Chapter 7: Well, It's Time to Farm Some More, but First Let's Get Some Food

It did not take long before Calvin returned. After all he had only been gone for a day to sweep away the remaining undead that had been commanded by the now deceased necromancers.

With Calvin leading the holy knights on their crusade, they manage to purge the mountain of all of its undead. That and about a couple dozen other monsters that lived on the mountain. Fortunately enough, aside from the sale of holy water and donations, the church earned a good portion of its income from selling off loot from monsters that were hunted in the wild.

It was a really booming business since the church usually supplied its own food resources by gathering meat and other foodstuffs from dead monsters, so they did not have many expenses other than charity and spreading their faith.

Calvin, Sun, and the holy knights returned to Seibain’s Church of Freya the next day. There they met with the Seibain’s head priest.

Although Sun had previously explained the situation with the necromancers the day before, it was better for the official leader of his church to be filing the report.

The main facts were discussed intensively. The massive infestation of the undead, the appearance of mountain bandits, the appearance of rogue necromancers, and most importantly, the summoning of a darkness god.

Ever since the hero Weed had led the fight against the Lich Shire, Necromancers had become a respectable profession. Other than those that use necromancy for evil purposes, Necromancers were seen proudly seen as a powerful job advance for the magician class.

The head priest listened carefully to each of the subjects. After everything had been discussed, he finally had opened his mouth to speak.

“You have made excellent progress in this mission. We had not expected something of this magnitude to have happened.”

The Church of Freya in this city would have usually been responsible for dealing with this problem, without needed to ask for help from another kingdom’s church. However, the situation in Seibain was rather delicate. Other than the military and the users, the holy knights from the Church of Freya as well as their priests were highly dedicated to the protection of the city from constant monster raids.

“We will do everything we can to deal with this situation. I have already alerted the other churches about the summoning of the darkness god.”

The head priest continued.

“However, we do not have appropriate manpower to deal with this ourselves. The High Priest had sent a message that your forces are to remain in this city and provide support until another task force can be sent.”

It seems that they would have to remain in this city for a while longer. The head priest looked over to his assistant.

“Please provide the reward and accommodations for these men.”

[ The Church Quest, Investigate the Undead Shrine, has been completed!

The cause of the massive outbreak of undead was because the rogue necromancers had been gathering darkness element to summon a darkness god. The necromancers and the undead had been successfully defeated but the darkness god lives on. The church will now make plans to deal with the darkness god.

-The Church of Freya’s influence has increased by 300.

- All participants have received 10 additional faith.

-All participants have received experience proportional to their contribution.

-All participants have received public value points proportional to their contribution.

-All participants have received 100 fame.

-Each participant may have their pick of one item from the church’s treasury. ]

A new quest appeared to take the place of the previous quest.

[ The Church Quest, Support to the city of Seinbain, has been received!

A darkness god has appeared in the Kallamore Kingdom. To deal with this threat, the church is amassing as many of its forces as it can. Assist the church in any of their requests.

Rewards: Will be rewarded on the completion of each request. Additional rewards may be provided depending on contribution at the completion of the quest.

Restrictions: Must be recognized by the Church of Freya. ]

-Level has increased.

-Level has increased.

-Level has increased.

-Level has...

Sun checked the individual rewards he had received for the quest’s completion. His faith had increased by 10, like everyone else. The experience he had gained was enough for him to level 6 times! After several months of intense fighting, along with the completion of this quest, he had finally manage to break through and reach level 300.

Level 300 was considered a breaking point for most players. Once at this level, most classes were capable of advancing to the next stage of the class; usually classes such as mages would specialize in a field of magic and warrior classes would reach their next advancement to become a higher tier fighting class.

A large majority of users were lower than level 300, usually between the levels of 100 and 200. So reaching level 300 was a considerable accomplishment.

He also received a decent amount of public value points from completing the mission, boosting him up to a total of 7 thousand points.

He was also allowed to take one item from the church’s treasury. Unlike the provided equipment that he got from the church, the items from the treasury were usually much better than ordinary items. Most of them were Rare and above.

