Book 3: Chapter 51

Shaun broke out of his crafting trance after what felt like a quick few weeks, but it may have been longer. He had managed to finish off everything he wanted to craft and even spent a good amount of time just working over and over again on boosting his final skills up.

He had spent a good amount of time in his domain, coming up with as many different plans as he could, not planning on using any of them as he didn’t have the excess amount of materials and had no real use for what he had created inside of the skill, but he had managed to push the skill to its max level.

He had done the same with his elemental storage, pulling out elemental power form anything and everything he had left and then pushing it all back into the items he had. He had even spent a good amount of time with the Life Natural treasure, taking out all of the power it held and storing it. He had no plans to use this in crafting but instead hoped to use all of the excess power to bond the affinity in the future.

Through all of his crafting, totalling two swords, a spear, a shield, arrows a wand and two sets of leather armour, all of which were at epic grade, he had gotten the final levels in his profession that he needed to reach level 124.

**Profession: Elemental Creator has levelled up by 12 levels. [Advanced] Elemental Creator has reached Level 124. +60 Int, +36 Wil, +24 Per, +60 Soul **

**Race: Hybrid Nephilim/Human has levelled up by +6 levels. Hybrid Nephilim/Human (E) has reached Level 124. +96 Ap gained**

**Proffesion upgrade available on [Advanced] Elemental Creator. Would you like to upgrade Profession? Note all experience is forfeit until Profession is upgraded.**

Looking over his status sheet he had managed to do what he had set out to do on both his class and profession before he left Earth. Not only that but he had also pushed several skills into a higher grade than his actual class and profession which he hoped would lead to even better upgrades when he finally consented to moving up to the D grade.

There were very few things left to do now. He had decided to wait to push into D grade until he left Earth, wanting to see if and get advise from the Fae and Dragons before doing it. He still had the elemental cube to practice his affinity with that he was given by Queen Elivasia but he was hesitant to use it at this point, especially as he had already done a lot of training with his elements with Azreal and he still felt there was work to do with fully containing and practicing with his death affinity, something he wasn’t comfortable doing on Earth, outside of in a dungeon, especially after what happened the last time he played around with the death element when making his sword.

He had previously considered going to the library and seeing if he could gleam anything from the books on skills but when he thought about where he was going, a faction that had been around since the beginning, he was pretty confident that they would have a library that dwarfed his own and would already be completely organised.

That left him with running the dungeon on max. It was now the only thing left to do before he started saying his goodbyes. After that it would be time to leave. He had now officially outgrown Earth as it was and he knew that spending further time here would not benefit him or the school. The school was running without him now anyway and anything further he could contribute wouldn’t necessarily help anyone, they now needed to find their own way forward.

Rather than delay in his rooms he moved through the school, it seemed like it was the middle of the night as the halls were completely empty and he didn’t see a single soul on his walk to the dungeons. When he did reach them he was able to walk straight up to the dungeon he wanted and enter. He would have thought that there would be a guard stationed at the dungeons so that students couldn’t sneak out of bed and do dungeon runs, but it seemed that wasn’t the case.

Once he appeared in the dungeon it was exactly the same as the previous two times he had been in it which was good, it meant that he would have no issues making his way through it and getting to the Wyrm. Considering how easily he was able to do the dungeon on peak difficulty he didn’t expect to be held back much doing it on max. With both swords in hand and taking to his Nephilim form, he shot into the sky, ready to claim his prizes.

Jason paced in his house, both of his siblings were with him, although both of them were slumped over in separate chairs looking like someone had kicked their puppy. They had all just been verbally ripped apart by Octavius, they had failed the event, failed to win the war and now, due to their agreement he had lost out on his chance at becoming world leader.

The only good thing about the conversation was that Octavius had confirmed everything that Shaun had said to him, not just about a true war, which he already had a clue about, but about Earth being a Nexus planet.

Octavius had been pissed when he brought up Nexus planets and asked what they were, but he had explained it to them while pushing the blame of losing this first battle onto them. He had bene warned about going up against Shaun, but even Octavius was shocked to hear the feats that had been achieved by one man, no matter how strong.

They now had their orders changed, instead of building an army, which was currently fractured due to so many seeing their utter defeat as a sign that they had backed the wrong side, they were now informed to just get stronger by the time the year was up. When it was they would be taken from the planet and they would join the true war to come.

This didn’t sit well with him, he wanted Shaun dead for what he did. If it wasn’t for him they would have won everything. Now they were being told to just give up on their goals and just focus on growing and wait.

He hated that. Here on Earth they were near the peak of strength, no one but Shaun was higher than them, but on the outside they would go from being elites to just fodder in an army against The Empire.

“So that’s it? We give up?”

“No, we can’t just give up! I say we hunt Shaun down and kill him!” Percy shouted back at Persephone, who just scoffed at him.

“He killed us easily, he could have killed Jason easily. There is no way we would win that fight. He is holed up in his settlement anyway! You have heard just as much as I have, we couldn’t breach that place even if we had every single person on the world working with us. Give it up Percy. We lost.”

“Stop it, both of you! We do as we have been asked. We get stronger. That is the only way we will continue to matter in this world. If we don’t get stronger quickly we will end up as nobodies! If we have any chance of winning a fight against Shaun in the future we have to get stronger than he is. We have less than 6 months left, we hit D grade before then, we have a chance to actually matter outside of this planet. Get your shit together, we start now.”

There was things he didn’t tell them, or Octavius. He felt it when he attacked Shaun, he used every bit of power, every ounce of his affinity in his attack against him and he sucked it all up like a sponge. He didn’t know how, but that worried him. Shaun was able to just absorb his affinity up and put it somewhere that he couldn’t find.

He wondered if that was how the guy got stronger, if he was capable of so much more than anyone even realised, some kind of leech that could take the power of others and make it his own. It would explain just how strong he was and it would also explain what he felt.

The thing that worried him was if he had that kind of power, how would they ever win in a fight. So much of their strength came from their affinities, which was tied to the heritage they all had when the system came. A family trait that had bene passed down for generations, each Charlo was given a gift at birth, or so the stories went, but only when the time came would they manifest themselves to provide the strength to rule, to conquer.

Even with that heritage though, Shaun was still more capable than all of them put together. They knew he had multiple affinity, but what if, like them, it was tied to a heritage? He had too many questions and until he had answers he wouldn’t bring it up. But if he was right there was a way to beat Shaun, they just had to find it first.
