The mage and the warrior made their way to the priest’s house. The priest had a beautiful and serene home in a clearing in the middle of forest. The mage and the warrior walked up to the door and knocked.
“Is anyone home?”
The mage asked as he knocked on the door of the house. The sound of hurried footsteps could be heard from within the house. Within a few moment, a young beautiful girl with long blond hair came to answer the door.
“Hello. It’s been a lot time since I’ve last saw the two of you.”
True to her occupation, she had a cheery disposition. The priest had been friends with the mage and the warrior for quite some time.
“Do you have time to talk?”
The mage asked the priest since it would be rude of him to simply bother her if she was busy.
“Of course. What’s on your mind?”
The priest didn’t really have anything better to do. Since she had already finished her plans under the new system, she didn’t have any work that needed to be done. Seeing as she didn’t have anything to do, she spent her time peacefully in the forest.
“It’s about the new system that ‘he’ has set up.”
The warrior decided to explain for the mage.
“You see, the two of us haven’t come up with any plans to generate more resources and if this keeps up then it’s going to be bad for us.”
The priest nodded her head in understanding.
“So the reason you came here is...?”
She tilted her head in confusion as to why they had decided to visit her.
“Have you managed to come up with something yet? We want to see what other people are doing so that we can come up with a plan of our own.”
The mage asked her, hoping that she could give them some advice.
“Oh, if it’s that, then yes I’ve already finished mine a long time ago. If you want, I can tell you how I decided to do mine.”
The priest began to explain but then the mage asked her if she could wait a moment. He reached for his staff, which he used to summon a piece of paper and a pen to write with. Since he was a scholar, he wanted to document his sources so that he could refer back to them anytime he wanted. Now that he was ready, the priest began her explanation.
“Once the system changed, I decided it was a good idea to...
The mage quickly took notes as the priest explained the rest.

“Halt. Which church are you from?”
The guards at the gate stopped them at the gates. The church in Somuren had considerable influence in the city and had asked the guardsmen to keep a record on the churches that have arrived thus far.
“We are the members of the church in the Citadel of Serabourg in the Kingdom of Rosenheim.”
Calvin replied to the guardsmen. After they had been processed, they entered the city and started heading to the church.
“Buying japtem. All types and quantities.”
There were various merchants on the streets buying and peddling goods. With the low tax rates, it was a haven for merchant classes. They passed by the shopping district and continued towards the church. Along the way, they received various glances from the users.
“It’s the church of Freya. They’ve been moving around in the city a lot recently.”
“Do you think that something is going on?”
“Maybe there’s going to be an event quest soon.”
Rumors were starting amongst the user base. It was very strange that the church had been starting to move on larger scale operations. Ever since the return of the treasures of the church, Helain’s Grail and Fargo’s Crown, the church had gained much more respect and influence. With their growing power, they began to become much more active throughout the continent. However, just like all things, as the light grows stronger then the dark does the same to complement it. With the growing power of the church, the forces of darkness began to crawl out of their ditches to make themselves known,
“Calvin, could you tell me the basis behind our summons?”
Sun could hear the conversations of the nearby users. It was very strange that the church would call on any other church aside from horrible tragedies such as the infestation of Lexington by the undead. If they, and the other churches in the surrounding the area, were called to make a move then it must be something of catastrophic consequence.
“I wasn’t told much...”
Calvin could only tell Sun regretfully.
“However, I do have a clue.”
“Let’s hear it.”
Sun knew that Calvin was a relatively bright person despite his appearances. If Calvin had an idea about the situation, then it wouldn’t usually be too far from the truth.
“Do you recall that undead dungeon that you destroyed a few months ago?”
“Of course.”
Sun could distinctly remember what had happened in the Corpse Tomb. That was because it was the place that he had spent an entire month crawling through and also the place where he made some of his very precious friends. During the journey, he had whispered them a few times to check on how they were doing. From the sounds of it, they had taken the longer route out of Rosenheim and would soon be leaving it’s borders.
“The recent activity of the undead have been more than suspicious as of late. The infestation of Lexington by the undead was very unusual as well as our recent encounter with the necromancers in the cave.”
“That is true. Those necromancers looked like they were up to something sinister.”
Sun thought back at the necromancers at the cave. Their presence in the area was very suspicious since the Bar Khu Mountain Range was a place that was highly populated by monsters. The Kingdom of Rosenheim and the United Kingdom of Briton also frequently sent extermination squads into the area to sweep up the dangerous monsters. For the necromancers to live in such a place would very easily endanger their lives. Since necromancers were usually human, they would not go to such a place without reason since their lives would be at stake.
‘There was also that ‘angel’ nonsense that necromancer kept going on about.’
Sun thought back to the undead subjugation back in the town of Lexington. The culprit, a necromancer, had tried to destroy the town of Lexington and had formed a stronghold within the Dawes Caverns. The church had mobilized its forces to destroy the undead threat. With the sacrifice of many paladins, the undead were completely purged from the area.
