Chapter 5- Fairy Dust

Fairy Dust

The girl chuckled at that.

"What makes you laugh, Vimea." He stretched out the name saying it like Vaa-may-a.

"This." He said with a grand flurry.

"Is a house of Magyk. Of course it is thee lovlieeest place imaginable. The boy must have good taste. " The man twiddled his large mustache with his free hand.

"To business boy. " He extended out a hand. " The package."

I put down the mug and reached with the small pouch to the exhilaration I could see build up in the man's eyes. With two fingers I pulled out a slip.

"First, your stamp sir. "

"Ah, of course. "

With quick steps he walked forward took the slip and stamped it, folded it and handed it back.

I unfolded it looked over the strange snake like red print and nodded, with deft hands I reached in the pouch and took out the package.

He snatched it with a quickness.

In seconds he had the wrapping off and a small black box revealed. He looked it over for a while muttering to himself.

"Yes, yes indeed this seems to be it." The table in front of me had few belongings on it beside the coffee and with one arms he scattered them to the floor , carefully laying the box atop it.

His eyes sparkled as he slowly lifted open the edge, his grubby fingers squeezing upon the item and pulling it out carefully.

It was a bag of powder. Purple powder that glistened in the light of the room. He reached a finger within and slowly dabbed a finger , then stuck it in his mouth.

His eyes began to glow.

At some point Vimea appeared at his shoulder hanging over his arm slightly eyes sparkling with curiosity.

He held the bag to her and she took a small handful pouring it down.

Her eyes that I had thought were dazzling before, a nice almond brown slowly changed to purple a small light lingering beneath the lids.

"Do you feel that Vimea!" The professors booming voice echoed.

Vimea said nothing, her eyes on her fingers that crackled with purple.

I sniffed. Smelling a slight burn in the air. 'Was that... electricity. '

Lucien the great. Or as I was starting to think of him now, The dubious fat man, Exclaimed loudly.

"A breakthrough! She's having a breakthrough dear boy. " He looked at me eyes wide and bursting with power.

He turned his head to the man who was not dead, but looked quite like it.

"Get up James! It's a breakthrough damnit."

The man, who had sat unmoving for a while , shuffled then , his blank eyes slowly filling with life.

Like he arrived from a deep slumber, he blinked groggily and spoke slowly.

"What, Lucien. I was stumbling on a break through." The man rolled his eyes to me slowly, then assessed the scene, his eyes steadily filling with life all the while.

A grin began to take over the tired expression on his face as Lucien pushed the box toward him.

"The fairy dust is here. "
