Chapter 2- End of the Journey

Chapter 2- End of the Journey

Emelia’s POV

She looked in triumph as she felt her blade cut through the Maou.  Finally she had completed her journey…

Is as it should have been.

Emelia had thought she had victory when she made contact with the Maou’s throat, but when she looked in front of her although he had a surprised expression, his head was leaning to the left with the sword up against the right side of his neck.  A single drop of blood rolled down his neck and down his shirt.

‘How is he still alive?’

Her eyes opened in surprise and bewilderment as she looked at him.

The Maou didn’t even acknowledge her sword and slowly he reached out towards her face.

Emelia quickly retreated from what she thought was an attack, but he was already in front of her once she retreated.

‘This is my end.’

Emelia an emotion she hadn’t felt in close to ten years, fear.

She closed her eyes awaiting the end.

Soon she felt something warm and soft go across her face moving her hair to the side.

She slowly opened her eyes and in front of her was something she never expected.

The Maou was looking at her with warm eyes and whispered something she couldn’t hear.

“Sophia…”

‘Why am I still alive?  Shouldn’t he have killed me? Why does he have that look towards me?’ (Emelia)

“Why haven’t you killed me?  Why are you looking at me like that!?” (Emelia)  She begun at a whisper and was yelling out the last word at the end.

The Maou soon came out of his daze by the end of her sentence.

“You remind me… of her…” He whispered.

“What?” (Emelia) Asked having been unable to hear him.

He slowly shook his head and begun to walk away.

“Where are you going!?  This fight is not over!” (Emelia) She called out.

He shook his head.

“It is, and you know it.” (Maou) He responded without turning around.

Soon he had left through a door to the left of the thrown chamber.  The door closed behind him with a thud.

Emelia looked on towards his back figure until he left.

‘I couldn’t beat him.’

She fell to her knees in frustration.

“Why?  I trained for 7 years in order to defeat him and I could barely leave even a scratch.” (Emelia)  She said in frustration.

‘Everything I’ve ever worked towards turned worthless in but a moment.’

She begun to pound the floor with her fists in frustration as the light surrounding her begun to fade and the floor showed no signs of wear.

‘It’s worthless, even the floor doesn’t budge at my attacks,’ (Emelia)

Her fists slowed until she finally stopped hitting the floor.  Her arms hung beside unmoving.

‘Why did I even try?  What were these years of effort for?’ (Emelia)

‘Why did I waste their sacrifice, their effort and caring, and those two’s training?’ (Emelia)

“Why am I so worthless?” (Emelia) she chastised herself.

Her eyes begun to redden and she was on the verge of tears.

“What was I even born for if I can’t even defeat him?” (Emelia)

Her tears begun to fall.

*Hic* *Hic*

“Hello” (???) A young female’s voice said.

*Hic*

Emelia looked up at the voice, continuing to cry.

Before her was a woman with short black hair and tourmaline purple eyes.  She was shorter then Emelia by at least half a head.  The young girl was wearing a blue maid outfit.

‘What a cute child’ (Emelia)

“Um… Hello, young miss.  Are you okay?” (???)  The girl asked worriedly.

“What do you want?” (Emelia) she responded sadly while wiping her tears.

“Ah, yes I was sent to attend to you for the remainder of your stay here at castle oblivion.” (???) The child responded respectfully and with a bow.

“Ah, I almost forgot.  I am Maria, a maid working under the Maou.” (Maria) She said and quickly bowed again.

Emelia finally noticed the two miniature batwings behind Maria’s headpiece.

Normally Emelia would have drawn her sword in order to protect herself from this demoness, but she no longer had the will to fight back.

“Please follow me to your room miss, it’s too cold to sleep in here and we have a bed ready for your use.” (Maria)  She said while offering Emelia her hand.

‘I don’t care what happens anymore, if this is a trap then so be it.’ (Emelia)

Emelia took the girls hand and stood up.

“This way miss.” (Maria)

Maria led her through the door to the right and after turning a few times through the halls she was led into a spacious room with a large bed to the right of the door that could fit 4 people with room to spare.  The bed was decorated beautifully with cherry blossom covers and red tapestry hanging around it over head.

The room had a dresser with a large mirror on it on the opposite side of the bed. As well as one large window covered up by a drape on the opposite side to the door.

“Allow me to help you change into something more comfortable, miss.” (Maria)

Emelia was led to the bed and without a thought Maria changed her into a two piece sleepwear.

Soon Maria had helped her to bed and Emelia had fallen asleep.
