Emelia’s POV

After eating their breakfast together Maria went off to do her work of sweeping the castle.  Emelia offered to help, but Maria refused.

As Maria begun to walk off she turned around.

“I suggest going to the gallery in the northern corridor of the 2nd floor.  It is filled with that has been collected over millennia.” (Maria) Stated with a broad smile.  “Just don’t enter the southern corridor of the castle.  That is the master’s quarters.”

After that Maria ran off with broom in hand.

Emelia decided to take Maria’s advice and begun to head towards her destination.

Emelia was wandering the halls of castle oblivion searching for her destination, but she found herself on the third floor of the castle.

‘Where is that gallery? Must everything in this castle be so hard to find.’ (Emelia)

‘Where is everybody anyway?” (Emelia)

She had not seen a soul aside from the Maou on the first day and Maria up until then.

She came across a fork in the hall one side leading to the left and the other strait.

‘Let’s go left.  I feel an arty vibe to the left.’(Emelia)

As she began to round the corner she bumped into someone.

*Thud*

As she looked up right before her eyes was the Maou.

Emelia’s eyes widened and she begun to look down avoiding eye contact.

“What are you doing here?” (Maou)

“…” (Emelia)

“Miss, are you looking for something here?” (???)

Emelia looked up nervously to see the source of the voice.

Behind the Maou an old butler came into sight.  He was taller than Emelia by a couple of inches and had grey hair done in a long pony tail and grey eyes. [Look up Rowen Ilbert]

“It’s okay miss, I won’t bite.” (Butler)

She looked towards the Maou, but he wasn’t even looking at her.

She calmed down and answered.

“I’m looking for the art gallery on the 2nd floor.” (Emelia) Answered nervously.

The butler’s eyes widened and then the Maou begun talking with him quietly.

Emelia tried to hear their conversation but only hear the Maou say.

“…Lost…” (Maou)

“I am not lost!”(Emelia)

“Of course you are not miss, but please allow me to guide you, miss, for my own comfort.  I am Sebastian by the way.” (Sebastian)

Sebastian bowed with his right hand on his chest.

“Fine.” (Emelia)

Emelia saw the Maou walk back down the way he came.

She was led back the way she came and ultimately down the stairs and to her destination.

Soon after she arrived at her destination.

“Here is the art gallery Miss.  Please enjoy this art gathered since the beginning of the history of demonkin.” (Sebastian)

Emelia entered the gallery and begun to look around.

Eventually she came across a certain painting.

Portrayed in it was a beautiful woman that looked to be in her late 20s.  She had long crimson hair and eyes.  She was wearing a white dress and was carrying a child and smiling next to a man with little detail to him.  The woman had a gorgeous smile on her face.  Even Emelia with no experience in art could tell how much loving and care was put into the painting.  But one thing caught her attention.

A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.

“That looks like…” (Emelia)

“You, miss.” (Sebastian)

Emelia turned around in surprise.  Standing before her was Sebastian who had responded.  She paused and asked.

“Why is there a picture of me here, and who painted it?” (Emelia) She asked with seriousness in her voice.

Shaking his head he answered.

“That is because it is not you.  It is a painting of someone the master knew a long time ago.  In a time before he was the Maou.  During his life as a human.” (Sebastian)

Emelia’s eyes widened.

“What do you mean?” (Emelia)

“Exactly as I said.  The Master once lived his life as a human.” (Sebastian)

“You mean he lived in the human world as a spy, right?” (Emelia)

“No, Miss, I mean that for the first 17 years of his life the master lived his life as a human.  During which time he met the Miss you see in the picture.” (Sebastian)

“What kind of terrible person must he have been to become the Maou?” (Emelia)

Sebastian began to laugh at her comment.

“Ho Ho HO. Miss, it’s quite the opposite in fact he was is the most righteous of all the Maou’s so far.” (Sebastian)

“How can that be?  You have to be evil to become the Maou after all.” (Emelia)

“That is incorrect miss.  The only requirements to become the Maou is to have the blood of the Maou flowing through you, and for the previous Maou to die.” (Sebastian)

“So he was a demonkin after all then.” (Emelia) Stated.

“Yes and no.  After all only his mother was a demonkin.  His father, however was definitely not.” (Sebastian)

“So how does that prove he was righteous?” (Emelia) Said as she her eyes narrowed.

“Ah yes that.  Have you heard of the incident at Merlin’s Academy?” (Sebastian)

“Yes, Why?” (Emelia)

“He killed his grandfather, the previous Maou, at that time in order to stop him.” (Sebastian)

Emelia’s eyes widened.

“But the Maou didn’t die back then and the hero at that time was most definitely the Saint Sophia who sealed him.  There is no mention of a Tsuneo” (Emelia)

“You are incorrect Miss, at the time the previous Maou did die by the Master’s hand, but according to the laws of the world there must be balance between light and dark. If there is a god there must be a devil.  When he took up the mantle to keep the balance all memory of him was erased from anyone he knew that was not related to the position of the Maou.” (Sebastian)

Emelia became dazed in surprise.

‘Could that picture be…’ (Emelia)

“At that time the human Tsuneo ceased to be in your world and Maou Tsuneo Satan replaced the old in everyone’s memories.” (Sebastian)

“The picture before you is that of his former love.  The Saint Sophia.” (Sebastian)
