EXTRA: Tiglund Lesiaer

Tiglund Lesiaer was created quite early in the process. Probably before much was put to page. Thing is, he was never supposed to be in book 1. Nor book 2, come to that.

While his name, rank, class, and background... most everything about him (other than the place he lived) remained as I'd originally imagined him, he was originally intended to be Jack's first squire. At least at the beginning.

The first change, of course, was plopping him down in Mokkelton. Not sure why I did it. I must have felt lazy at some point, and when I decided I needed a junior adventurer, I slapped in somebody who was already somewhat fleshed out rather than create a whole new one.

Then he became Cable's apprentice, and one of only two full time adventurers in the whole city. That was when I realized he was never going to become Jack's squire. A position I've yet to fill, I might add.

His being smitten by Millie was a fairly late evolution, and may or may not go anywhere while we're still centered in Mokkelton, for however long that lasts.

Unauthorized duplication: this tale has been taken without consent. Report sightings.

He may even accompany Jack on the odd quest, with or without Tiarraluna.

It's a shame, really. I had big plans for him. But he's not the sort of kid who'll leave the town with only a single adventurer to defend it, and his time will be taken up trying to bring any new gifted up to snuff once Jack's plan starts to bear fruit.

Hmm... That was really short. So, a little of his background. His father is an ungifted, but very talented hunter, who realized while Tig was fairly young that his skill with a bow was more than natural and brought him in looking for a sponsor. They were lucky enough that Cable had just gotten up on his feet and agreed to take him on.

His parents have a farm about half a day's journey east of Mokkelton, and off the road. While it's decent sized by local standards, most of their money comes from Tiglund's father's bow and tracking ability. They've got a couple of cows, and since Tiglund has become an adventurer, their field is growing, as they can now afford to ward it against predators and vermin.

Neither his mother nor father are gifted, at least as it’s traditionally understood, and he's got five younger brothers and sisters. Most of what he earns goes back to them, which is why he still doesn't have his own horse. At least, not until the end of the book. He may have bought one of the bandits' or unclaimed horses at the auction. We'll see.
