Slowly Isaura began to open her eyes. She struggled to get up because her body felt almost crushed. The first thing she saw was iron bars. With Darius beside her, and a wolf with a missing tail.
She forced herself to sit up and then stared at the wolf carefully. "Xander?" Isaura knew for sure that the wolf must be Xander. They had fought before this incident, and she was confident in her memory. "If he's still alive, then whose ashes were sent to the Celestial palace?"
Isaura sat down hugging her own knees. Her last memory showed that Vegas had been captured by Alonzo. Now what else could she do? "We need to find out the truth about Xander now. But we haven't even found a way home."
She glanced sideways where Darius lay weakly. The only person who gave her encouragement was now powerless. Isaura truly felt alone now.
High above in the sky, precisely in the Fairy Palace, a prince with a sword in his hand was seen hurrying to the King's throne room. Upon arrival, he immediately bowed. "Respect to the Fairy King," he said politely.
Valdor, the Fairy King who seemed to be examining some documents, looked down at his son. "Respect accepted. What is it, Christoph?"
The dark black eyes of Prince Christoph met his father's gaze. "Father, Arthur's condition is worsening. I don't know why, but suddenly his body seems to be convulsing."
Listening to his son's explanation, Valdor stood up. He stepped down from his throne and stood right in front of Christoph. "How could his condition worsen?"
Honestly, Christoph didn't know either. When he was practicing swordsmanship in the backyard of the palace, suddenly the healer called him to see the condition of their war commander, Arthur. "I don't know. But we must see his condition immediately."
Valdor nodded, then he walked ahead with Christoph behind him. They walked towards the infirmary where Arthur had been treated.
Seeing the arrival of the King, the healer named Seza bowed to show respect. After Valdor accepted his respect, Seza straightened his posture.
He saw Arthur's body still lying as usual. He almost showed no signs of life at all. His face was pale, as if there was no blood flow. Valdor then looked at Seza. "Healer, what happened?"
"I don't know, Your Majesty. But what I can predict is that the commander is experiencing increased pain throughout his body," replied Seza.
Valdor's forehead formed a frown right away. "Increased pain?"
"What kind of case is that?" Christoph, who heard Seza's explanation, was also curious. Although the fairy world is a magical world, this case still sounded unfamiliar to them.
Seeing the King and his Prince looking puzzled, Seza bowed his head. He didn't know how to explain it. "I'm sorry, Prince. But I've never encountered a case like this either. The commander seems to feel the pain experienced by another body."
"Could it be that Arthur's soul has left his body and embarked on a spiritual journey, so his body feels the pain?" Valdor asked. He was just guessing, as he didn't understand much about someone's medical condition.
But Valdor's opinion was refuted by Seza's shake of the head. "No, Your Majesty. The commander's spirit is indeed not in his body, but he's locked somewhere. It's impossible for him to embark on a spiritual journey."
The next moment Valdor's gaze was directed at the rigid body. His condition had been like this for years. Actually, he also felt sorry, Arthur was not an ordinary commander. His fate had been neatly arranged in the records of the Gods.
Valdor just hoped that miracles would come, and everything would go according to the prophecies.
Let's go back to Eliot and Evelyn who had just entered the Demonhold Palace. Alonzo had just returned after securing Vegas when he saw a demon figure and two fairies behind him.
Evelyn and Eliot, seeing that, swallowed hard with difficulty. Alonzo wasn't as terrifying as that. Even for demon standards, he was-- handsome?
Stolen story; please report.
"What's going on?" Alonzo asked with an indifferent expression. He folded his hands behind his back.
The demon carrying Eliot and Evelyn bowed respectfully. "My King, they wish to meet with you." After saying that, he left after seeing Alonzo's gesture.
That right was confirmed by Eliot, who smiled thinly and then bowed slightly to show respect. Followed by Evelyn who did it reluctantly.
"That's right, Your Majesty. There's something we'd like to ask you," explained Eliot. He tried to speak as politely as possible to not offend Alonzo and cause further problems.
"Speak quickly, I don't have much time," Alonzo cut in quickly. He didn't even look at the two fairies.
Eliot glanced at Evelyn briefly before continuing. "We lost two of our friends from Elvendria. When we followed them to the Darkvale Abyss, we ended up here instead. I thought-- our friends might also be in the same place. We didn't come here intentionally to disturb you. We simply came to look for them. We have no intention of causing trouble."
This time Alonzo's fierce gaze was directed at them. "How do I know you're not infiltrators?"
One of Eliot's eyebrows lifted. "What do you mean?"
Alonzo took a deep breath and then walked around them. "Throughout history, demons and fairies have never found peace. You could be spies sent by Valdor to come here, couldn't you?"
"But we are currently under a ceasefire. Even a thousand years have passed since the last war happened. Even if there is a conspiracy, it certainly isn't from our kind," Evelyn quickly replied, glaring at Alonzo. When it came to her kind, she was always defensive. Oh, Evelyn regretted saying Alonzo was handsome.
Seeing that, Eliot quickly signaled with his eyes to Evelyn to not say anything inappropriate.
Alonzo stopped right in front of Evelyn. "Well, well. So this is the etiquette taught by Valdor to your kind? Listen to me, young lady, this is not a proper way to visit."
"But we are not visiting. We are just looking for our two missing friends, please don't complicate things and let us go," Evelyn challenged. She was furious with Eliot, who couldn't even speak firmly.
"Then letting you spread information to the fairy kind? I still don't know what your plan is, but I still don't know your purpose for coming here."
Evelyn's patience seemed to be wearing thin. She stepped forward and pointed at Alonzo's face. "Listen, honorable Demon King. I've already stated our purpose for coming here. Can you speed things up and just let us get what we're looking for?"
"No," Alonzo quickly replied without hesitation. "I can't just let you leave Demonhold Palace easily. Until I know that you're not spies, I will detain you."
"You dare!" Evelyn shouted furiously. She attacked Alonzo but the man managed to evade her strike.
As Evelyn was about to hit Alonzo, the girl's hand was instead caught and twisted forcefully by Alonzo, causing her to groan in pain. Not staying still, Evelyn used her legs to try to bring Alonzo down. But the man jumped and threw Evelyn's body instead.
Fortunately, Eliot managed to catch the fairy's body. He then approached Alonzo. "I know you're the Demon King. But you don't have to behave like this. If you truly don't know, you could just say it, and we'll leave. We only need your permission to search for them."
"As I said earlier, I still don't know whether you're spies or not. Until you're cleared of my suspicions, I'll consider you my prisoners."
Out of frustration, Eliot kicked Alonzo in the stomach. This time the man couldn't dodge. They were engaged in a one-sided fight. Eliot spat blood when Alonzo repeatedly attacked his stomach.
The man fell, causing Evelyn to quickly approach him. "Eliot!"
"Soldiers! Capture them and throw them into the dungeon!" Alonzo ordered angrily. Shortly after that, two soldiers who had been silent like statues since earlier forcibly took them away.
