Shaun knew the moment he woke up in his body again, he was lying on the ground, wings out in his Nephilim form surrounded by people. They were moving around him but very few were actually that close to him. He found that the people who were close were those he knew, Eric, Gabe and Yarila as well as Eli.
They didn’t know he was awake yet, but they would soon enough. Wanting to cover up his form he slowly activated his metamorphosis skill with lightning and grew his tail and horns. It would hopefully be just enough for him to be able to pass off everything as him passing out with the skill on rather than him actually no longer being fully human.
“Hey guys, something his happening with Shaun.” Eli was the one paying the most attention and it took only moments for him to see the changes he had made with his skill.
Opening his eyes he used his wings to not only push himself off the ground but also into the air, high enough that everyone would be able to see him in this lightning form and take note of his changes. When he was high enough he looked around and saw that they were in the same place as where they had been when they attacks the compound. Looking at the epicentre of where he had attacked, as he had expected nothing was left. Not only that but everywhere around where they were based was blackened by his attack.
In full view for everyone to see he deactivated his skills and shifted back to being fully human. He waited for a few moments for everyone to see and then drifted back to the ground, right in the same place he had been laying on the ground.
When he was back on the ground no one spoke for a while, they just stared at him for a bit. Mostly they looked relieved that he was awake but there was also fear there too.
“How long was I out?” He knew it should have been a day but he wanted that confirmed. “What has happened since the attack?”
“It’s only been a day. You have not responded to anything we did when trying to wake you. Everyone else woke much sooner. Mana drain was the cause but no one died in the fight. We have been here resting since the attack. A message was sent out, we won the event but it shall continue.” Yarila was the only one to speak and clearly answered his questions.
At the mention of winning the event and it continuing he pulled up his notifications seeing exactly what she had spoken about. It seemed that even though they won the event had decided to continue so that people could earn points. He assumed he got this message after passing out and going to Azreal which is why he couldn’t see it before.
“How many people on our side decided to leave after we won? Any retaliation for The Pantheon?” He asked in a daze mostly. He couldn’t really believe that they had won the event just like that. It made some sense, considering there was no compound left, but still, he had expected to have to do something more to win.
“Very few left, Vivenne rallied our armies and decided to throw everything we have at The Pantheon. For many, the fact we won meant they no longer cared if they died in the event, they are going out with a bang.” Eric joined in the conversation now, although he was more hesitant than Yarila. “Many people are cheering your name. Those that joined you in that attack got over you pulling out all their mana quickly, especially after seeing what you did to the compound and winning the war. There has been people come forward though saying they feel changed from the experience, as yet though they can’t put their finger on how. Those that didn’t join, are not happy, although that is mostly due to them now being looked down on by everyone else.”
“The humans may have mixed feelings but my people were more than happy with everything you did. They would have happily died to help you, the fact they didn’t and that you managed to do what you did. They view you as a future god.”
Hearing Yarila and Eric lay out the overall feelings of the group was good, it helped him understand the general atmosphere he would need to deal with. The fact that some people felt changed was not so good.
“It would be good if you explained exactly what happened. Especially when you yelled out that you were a god. It has caused people to start to question, well you.” Eirc went right into wanting answers and he couldn’t blame him.

“Too much mana, it causes an effect that makes you feel god like, although really your just high on mana. When it happened the first time I lost control and changed a skill. I fucked up there, I know I did. I shouldn’t have used everyone mana for selfish gain. I can’t change that now though. You saw what the effect of the skill can do to how I look.” He dropped the information he wanted to and now set up the explanation as to why he looked different.
“The wings, the tail, the ears, the teeth, not to mention the horns. It was soooo cool! Can you change into anything else?” Eli cut straight to his changed form and clearly found the entire thing to be a good thing.
“Can only use it with my elements, so not really. Just the standard air, fire and lightning. Its weird though, changing shape like that. Thankfully it’s a skill I can turn on and off.”
“Any other changes we should know about? You seem, different? More powerful I guess. I don’t know, but something changed.” Eric went back to questioning, wanting to fully understand what happened.
“Not really. Although having that much mana flow through me was bound to leave its mark.” It was a fair explanation, he did just push millions of mana through his body. “So even though we won we are still fighting. How long until everyone is ready to move out? I figure we attack from this side and clear out everything between us and the bulk of the enemy. By the time we make it back to our side I am guessing we will be the only ones left. Unless you know something I don’t?”
“That is accurate. At the rate our side is dying I would give it a week or two before they have claimed everything on our side and wiped everyone out. There was talk of everyone retreating to our compound to launch a final attack but that would jus delay the inevitable. Everyone wanted to go out with as many points as they could. You do need to talk to Viv though before we do anything else. She wanted to speak to you the moment you woke up.”
He knew he would need to talk with Viv, he had hoped it wouldn’t be so soon but at least it would be a pleasant conversation.
Shaun Clermont: I am awake. Heard we won the event. Looks like you will be the world leader after all.
He didn’t need to wait long before he got a reply back. As he had expected it was a mix between questioning him and thanking him.
Vivenne Grace: There is much to celebrate and a lot I need to thank you for. Once the event is over we shall hold a celebration at the settlement to truly relish the victory. There are questions though. Reports say you have wings and no longer look human? You will also need to explain exactly what you did to connect and drain people of their mana. For what I have been told the Elves are beyond happy with what you did, our own people are having mixed reactions. Is there anything I need to know?
He ended up needing to repeat the same excuse he gave the others around his change of appearance which he also ensured was temporary and he got stuck between forms when he passed out. She was curious around the skill but he didn’t really go into much more detail. When he finished talking to Viv he then had to make the same explanation to the entire group he was with.
He wanted to make sure that everyone had an explanation as to his transformation and that he could nip any weird rumours in the butt before they began. To really push his point forward he transformed for everyone, showing them his human form, what they saw when he was unconscious with some amendments and then the full transformation.
Overall he thought he did a good job of convincing everyone. When it came time to fight next he would also make sure that everyone saw his changed form just in case anything made its way back to The Pantheon.
It didn’t take too long after that for everyone to start packing up and getting into order for them to move out. They planned on making their way back to their own side, but this time there would be avoiding fights, everyone wanted more points and killing was the best way to do it.
It was clear that those who sat out the attack were sectioned off from everyone else, he heard that another reason for this was that the people who had joined him in the attack also gained more points than they though possible. They gained points for not only killing the enemy army but also for killing some key individuals, mainly the two Charlo siblings. On top of that everyone got a ridiculous amount of bonus points in the aid of destroying the compound.
It was a group effort and he was happy that they received points for that as well. Without them he never would have been able to do what he did and the chances were that they would have lost the event. Now though, everyone was more than happy to get their weapons ready and start really entering into some fights against their enemy.
He considered going it alone, but a nagging feeling made him stay with everyone. The changes everyone was feeling was something that he wanted to keep an eye on. If he went forward alone he wouldn’t be able to keep tabs on them.
He also wasn’t in any hurry. He checked the leader board and his name was still number one. Jason however was sitting at number two but there was still a large margin between them. As it was his attack on the compound he got the majority of points for its destruction, but many others had made their way onto the top 10 as well.