However, the necromancer had been unusually hostile towards Sun. Upon seeing Sun, the necromancer lost control of himself in a fit of rage. To his knowledge, he had never met this necromancer before in his life. There were many, many people in his world that wished to do him harm but he had not done any injustice to anyone in this world yet. At least none that he knew of...
‘There has to be some sort of connection.’
Sun was not foolish enough to believe that this many undead attacks were mere coincidences. Undead attacks were rare to begin with because there were few necromancers, since it wasn’t exactly an honorable or profitable profession. In most cases, the majority of undead in the world are created from a strong necromancer rather than many weak ones. Bar Khan was an example of such a necromancer.
Undead outbreaks, ‘angel’, necromancers, and the God of Light. There had to be some connection between all of them. However Sun could not fathom what all of it could mean.
They entered into the church, passing by the line of users that were waiting to buy a blessing and holy water. They then entered into a waiting room where they sat around and waited.
“How long is this going to take?”
Sun asked since it had been quite some time since they had arrived.
“Who knows?”
Calvin didn’t know either. That was reasonable because the High Priest, despite being the one that sent the summons, was a very busy person. That aside, there were a number of different churches here as well that looked like they had been waiting for a considerable amount of time.
“How long have you been waiting?”
Sun asked one of the holy knights that were from another church.
“Before you ask me a question, you should be introduce yourself first. It is only proper manners.”
Sun felt a tinge of annoyance. However, the holy knight had been correct. It was very rude of him to ask without first introducing himself.
“I apologize for being rude. I am Sun from the church in the Citadel of Serabourg in the Kingdom of Rosenheim. I have just arrived with the rest of my church on the summons of the High Priest. Are you and your brothers been summoned for the same reason?”
“I see that you do have some manners after all. I am Leon, from the church of Rue Truark in the Kingdom of Rodensia.”
To his knowledge, this was a small republic that bordered the United Kingdom of Briton.
“To answer your question, I arrived last week and it looks like the High Priest is going to give out commands once everyone arrives.”
Sun thanked the holy knight before thinking to himself.
‘So I have another month until then.’
Since they had spent two months traveling, that meant one month of time was still left until the churches from the farther regions arrive.
“Calvin, I’m going to look around the city for awhile.”
“Sure.”
Calvin heard the same thing as Sun and gave his approval. However before Sun began to turn around and leave, Calvin called back to him.
“Sun, before you leave take this.”
-You have received a map.
Calvin handed him a map of the Somuren Liberty City. There were a number of different markings on it to show key locations. On the map, with a picture of its symbol, was the location of the Church of Freya.
“There’s no room at the church so we have to take care of our own individual lodgings.”
Calvin told him that he needed to stay at an inn for the next month as well as take care of his own meals. Sun quickly checked his savings in his magical dimensional pouch.
If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.
‘I should have quite enough.’
After having hunted in the dungeon with his friends back in Rosenheim, he earned quite a lot of gold. They had given him a large cut of the gold since he had not taken any of the equipment and he played a pivotal role in the hunt.
Sun left the church and headed towards the town’s fountain. In almost every city, the fountain had the largest concentration of shops and consumer facilities.
The fountain area was bustling as expected, with all sorts of people forming parties to hunt and beginners filling their canteens with water. Feeling a little hungry, Sun decided to head over to a diner. He walked into the building and ordered some food. While he was waiting for his food to be prepared, he looked over to the image crystal to see what was going on in the continent.
“Hello everyone this is your host Shin Hye Min of KMC Media. Have you heard the latest news about Rosenheim, Oh Juwan?”
Sun looked at the girl that was in the image crystal.
‘Those are some strange clothes that she’s wearing.’
The guy and the girl that were in the crystal began talking to each other.
“You must mean that sculptor. Yes, I’ve heard about him. I would like to interview him if I could get the chance. What do you know about this topic? I heard that you were in Rosenheim recently.”
“That’s correct. I was in Rosenheim on personal business and was able to see the construction of the pyramid.”
The two of them began highlighting the various key points about the construction.
‘To think that something like that was going on when I was gone.’
Sun had been gone from the Citadel of Rosenheim for approximately 3 months. Two months had been spent traveling and one month had be previously spent in the dungeon. It was no wonder that he didn’t hear anything about it.
“We have a clip of the construction process that was uploaded to the internet by a user.”
The screen changed to another scene where there were a large number of people lifting giant pieces of rock towards a pyramid. The voices of several users could be heard writhing in agony from being crushed underneath the heavy rocks.
‘Who would do such an inhumane thing?’
Sun thought to himself, completely disregarding the fact that he had crushed all the bones in Awaitsun’s body while holding a princess hostage. Since he only remembered things that were useful to him, he had completely forgot about it.
Finishing up his meal, Sun paid for his meal and then left the building. Outside, he casually browsed around the stores looking at this and that. Of course he had no intention of actually buying anything and was only doing this to waste some time.
‘Now that I think about it, I still have to wait an entire month.’
Sun came back to the issue that he had nothing to do. Previously he had realized that he had this problem but then it was resolved when he went dungeon hunting with his friends. However, now he had an entire month to spend doing nothing but eating and sleeping. He needed to find something to do, otherwise he would die of boredom.
