Chapter 3- All Types

All Types

The home rumbled as the two front windows burst into pieces. With a roar of sound came a purple flame that poured into the air, it quickly gushed through the windows shattered remains.

From a comfortable distance I watched the flames shift and morph, within it's crackling belly images of fireflies and stampeding animals came running unto the air before fading away.

I paused and rubbed my eyes.

'What in the four?'

"Oi! Ya used too much! Look at my dang house." A booming voice came from inside the house.

"It's fine. It's fine. It worked that's the important part. " An enthusiastic voice came back.

" It worked? We're out of the stuff! We can't even make more! "

"Don't sweat it Professor. I put in the order. We should be getting some any second now."

"......Better be. " The voice conceded. "Now fix my windows. It won't do for the neighbors complaining again. " The voice then fell into a grumble. "I swear I'll turn that lady into a rabbit. "

"On it, professor. "

A face appeared in the window then, it's features smooth and almond, looking at the girl I felt a blush make its way to my cheeks. The girl who seemed about my age, started looking over the damaged empty square in curiosity before with a startled double take looking up at me.

A cat like smile split her face.

"You're here!" She exclaimed looking at me. Then she disappeared from the window.

"Who's here ? " A booming voice asked.

"The Messenger, professor. I'll get the door. "

"You do that. I'll get my stamp. "

As the pretty face disappeared and my blush receded my mind replayed the scenes of bursting windows and living flames, I gripped my bag a little tighter.

Whatever was happening here, it didn't change the job.

The package would be delivered.

With long strides I walked up the small steps to the door, stopping a few feet away to give the windows a cursory glance and decided to duck a little just in case. When I got to the door the thought dawned on me that if it too blew I was fucked, so I backed up again. Then I walked forward a little not wanting to be in range of the windows.

When the door opened and the pretty face popped out to meet me, I found myself in the akward position of looking around paranoid while covering my face and walking back and forth.

I stopped and looked at the girl , who said nothing for a while. Her eyes took me in, and the realization dawned on me that I looked suspiciously like a crab.

"Welp. " She said after a while. " It takes all types to make a world. " She nodded at her own words sagely.

"C'mon Stranger, come in. "

The home was colorful.

Very Colorful.

The walls of baby blue were painted on with bright vibrant colors, the floors were a magenta that called attention, and anywhere you looked there was so much.... Stuff.

As my eyes swept from a moving image of a goose walking down the road stuck in a picture frame to a lantern that projected on the ceiling runes my shoulder was tapped.

"Have a seat." The girl said steering me to the couch. A large sofa with different arrays of smiley faces painting it.

To get there I had to step over large bundles of books, and pens and papers that seemed to litter the floor in a attempt at makeshift origination.

Then I stopped.

One hand reached into my pants pocket and grabbed a thin tube of metal as I looked over at the from that just came into view.

It's eyes were opened wide, and it's head tilted back. His hands lay still and skin pale as stone.

My heart ran a little bit and my thoughts went cold as I turned toward the girl.

"Is he dead? "