They were led into the treasury where they got their pick of various different types of items. Most of the holy knights picked up a sword or a shield. There were a lot of these type of items since holy knights were more often distinguished than priests. Priests were scarce in number and usually occupy important positions that prevent them from completing missions such as these.

Sun took a look around the room to see if there was anything that caught his eye. For now, he decided to see what Calvin had decided to pick up.

Since Calvin was a Barrier Priest, he had opted out for a ring that increased the effectiveness of his shielding spells. That way his barrier spells would last longer and shield for more damage.

This was not that helpful to Sun, since he already had many rings that boosted the effectiveness of holy spells. Many of his items were already much better than the equipment that ordinary users would use. Most of them being of Rare quality or higher that he had acquired through church quests and hunting.

Looking through the piles of treasure, Sun noticed something peculiar that caught his eye.

It was a staff that bore the symbol of the Church of the God of Light.

Sun picked it up and inspected it more carefully.

“Identify.”

He had picked up the Identify skill a long time back when he had been around level 100. At the time he had visited various libraries in search of information about the Church of the God of Light and managed to pick up a number of different magical sub skills, of which one of them was Identify.

[ Pope Staff of the Church of the God of Light Durability 200/200 Attack: 70 ~ 90

A staff belonging to the highest ranking official of the Church of the God of Light. It had been crafted of various rare and magical materials. Though it is not certain where the Church of the God of Light is and where this staff came from, its power is undisputed. However, not many are capable of using it.

Restrictions: Must be recognized by the Church of the God of Light. Must have a holy related profession. Must be one of the highest officials of the Church of the God of Light.

-You have been recognized by the staff as the Sun Knight of the Twelves Holy Knights of the Church of the God of Light.

-You have received the title Sun Knight Captain.

Sun could not believe what he had picked up but there was no way that he could just leave it here.

Sun took the staff into his hands and looked over it. It was most certainly the symbol of the church that old geezer of a Pope always wore. However, this staff looked incredibly aged. Almost as if hundreds of years had gone by.

Then he remembered. Each of the Twelve Holy Knights had a sacred weapon. He had the Divine Sun Blade while the others had their own respective weapons, each with unique abilities.

There was no indication that the previous Popes didn’t had something similar in the past as well. There had been 38 generations of Sun Knights and roughly 20 generations of Popes. Surely one of them had a staff crafted for their personal use.

He swung it around a few times to get the feel of it. It was a very good staff. Lightweight and excellent in mana circulation. It had an excellent design as well. The only reason that it had been left in the treasury was because no one had been capable of using it.

“Sun, that’s an interesting looking staff. What is it?”

Calvin asked while looking at the peculiar design at the staff, which was unlike any other traditional staff.

There were all sorts of unique designs engraved onto the staff along with ornaments such as feathered wings and gems.

It was most certainly a very flamboyant design for whichever Pope had owned it previously.

“It’s something that apparently belonged to my Church’s Pope.”

Sun explained to Calvin the significance of the symbols and the item’s description.

“I see. So your world and our’s is truly connected after all. If only we were able to get the documents that the High Priest had translated.”

The High Priest had completed the translation of the ancient texts that Sun had discovered several months back. However since they were stuck in the Kallamore Kingdom, they would have to wait before they would be able to get ahold of them.

“So what is our next course of action?”

Sun asked Calvin, seeing as he was the leader of the group after all.

“We are to remain on standby and provide support. So mostly we are going to stay at the church and provide holy assistance. It’s possible that we may be sent on missions as well.”

Calvin told Sun that he could take a break for now since the church in the Kallamore Kingdom had a sufficient amount of priests to provide healing and blessings. The holy knights would occasionally be called on to join expeditions to hunt monsters.

***

Seeing as he had a rather rare break from work for once, he decided to go out to the marketplace and sell off all of that hard earned loot that he had acquired from hunting the past few months. Magical backpacks are indeed helpful but he couldn’t hold everything on his own. Thankfully the wagon would hold an abundant amount of loot so his share was rather significant.

