slick and white body. Its upper body seemed humanoid, while the lower body resembled raptor legs without the scales. Its head was cylindrical with its facial features only being a pair of sharp eyes.
“The hell is that?” Alexander activated the observation relic to find out what was in front of them. “Hmm?” Alexander raised an eyebrow in confusion to what was revealed to him.
Havilish
Primal Void Seeker – Unique Legendary
Monarch Rank
Fairy type
Dark/earth elemental
Havilish is the only one of its kind. It feeds on the vitality of its victims, leaving them as nothing more than husk before finishing them off. This creature thrives in hiding itself, waiting for its prey to let its guard down before striking.
“A monarch-rank?” Alexander raised an eyebrow.
It was the highest rank a creature in Carrion could have, but a creatures’ rank didn’t determine its strength. It just showed how much they excelled in their field.
“Should we run?” Isabella asked as they kept their eyes on the creature.
“I suggest you return to the portal bay,” Alexander answered as he eyed the creature with interest.
“What about you?” Isabella turned to him in concern and that’s when the creature moved.
The ground shook as two creatures were summoned, one of them snaring Havilish with black tendrils.
“I can handle myself,” Alexander stated as a blizzard covered the field.
The frost ankylo’s ability activated as another creature fully revealed itself. The draconic creature stood on four legs with numerous scaled tendrils flailed wildly on its back. The black scales on its body seemed to absorb the light around it, creating a distorted effect.
“You’re an ambush type,” Alexander commented. “You should have gone for me first,” a purple aura shrouded Alexander's whole body as flames covered his sword.
Havilish struggled, doing its best to get out of its bindings. Seeing the pathetic state of a monarch-ranked creature, Alexander wondered if it’s even worth fighting.
“I’m losing interest,” Alexander grumbled as he tossed a recording crystal. “You weren’t even needed,” Alexander turned to the frost ankylo.
He looked around and noticed that Isabella was still here. Alexander gestured for her to throw a recording crystal of her own.
“Thank you,” Isabella bowed before throwing her recording crystal.
Due to the creature's rank, the recording process was taking a while. During that time, Havilish did not stop struggling and attempting to hit Alexander and Isabella with its petrifying beam.
“We found some students!”
Alexander glanced behind him as a masked group approached them with their weapons drawn. Most of them already looked injured and the red glow surrounding them told him that they were already affected by Carrion’s penalty.
*Ting*
Alexander the recording crystals shattered and felt the recorded creature enter his grimoire. Another second later, Isabella’s recording crystal finished its job.
“Let’s how well this thing does,” Alexander mentally gave his creature an order.
His Fiendish drake threw Havilish at the group. The void seeker twisted in the air and fired a beam at one of the masked thugs, turning them to stone before its tail pierced through its body.
“Attack that thing!”
Two giant crabs tried to grab Havilish, but the crabs were to slow and Havilish easily maneuvered around them to reach their summoners. Its humanoid hands grabbed two of the masked thugs by their necks and Alexander and Isabella were treated to the sight of their souls getting sucked out of their body by Havilish within seconds.
There were five more thugs remaining, but Havilish made quick work with them. It grabbed of them by the leg and dragged them around as it rushed at the one casting magic. Havilish swung the man at the other, making a loud crunching sound as their bodies collided with each other.
Isabella had the look of terror throughout the brutal display. Alexander could see her trembling, clearly not used to the sight of a slaughter. These people weren’t truly dead, but the feeling of dying today would stay with them for the rest of their lives.
That’s a feeling Alexander knew too well.
“Let’s leave,” Alexander covered Isabella’s eyes.
Both of them recalled back to the portal bay where the instructors were doing a head count of the students.
“Where have you been?!” One of the instructors ran towards them and began scolding them.
Alexander just sighed.
