Chapter 13: New Enemy

Chapter 13: New Enemy

The sleazy man let out a pained cry and glared hatefully at Eon. He drew his sword and swung at the little bastard and the annoying woman with a snarl.

Eon finally glanced up at the man, a light frown on his face. Eon's hand blurred and grabbed the hilt of the sword, stopping the blade inches from his face. He nonchalantly slammed the man's elbow with his other palm. This bent the man's elbow grotesquely, moving it 90 degrees in the wrong direction.

The man fell on his ass and started crying from the pain. Eon stood up and broke the other arm in the same way as the first before brutally stomping both kneecaps with the soles of the new leather shoes he had received on his first day as a servant.

By Eon's estimate, Without advanced treatment, the man probably would take years to walk again, but he considered this a fair punishment for trying to kill him and Hela. Eon also felt that he was also venting his anger, but felt that it was fairly justified in this case.

Eon couldn't find any external wounds or blood as he checked Hela, but she was out cold. Eon left the man, who had passed out and even pissed his pants from the pain, on the floor of the canteen without a second glance. Eon was carrying Hela and was running as gently as possible to Zerle's home, Eon was hoping Zerle would help as he didn’t know anyone else as of yet.

A few days later, things seemed to go back to normal. Zerle helped out Hela and she was back on her feet the following day. A servant had found the sleazy man on the floor and had taken him to a medical unit that had been set up to treat the injuries of the servants if they had gotten hurt during a task.

A tall, slim, elegant man with blond hair, golden eyes, and deer-like antlers looked down on the still-unconscious sleazy man with a look of scorn and aggravation. After a moment of thought, the blond man squeezed the broken knee of the sleazy man. The sleazy man woke up with a scream that was cut short by the rough palm of the blond man grasping his chin.

"What the hell happened? How did you fuck up this badly? Who did this? It was a simple extortion job, if anyone offered resistance, just wave the sword I gave you in their face and threaten them. Simple as can be. Well? Speak carefully, rumor has already spread of this embarrassment, and you can just as well be made an example of."

The blond gangster finally let go of the sleazy man's mouth.

"I'm sorry Lein! But there was this guy, he was crazy! When I asked him to hand over the money, he just stood up and attacked me without warning!"

Upon hearing this, Lein frowned, feeling a headache coming on. Usually, there were no hero types on this type of job, as they feared his reputation. This had only increased since he had reached the first stage of body tempering.

"Fine. Where is he? Those who go against me must be made an example of."

The sleazy man looked confused.

"But boss, I can't walk, how am I supposed to lead you there?"

Lein laughed and snapped his fingers. A shadow-like third man who had been quietly watching in the corner grabbed the sleazy man and placed him into a wheelbarrow they had brought along that was just out of view.

The trio “walked” out of the hospital, and the sleazy man directed them to Eon's housing unit. Eon was currently eating breakfast with Hela again. Over the past 3 days, Eon's learning speed was quite exceptional, and he was even beginning to display basic fluency in the local language. The sleazy man pointed his broken arm at Eon as the 3 men entered the canteen and yelled,

"It's him! He's the one who did it!".

When they saw the elegant blond standing indifferently behind the injured man, many of the servants paled. They all ran out of the room, including Hela. The only person who stayed was Eon, as he ate breakfast that looked and tasted like oatmeal. Eon quickly sucked down the last of the oatmeal and stood up. Lien walked up to Eon casually and asked,

Do you think you can avoid paying your protection fee to the Sandy Buck Gang? Then you can pay with your life."

And with that casual threat, Lein thrust his palm at Eon.

Eon immediately felt the pressure emanating from this gangster, it was unlike anything he had felt before. Eon had fought against beasts far stronger, faster, and more skilled than himself countless times in the tutorial, but this felt different.

Alongside the normal feeling of imminent danger that comes from fighting a strong opponent, Eon felt a majestic air emanating from the man, as if he stood on the ramparts of a grand fortress above it all. The masters of the sect all had this aura, though it was only noticeable when they used their strength. This man is a cultivator.

For the first time since he came to this world, Eon had felt the need to bring out everything he had, his lean yet powerful muscles taut and ready to spring into action, his mind raging, Eon fought best by making himself angry, as he had learned to channel it.

Eon dodged back from the palm with only a little clearance, before striking out with his fist into the man's solar plexus. The man staggered back a little and coughed lightly, but that was all.

Normally, a hit like this would disable a person, but Eon was already happy with this much, which allowed him to retain the initiative. Eon laid into Lein's weak points, clapping the ears to hurt his balance and coordination, repeatedly slamming his nose until it broke, filling his sinuses with blood to slow his reaction, and striking the throat to prevent him from catching his breath.

Lein was pushed back by the ferocity of the strikes, but his body was quite tough, enough that the pounding did little more than superficial damage. His weak points had already received some tempering, so he managed to move forward and tackle Eon through the canteen wall, where they started scuffling on the floor.

If it wasn't for the speed and power of the men, this would probably look like a simple bar fight after some hot-blooded young men had too much to drink, but every move the men made used their reaction speed and martial skill. After the tackle, Eon lost the advantage he held and was stuck on the defensive.

Lein was faster and stronger than him, and he seemed to have pretty good control, his fighting style was quite elegant and quick, in contrast to Eon’s savage blows. The only reason Eon had been able to inflict damage before was that Lein hadn't been on guard against Eon, but the fact that Eon was able to divert, dodge, and occasionally block his strikes was still infuriating to Lein, whose mood was already poor.

If before Lein wanted to kill Eon to make an example out of him, now he wanted to kill Eon for harming himself, it had become personal. Lein’s strikes became harder and harder to neutralize as he recovered from his disoriented state, and Eon had to move in many normally humanly impossible ways using bodily revelation to avoid taking severe or even fatal damage. Still, every time Lein made contact with Eon's skin, a wicked bruise was left behind, alongside the occasional small fracture.

Eon, in his angry yet rational mind, thought that if this continued, he would certainly die. So he decided to take a risk. He moved forward into one of Lein's palm strikes while blocking with his left arm, breaking his sternum and embedding his broken ribs into his lungs, and breaking the arm clean through, one could see the bone sticking out through the bleeding skin.

Lein wasn't expecting Eonto just take the blow, so his reaction was slightly slowed. Eon grasped out, digging his filthy fingers into Lein's eye socket, ripping out the eyeball. This was Eon’s gambit to disable his opponent. Eon collapsed to the ground, his lungs were collapsing from the embedded ribs and he couldn't get enough oxygen to his brain to maintain consciousness.

Lein looked at his eyeball rolling around on the ground, a hair-raising look in his remaining eye. Straightening his back and raising his leg. He stomped down to crush Eon's throat. Before the foot could land, a large wind pushed Lein several steps away from Eon. Another agitated voice rang out

"What the hell do you think you are doing?"