Selling off the loot earned him a fair amount of coin. If this was back in his world then he would never have to worry about expenses ever again. An extravagant sum of 300 thousand gold had accrued in his savings throughout the course of his time spent in this world, since he had virtually no expenses. It was by no means a small sum.

Since he couldn’t very well leave a little girl all alone in a church with nothing to do, he decided that it might be a good idea to go and buy some stuff with her.

The first thing that came to his mind was clothing.

Alena did not have much clothing other than the set that she had been wearing when they had picked her up and the couple of pieces of clothes that they grabbed that were lying around the church. Since they were just leftover clothes, they were a few sizes too big for her. Seeing how mismatched her appearance was, he decided it was best to get her something suitable to wear.

With that in mind, they headed to the shopping district.

The shopping district was rather ordinary compared to other towns. Since Seinbain was under constant attack from monsters, they had pooled most of their resources into the necessities that adventurers needed, such as guild halls, bars, and blacksmiths. There were still a few shops left that were suited for the needs of the ordinary townspeople though.

Picking a random store, they walked in and started looking around at clothes.

Sun looked down at the little girl and actually took the time to analyze her appearance.

He didn’t really put much thought into remembering what people looked like, or what their names were, unless he needed or wanted to. In the case of friends, he would remember their appearances but give little thought to their names. He would know their actual names of course, but he would rather opt out for a strange nickname as a form of twisted endearment. For other people, he gave little care for remembering their appearances, much less their names.

Unless there had been a special need to know someone, then he would much rather not spend his time remembering someone he didn’t need to know.

Since he was going out of his way to buy clothes for this little girl, and the fact that he was most likely going to keep taking care of her, he thought that he should at least remember what she looked like.

‘Long, chestnut colored hair. Emerald green colored eyes. Average height for her age. And what’s this?’

Sun noticed something that he had not taken the time to notice before. Her ears were slightly pointed but not to the extent of an elf, however it was enough to distinguish her apart from humans.

He thought it was rather strange, but there was no reason to dwell on it. She was most likely a half-elf based on his observations.

With her appearance recorded into memory, he picked out a couple pieces of clothing for her. Seinbain was the capital of the Kallamore Kingdom, which was situated near the Central Continent. The weather in this area was rather temperate so there was no need for excessive clothing.

He let Alena pick out a couple pieces herself and then he threw in a couple skirts, blouses, and dresses in there as well.

The total price came out to be a thousand gold. Quite pricy, but they had picked out several pieces of clothing that were made out of decent materials. It would have been more expensive, but the influence of the church spreads far as does the effects of fame.

He had her change her clothing to some of the clothing that they had just purchased, seeing how her current clothing was several sizes larger than her. Now that she had changed into appropriate attire for her age, they could now get something to eat since it was nearly noon.

Food was as mysterious as always. Once again he headed into a restaurant with food that he had never seen before. Even if he didn’t know what it was, it was still very delicious. It was some sort of noodle in soup with various things such as beef slices and vegetables added into it.

Heading over to a general store, Sun stocked up on the basic supplies that he would need. It had been quite some time since the expedition had stopped in a town and he was running out of his personal stock of items.

Next he headed over the a magical reagent store to pick up some magical supplies. After that he headed to the guild area.

The guild area was the place where characters could change classes, advance their class, and learn skills for their class. Since he was a church priest, there was no need to come here since he could change classes through a higher ranked priest.

The real reason for coming here was for Alena. Seeing as she was going to keep tagging along, she needed to have a means to protect herself. Being a half-elf, she should have some affinity with bows and magic.

The first place they went to was the Archer’s Guild. Since she was a half-elf she could learn the archery skill without any prerequisites. She didn’t even need to convert classes to learn the skills related to the class; the skills were only beginner types of course.

The same result could be said for magic. She was able to learn basic magic mastery and spells without converting classes.

Their next location was the Information Guild. The Information Guild was essential for almost all players in the game. Most basic information and rumors pass through the guild, making it helpful in completing quests.

The reason for coming to the Information Guild was simple. Alena had magic and bow skills, but lacked a proper class. Having a class gave many benefits, such as higher skill growth, weapon specialization, and bonus stats.

