Chapter 9- Questioning and Departure

Chapter 9- Questioning and Departure

Only chapter of the day.  BTW I saw your theories, very interesting, but please note that Tsuneo has been the Maou for over a Millennia and I never stated that the Maou directly killed Emelia's parents.

Enjoy!

Castle Oblivion day 4. (Night)

Emelia’s POV

“Hellgate?” (Emelia)

“You haven’t heard of the hellgate before?” (Maria) She tilted her head in confusion.

“No, what is that?” (Emelia)

“Well the hellgate is the main connection between the demon realm and the mortal realm.” (Maria)

“Isn’t that the moral rift?” (Emelia)

“That may be what it is called on your end of the gateway.” (Maria)

“Wait, what do you mean he’s sealing it, why would he want to seal the main path that demons take to enter my realm?” (Emelia) Asked seriously.

“Well that would be because he doesn’t want the demons to enter your realm.” (Maria)

“Why doesn’t he want the demons to enter my realm after all he is the Maou, the evil that is bent on taking over the three realms!?” (Emelia)

“Don’t call him evil!  He doesn’t even want to rule this realm let alone any other!” (Maria) Screamed out.

“…” (Emelia)

Maria calmed down.

“I’m sorry for raising my voice.” (Maria) She said as her wings lowered.

Emelia also lowered her head. “No, I’m sorry for saying things without knowing anything.” (Emelia)

“It’s just… He is the one who helped me most.  He’s like a sort of brother to me.  When I was alone after my parents past away I lived on the streets.  I had no family around me and at the mere age of 8 I had no skills I could use to work.  All I could do is beg until one day he appeared.  He took me in and gave me a home.  I… I just couldn’t stand you talking bad about him.” (Maria)

Emelia paused and begun to talk again.

“According to the history of my world over a Millennia ago when the Saint was traveling the world and killing demons she sealed the moral rift in order to protect us.  This was known as the great sealing and it caused a long period of peace that lasted until just recently…” (Emelia) Her voice faded off at the last few words.

Maria remembered her talk with Emelia in the bath, but soon answered Emelia.

“As you stated the ‘moral rift’ as you call it was sealed in order to stop demons from crossing over in large numbers, but that was done by the Maou, not the Miss Sophia.” (Maria)

“…I see.  Then if he sealed it long ago then why is it weakening now.” (Emelia)

“Because even if it’s him he cannot create a permanent seal.” (Maria)

‘Another thing to ask him about later.’ (Emelia)

“Thanks for answering my questions.” (Emelia)

“You’re welcome.  It’s about time to sleep now.” (Maria) She got up and closed the curtains.

“Okay, good night Maria.” (Emelia)

Maria was walking towards the door.

“Good night Emelia.” (Maria) She said as she closed the door behind her.

Castle Oblivion day 5 (Noon)

Mixed POV

Emelia and Maou were both in the dining room eating lunch.  The two were alone in the room after Sebastian and Maria had left after bringing in there food.

The two were silent, Emelia was too nervous to say anything.

‘About time to start.’ (Maou) Finally, the Maou spoke.

“What do you wish to know?” (Maou)

“Um…” (Emelia)

‘Where do I start?’ (Emelia)

The Maou continued to wait until finally she spoke.

“How and why did you become the Maou?” (Emelia)

He paused and then began to answer.

He explained that he had been in his third year at school and the school’s dorm tournament had taken place and they had won.  At that time the Maou had attacked to attempt to take over the school for its magic hotspot.  While he had defeated the Maou it came at a cost.

Stolen from its rightful author, this tale is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

“When I dealt the finishing blow his energy begun to disperse, and the god at the time appeared to tell me that someone must take up the mantle of the Maou.  There were only two who could do so.  He told me everything that would happen as a result, but I had no choice… I had to protect her.” (Maou)

She could see the sadness deep in his eyes.  This ‘human’ emotion caused her to be less weary around him.

‘That’s…’ (Emelia)

She continued her questioning after a thought.

“Why did you seal the hellgate?” (Emelia)

The Maou begun to answer the moment the question had left her mouth.

“I sealed it so that there would be no risk of the people of the mortal realm and the demon realm going to war and to lower the amount of monsters flowing from this realm to the mortal realm.” (Maou)

“I see, then why have there been increasing numbers of monsters in my realm as well as attacks by the demonic monsters!” (Emelia)

“…What do you mean?” (Maou)

“I mean what I said.  There have been organized attacks of small towns and villages starting 10 years ago!” (Emelia)

“That shouldn’t be possible… As of now no rift in space exists that is big enough to allow a large enough force of monsters to go through for an organized attack.” (Maou)

Emelia was surprised at this answer and her anger began to subside.

‘If not him then who caused those attacks?” (Emelia)

The Maou began to ponder over the matter.

“Someone must be transporting the demons in a way that even I cannot sense.” (Maou)

He stood there silently for a few minutes.

“I need to investigate this!  Sebastian!” (Maou)

“Wait.  I still…” (Emelia)

Maria and Sebastian entered the room.

“Yes, Master.” (Sebastian)

“I am going to prepare it, I must leave to investigate some things.” (Maou)

The Maou quickly walked out the room.

“What’s going on?!” (Emelia)

“The Master is preparing a seal to allow him to leave the castle without the seal on the hellgate collapsing.” (Sebastian)

‘To investigate huh.’ (Emelia)

“We have a favor to ask you miss.” (Sebastian)

“What?” (Emelia)

“Could you please go with the master on this journey?” (Sebastian)  He said as he was bowed completely to the floor.

“Wait, what?!” (Emelia)

“Please!” (Maria) She too bowed to the floor.

“Wait stand up, why would you even want me to go?  I tried to kill him!” (Emelia)

“You’re the only one whom I have seen bring out emotions in him in over five centuries.  Please, I wish you to accompany him.  He hasn’t been himself in a long time and you brought out a glimpse of the former him.  I beg you!” (Sebastian)

She finally could not stand to see them on the ground anymore.

*Mmm* “Fine!  I’ll go just stand up already!” (Emelia)

“Thank you, miss {Emelia}.” (Sebastian) (Maria)

“It’s fine…” *Haah* (Emelia)

“Please prepare to go miss.  He will be leaving soon.” (Sebastian)

“Here is your sword.  You might need it.  After all there are good and bad Demonkin.” (Maria)

Maria handed over Emelia’s sword.

“We’ll lead the way miss, please follow us.” (Sebastian)

The three went to the highest spire in the castle.  On the way they past the throne room where a sword sat at the center.  Soon they reached their destination.  There they saw the Maou.

“Oh, why are you here?” (Maou)

“I’m… I’m coming with you!” (Emelia) She declared.

“But…fine, come along.” (Maou)

He grabbed Emelia’s hand and magic begun to flow.

“What…?” (Emelia)

“Good by Emelia! {Miss}” (Maria) (Sebastian)

The two soon disappeared.
