Hey folks.
So you haven't heard from me in a while. That sucks, I know. All I can say is, I'm sorry. I got really sick (not COVID) and was sort of stuck in a rut from a writing perspective. But I'm hoping I'm beyond that now, at least mostly.
As such, I want to do something to keep everyone in the loop. I am initiating what I hope will be a consistent update. I am calling it WORDCOUNT WEDNESDAYS. Just to be clear, I have shamelessly stolen this name from one of my favorite authors of all time, John Conroe, author of the bestselling Demon Accords series, among others. I LOVE his books.
Anyway, as I said, I am shamelessly stealing his brilliant alliteration to try to provide you with a weekly or bi-weekly update on my progress. It will include updates on any active project I am allowed to share. Despite the name, sometimes there will be an update that isn't about word counts but that should be rare. And on occasion I'll have a new secret IP I'm working on that hasn't been copyrighted yet, so I won't post on that until it's protected.
I really want to try to keep this up for you all and I hope it will help with filling in the gaps in knowledge about what's up with my books. I will be posting this on the Invasion and JP RR pages as well as a link to the JP one on Portal Books' Discord Server (https://discord.gg/tFtVhgHZ). So, without further ado, here is my very first WordCount Wednesday:
----------------------------------------
Invasion 3: This is my primary project. Everything is considered behind this in priority. I just started chapter 28 and it is currently at ~50K words. For those wondering about the prior content that was here on RR, this update includes substantial rewrites to that content as well as new content.
Help support creative writers by finding and reading their stories on the original site.
Jade Phoenix 3: As I said above, this is a secondary project at the moment. It is currently at ~4,300 words.
Audiobook for Jade Phoenix 2: Emily is almost done recording it which means it should be out between two and four weeks from this update. I will keep everyone posted.
Soul Warrior 1: This project will stay on hiatus for quite a while and I'll not post on this again unless there is a substantial change in the geopolitical environment in Eastern Europe that allows me to prioritize it. It just won't sell with such a massive cognitive dissonance as exists currently.
Other projects: As I said, unless something is copyrighted, I can't post on it with specifics, but I can tell you that I have two other exciting projects. One is an as-of-yet unnamed dungeon diving series at about 8,700 words that is way on the backburner. The other is a Portal Books published regression apocalypse series called Demon Wars that involves demons and angels and humanity stuck in between at about 20K words. This project is huge and probably going to be what I work on after JP 3 is finished.
----------------------------------------
And that's it. That is your first WordCount Wednesday. I really hope I can keep up with this at least every other week – or maybe even every week if I can muster up the energy.
So there you go. As always, I cannot thank you enough for both reading what I write and being interested enough to want updates.
Thanks and have a great one!