“Which class should she get?”

Sun asked one of the members of the Information Guild. Most of the members of the Information Guild were NPCs, since users usually did not consider joining the Information Guild. Taking one look at Alena, the information counselor nodded in comprehension.

“A half-elf huh? For half-elves, the most common classes are either magic or ranged type classes.”

The counselor wrote down a list of various classes that were viable. The usual ones were there: Archer, Ranger, Hunter, Marksman, Magician, Wizard, and many others. However they were all the basic types of classes. He continued looking down the list. Finally, one of the classes caught his eye.

Magic Marksman.

It was a class that used both magic and archery. It was a difficult class to use since it required mastering both arts, which is difficult for most people.

Half-Elves.

Being a Half-Elf had its benefits. Though they were not as skill as elves in Archery or Magic, since they were half-human they were very compatible with using both simultaneously. Most people do not bother becoming a half-elf nor do they bother choosing classes that require dual-specialization. However, classes such as these become extremely powerful if they are raised properly.

Much like the obscure Shaman class. The basic Shaman class is capable of various forms of combat: Healing, Magic, Hexes, Buffs, Swords, Archery, Fist Fighting, and many others. However they are often considered weak since they need to evenly distribute their stats and their skill proficiencies are lower than the average character that specialized in one field.

However, there are rare exceptions to this. Shamans that extensively raise their skill expertise will receive several passive bonuses from their skill masteries and their skills will be much stronger than a specialized class at the same level.

The same could be said for the Magic Marksman class. It may seem weak at first, but if properly trained then they could become a highly powerful class.

Sun asked the counselor for information regarding the class. The class change was simple. The only condition was learning both archery and magic mastery skills, then speak to the Archer Trainer to change classes to Magic Marksman.

Seeing as Alena didn’t have a class that she wanted to be, he decided it was best for her to become a Magic Marksman. This way, she would be versatile and use both skills freely.

They headed over to the Archer’s Guild once more and inquired about the Magic Marksman class. Soon enough, after a brief explanation of the class, the instructor gave Alena the option to change classes.

This story has been stolen from Royal Road. If you read it on Amazon, please report it

-Would you like to change your class to the Magic Marksman?

After she accepted, she received a number of class specific skills.

“Check your status window.”

Sun told her after she had successfully converted classes. If it was the same as him, then she should also be able to check her character class.

“Status Window.”

As expected she was very low level. However, the benefits from changing class were quite considerable. The racial bonus was also very helpful increasing her stats.

However, since he did not have the concentration and insight stat, he needed her to check the description of those stats.

[ Insight: Increases the effects of magic spells and lowers the cost of spells. Points can be put into the stat, but it can also increase by fighting strong monsters.]

[ Concentration: Increases the accuracy of ranged attacks. Increases the chance of a critical strike. Increases the user’s range of vision. Points can be put into the stat, but it can also increase by accurately striking at an enemy’s weak point. ]

Much like the Faith stat, which increased the effectiveness of holy spells, these stats were specifically geared towards increasing the effectiveness of magic and ranged attacks.

Along with changing into a Magic Marksman was the class specific skills.

Most classes have skills that only they were capable of learning. Though Shamans could learn basic healing and buffing skills, priests were classes that reserved the fight to specific buffs and higher level healing spells.

Surely enough there were a few skills that were generated specifically for the Magic Marksman class.

[Passive: Ranged Mastery Level 1 0%:

Increases the effectiveness of all ranged attacks. A hybrid skill that increases the strength of magic and ranged strikes. Increases various aspects of ranged attacks such as damage, accuracy, and critical strike.]

[Active: Magic Marksman Level 1 0%

Mana consumption: 15. ]

Aside from those two skills, she also gained elemental masteries in the basic elements. Fire Mastery, Water Mastery, Wind Mastery, and Earth Mastery.

The rest of the elements were composite types that combined or altered an existing element. Such an example would be ice, which was a subclass of water magic. Lightning was a subset of wind magic.