He decided to first pay for a month’s stay at an inn that was close to the church. It cost quite a bit, but it wasn’t much compared to how much he had. His total capital was currently 75 thousand gold, an outrageous sum for his level and character class. Hunting at the dungeon with Yong Li and the rest of the party had only given him a mere 1 thousand gold. The rest had come from his solo hunting and his work with the church. After pawning off all the stuff that he got from melting monsters with his skills, he had gotten himself a small fortune. For a character that was level 170, this was a horribly large sum of money. He saved a considerable amount of money because he had no need to purchase new equipment since it was supplied by the church.
With nothing better to do, Sun decided to spend his money to splurge around a little. Normally he would be against such wastefulness. This was different in this world though. If he wanted money, he could go out and kill something. Occasionally for some strange reason whenever you killed something in this world it would conveniently drop money.
With a bored yawn, Sun decided to walk around the city since nothing really caught his eye. Every now and then he would stop at a shop and buy a thing or two to eat. Other than that, he spent the majority of the month practicing his holy skills.
A few days before the deadline for the summonings, he noticed something he had not seen before. For the most part, since the rest of the church had been getting ready for a mission of some sort, the member of the church could not be seen in the town at all. This was mainly because the church members were doing various jobs in the church.
Aside from Sun, almost everyone had a duty of some sort to complete for the church. This too was mainly because of his unique existence in the game. Though he was classified as a randomly generated NPC, he retained all the freedoms and capabilities of a user.
The thing that he had noticed was another priest from the church of Freya was walking around through the town. Since he was rather bored, he decided to go talk to the priest.
“Hello, my name is Sun. I am a priest from the Church of Freya in the Citadel of Serabourg.”
With regards to religion, that was the easiest way for a priest to introduce themselves to another member of the church.
“Hello. You must be here because the High Priest had given his summons to the churches.”
The young male priest gave him a smile.
“My name is Alveron.”
“Nice to meet you Alveron.”
The two of them shook hands as they exchanged greetings.
“So Sun, what are you doing in the town?”
Alveron asked questioningly. It was very strange to see another priest in the town since they were a fairly unused class and they often stayed in the confines of the church.
“I have to wait until the end of the month for the rest of the churches to arrive before the High Priest will address us. How about you? What are you doing in town?”
Sun was wondering the same thing that Alveron had asked him. Priests were rather difficult to get so the few that they have are often kept close to the church.
“I recently assisted in a mission to reclaim a territory from the clutches of the evil vampires and rescue the villagers and our imprisoned brothers.”
Alveron answered with a short story about the expedition he had gone on.
“For the most part, the church decided to give me a short vacation until the churches assemble.”
“I see. That’s pretty amazing.”
Sun recalled from his undead encyclopedia about vampires. It was a race of undead that were basically blood sucking corpses. It was strange that they gave such a nice sounding name such as vampire.
“Want to go and get some food? My treat.”
“Sure.”
For the last few days of the deadline, the two of them went around town eating the various specialties.
Then the day of the deadline came.
“Sun, I asked a few friends to pass on the book to the High Priest.”
Calvin explained to a number of his priest friends about Sun’s situation and the book eventually found its way to High Priest. It would take time to translate the book but it should be done by the time they get back from the mission.
Then the High Priest came to the stand to address the various churches that have been gathered. He gradually began to give off missions to the various churches that had been gathered. Almost all of them were undead subjugation quests, giving testament to Calvin’s guess at the growing activity of undead. The mission was to exterminate and investigate the undead activity.
“Member of the church from the Citadel of Serabourg, your dispatchment will be in the city of Koress.”
Their group had received the dispatchment orders and were now being sent on their way. However, the High Priest was not yet finished.
“The concentration of undead is much higher in that area and there are hoards of powerful undead in that area. For this reason, I will send another member of the church to accompany you.”
From behind the High Priest, a young priest appeared. This young priest was the priest he had met up with the last few days.
“This is the Pope Candidate Alveron. He will accompany you on this mission. Be sure to protect him at all costs.”
With all the preparations completed, they had to set forth immediately.
“I didn’t know that you were the Pope Candidate. I guess I have been a little disrespectful then.”
“No, its fine. You’re older than me so I should be the one showing proper respect.”
Their friendship remained unchanged despite their occupations. Truthfully it didn’t matter since Sun was technically originally in a position of power that rivaled a Pope.

-One week later.
A large number of men appeared in front of the church in the Citadel of Serabourg. They were heavily armored since they were soldiers and they were bearing the insignia of the Kingdom of Rosenheim. Leading these men was a single man in shoddy looking clothing.
The High Priest welcomed the young man.
“Are you ready to depart?”
“Yea.”
The High Priest had teleported to the Citadel of Serabourg and brought with him 50 priests to assist the young man. There were beautiful female priestesses as well as male priests. Because of the large dispatchment of units a week earlier, there were not many units available to lend to their hero. They readied the portal and sent the young man, the soldiers, and the priests through. The High Priest looked up to the sky a little weary.
“Hero Weed...hopefully the situation is not as bad as I have feared.”