However, unlike normal magic masteries, the masteries that she got gave her passive bonuses to her archery skills. Increasing Wind mastery would increase agility and Fire Mastery would increase damage slightly. There were various effects that seem miniscule at first, but that was because most players did not bother raising their skill masteries. This was a class that prided itself on having high skill levels.

Sun thought to himself.

‘This should be good enough.’

As he had thought, the class did not betray his expectations.

Since they had finally finished changing her class, all that she needed to do now was to level up.

Thankfully Seibain had an area for lower level players to train in.

Retardedly enough, there were low level slimes to hunt in the area.

These slimes were around level 5, which would be extremely difficult for a level 1 player to fight alone. Aside from the low level slimes, there were various other types of higher level monsters such as wolves and gnolls.

However, this was hardly a normal situation with a level 300 Holy Priest from the Church of Freya helping out.

He was not in a party with her, since if he was then he would drain away her experience. But he could still give her buffs that would dramatically increase her combat ability.

After a quick cycle through all of his buff spells, she had gotten considerable increases in all her stats.

Since she had also changed class at level 1, her stat bonuses from her class and her racial characteristics had already given her a total of 135 bonus stat points. That brought her effective level to around level 28. Her stat points were evenly distributed so she was not insanely strong in one aspect but well balanced instead.

Then with an additional increase from Sun’s various blessing spells, she had dramatically increased health, mana, stats, and defenses. The items that he had purchased for her were also low level rare types that were good for her level.

With a healer on standby with a ridiculously high mana pool, there was no way that she could die.

“In order to get stronger, you need to fight monsters.”

Sun had told her before they had left the village. She had nodded in understanding of this since she had traveled with them for a few months already. Faced with monstrous creatures like the undead giants and bandits, the slimes looked far too weak in comparison.

Nocking a magic arrow into her bow, she fired it off at the slime’s face. The element she had chosen was fire, because fire seemed like it would be effective on the slime since it was a aqueous creature.

It was very effective in fact. It seared through the slime and melted it into a puddle, which turned grey and disappeared. Since it had died in a single shot, it looked like they needed to hunt something stronger.

Killing a level 5 slime had given her a considerable amount of experience, which was enough to level once. She also got a new stat for having fought a monster that was higher level than her.

-The Fighting Spirit stat has been generated.

The fighting spirit stat was an extremely useful stat for hunting. It was often generated when fighting higher level monsters and against boss monsters. It was essential for fighting stronger monsters that had absurdly high fighting spirit stats.

Slimes proved to be far too easy. So Sun decided to let her fight some level 10 foxes. Since foxes were quite stronger than level 5 slimes, Sun decided to use a Slow debuff to decrease the fox’s agility. With his high skill expertise, the fox was dramatically slowed down.

Alena was using ranged attacks so, after a few shots, the fox wasn’t even able to come close enough to attack her before it turned grey and died.

From killing a fox she leveled up two more times, bringing her to level 4. Every time she leveled up, Sun told her to alternate increasing her stats. Every level she would put 4 points into agility and 1 point into vitality. Then the next level she would put 4 points into intellect and 1 point into strength. For the level after that, she would put 4 points into Wisdom and 1 point into concentration. This way she would have a well rounded character build.

Since agility, intellect, and wisdom were her most essential stats, it was important that she poured as many points into them as she could. However, this doesn’t mean that she should ignore putting points into other stats.

Strength was a stat that archers did not have much of, but it was still a very necessary stat for archers to have. Many bows still require a small amount of strength to use so it was important to have some strength.

Vitality was an essential stat for all classes. It was the stat that warriors and other tank classes put points into, but it was also very important for all other classes. Vitality increased maximum health better than the strength stat does and it also increases of other things that increased the user’s overall survivability. Just because someone is an archer doesn't mean that they should only pour into attack related stats. This would only mean that they would be a glass cannon, where they have high attack power but ridiculously fragile.

Concentration was an important stat to have as an archer but not as much as agility. Concentration could grow passively through character action, but it was important to spend a few points on it in order to gain the additional benefits to accuracy and critical strike.

For the next few hours they continued hunting stronger and stronger monsters. Every time she had leveled a few times off of a monster, they would move onto a stronger monster.

At the end of the day she had managed to reach level 20. This was amazing progress for a few hours of training, and she had managed to increase her concentration and insight stat by several points. Since her fighting style centered arrow using magic and bows, she had earned skill proficiency evenly between her skills. She had alternated between the various elements to train them all individually. Since she was fighting monsters that were mostly 5 to 10 levels higher than her, she had gotten amazing skill training from hunting them.

***

The next day, they headed to fight some stronger monsters. This time, they were level 35 undead that loitered around the area. They were slow moving monsters that dealt a considerable amount of damage for their level. They also had relatively high defense against most types of attacks. They were a difficult enemy to fight against but this was the reason why they were here.

If you are able to kill a monster easily then you would gain a good amount of experience but you would lose out on training your skills. Sun had chosen this monster specifically because they were hard to kill but also very slow moving so he did not need to worry about Alena getting attacked. He would still be there to help in the case of an emergency, but that would defeat the purpose of the training if he simply jumped out to help all the time.

He gave her several buffs to increase her defense and other stats. But he did not give her any damage increasing buffs or holy attribute buffs this time. This was because the purpose here was not to increase her damage to the enemies but increase her skill proficiency. Giving a holy buff would let her kill them far too quickly.

“Try using several types of magic to get an understanding of their nature.”

Sun gave her advice along the way. Since he had been proficient in magic back in his world, he generally understood that it was important to know what each element was capable of.

“Fire Arrow!”

Alena shouted as she pulled back on the bow string and a flaming magic arrow materialized. The arrow shot forth and hit the zombie, but it did not inflict much damage. Since the zombie was an undead, they did not usually feel pain unless they were intellectual or if the attack was holy.

The flaming arrow burned a bit of the zombie’s flesh and dealt a bit of damage, but nothing significant. Unless the zombie was drenched in some sort of flammable substance, then the flaming arrow had nothing to ignite.

“Freezing Shot!”

This time it was an ice arrow, a subset of water magic. The ice arrow shot forth and struck the zombie in the leg. The ice spread from the spot that it had struck and froze some of the flesh.

‘So she’s getting the hang of it.’

Ice was a powerful magic. It could be used as a blunt object to strike and deal damage. As a sharp object it could be used to slice and stab, much like Ice Knight’s popsicle...sword. However, there was another interesting aspect of ice, which was to bind, block, and freeze.

Each magic had their own quirks that made them stand out from the other elements.

After a while Alena began to run out of mana. This was to be expected since her mana pool was not very large.

“Switch to normal arrows until your mana recovers.”

Sun tossed her a quiver of arrows that he had gotten. It was not good to rely entirely on magic since it was limited by mana. Magic was useful but once all of the user’s mana has been depleted then it was useless. That was why it was important to have something to fall back onto in cases such as this.

She shot arrow after arrow into the zombie. After about half an hour of shooting at it and then repositioning so that it couldn’t attack her, it finally collapsed and died.

From hunting that zombie that was 15 levels higher than her, she had managed to level up 2 times. But the level ups were not the important thing. From constantly using spells and attacks on the zombie, she had raised her skill masteries rapidly.

They continued this several more times until she was level 30.

Although she was only level 30, all of her skill masteries were already above beginner level 7. Her passive masteries, Archery and Ranged Mastery, were already level 8 and 9 respectively.

This was because she had shot a considerable amount of normal arrows, which increased her Archery skill. However, Ranged Mastery increased much faster because it gained skill training from arrow attacks and magic attacks. So even though it was level 9, it was more than halfway until it changed to the intermediate rank.

Seeing as they had reached their goal of skill training, he decided it was time to take a break for the day. Returning to the city, he went to the church to get a status update on the city. So far, nothing had really changed since a few days ago. Monsters were still attacking the city but nothing related to the Darkness God as of yet. They were in no real need of his assistance yet since the Church had it relatively handled thanks the the help of Calvin and his holy knights.

They headed out once more to fight some more monsters. This time they were dealing with level 50 undead skeletons. Unlike the zombies, the skeletons were relatively faster and moved in groups of 4 to 5. So this time, Sun used all of his buffs on Alena so that she could deal holy damage with her attacks.

It was too ridiculous to think that she could fight against 4 to 5 skeletons at once. So naturally he did a tactic that was often used to train lower level players. Casting a quick spell in succession, he would kill all of the monsters except one, which he left for her to kill.

She would fight the skeleton with her bow and magic, and if the skeleton got too close then he would root it with his Light Binding spell. Since the Light Binding spell did not inflict damage, he would not be stealing any of her experience.

Since the Light Binding spell lasts a considerable amount of time, she was able to finish off the skeleton quickly. Each skeleton gave her massive amounts of experience. Her skill proficiency was already high so training normally would be sufficient to keep her skill masteries at an above adequate level.

“That should be good enough.”

After a week of intense hunting, she had finally gotten to a level where she could fend for herself quite successfully. Her level had reached 100, but the total combat abilities of her stats and skills far exceeded that, which was very much like Sun.

Sun was a much stronger priest than any other priests his level. He could more than easily match an average priest user that was 60 levels higher than him. This was mainly because Sun had considerably more faith and skill masteries than other users. Most users did not bother to increase their skill trainings, which made them inherently weaker than almost all NPC of the same level and class.

***

Giving a slight yawn from sleepiness, Sun decided that it was a good time to celebrate since she had reached level 100. This called for food.

Any occasion calls for food.

He felt a craving for something he hadn’t eaten in awhile. For quite some time now, he had mainly eaten European food. He wanted to eat something that came with rice. So he headed into a nearby restaurant that seemed to be serving Oriental foods.

He ordered a few things off the menu without knowing exactly what they were. However when they showed up he was able to recognize most of them.

There were just a few that he was unfamiliar with. There was rice that was wrapped with some sort of black stuff, in the shape of some sort of roll. According to the menu, this thing was called sushi. Paying no real thought to it, they ate it and moved onto the next dish.

After they had gotten their fill of food, they headed back to the church for the day.

The routine continued for awhile. Every day they would hunt for a couple of hours to raise her level and then they would return to the city where they would play around for several hours before they headed back to the church. Every now and then he would receive a request from the church to do some menial task, such as making holy water and purifying some cursed items.

After giving it some thought, Sun decided that it would be best if Alena joined the church as well.

There were many benefits to joining the church, and it would be helpful for her to get some additional training from the church quests.

So he asked Calvin about it and, after a brief moment of consideration, he saw no reason not to. They performed a ceremony to add her into the church as one of its members. She was quite young, but since it was Sun’s request she was able to join the church.

With her addition to the church, she received a notification upon joining.

-The Faith Stat has been generated.

-Holy Mastery has been generated.

-Holy Element can now be used with the Magic Marksman skill.

This was a surprising turn of events. By joining the church, her Magic Marksman class gained a new element usage.

Since Alena had learned a new skill, there was only one thing left to do.

Back to hunting undead they went. This time it was to raise the skill mastery of the Holy Mastery skill, and effectively raise the faith stat.

Hunting undead was useful in increasing the faith stat, as was completing church requests.

So now they would go to pick up undead hunting quests from the church so that she could increase her faith stat.

A month passed by and soon she had reached level 150. This was an insane speed they were going at, but that was to be expected since church quests rewarded an insanely high amount of experience.

“So where do you want to eat today?”

Sun asked her as they had returned to the city after a day of hunting down undead monsters.

After a few moments of thinking Alena said.

“I want to eat cake.”

This little girl had become much more cheery recently. It seemed that she was learning a little too much from Sun however since she was beginning to pick up his habits.

The two of them walked through the streets to a local restaurant to get a meal, and sweets too of course.

They passed by the central plaza where a large majority of users were engaged in trading.

The light from the setting sun shone onto his golden blond hair as it gave off a slight shimmer.

The crowd of users noticed this momentarily but soon resumed their business. However a young girl looked towards the two of them and then said with surprise evident in her voice.

“Wait, isn’t that….”
