The more Jason continued to pull on his own power the cleared picture Shaun got about the affinity that he had. He couldn’t get an exact read on what he had exactly but there was traces of elements that he understood easily enough.
There was a tinge of air in the mix, as well as water and electricity. None of them were excessively strong to the point that he was worried but he was definitely curious. It was an odd yet interesting mix and by the amount of power building within Jason he had a good indication that whatever his actual affinity was it was definitely at the advanced stage.
He also got a feeling that it probably shouldn’t be. The mix of elements in Jason should have put it at Epic but somehow it was all reduced down to a much lower level. The real question was, how and why. He knew from their previous conversation that he was either born or given his ability at a young age. Knowing what he did now about Earth being a Nexus planet, his guess was that someone in his family had stumbled across something that gave them some kind of heritage that allowed them to gain a specific power, or affinity, from the start which they could grow into higher ranks.
Jason so far had only managed to get it to advanced, but with time and training he figured that he could get it higher. Watching the way Jason’s affinity was put into his spear was also interesting as he was seeing how the elements interacted with each other, although nowhere near enough to get a full understanding of what it was.
There was something he could do to change that though. He guessed that when Jason was ready he would stab him with the spear, putting hi in direct contact with it. All he had to do was wait for that moment and he would be able to act.
It took Jason a few minutes for him to gather every once of power he had into the attack. He felt when he was close to being ready, having sensed when nearly every bit of mana in Jason’s body was gathered in the spear. For an E grade he was impressed with the amount of mana Jason could wield, but it paled in comparison to his own. He accessed the attack against his own defences and was happy to conclude that the attack may hurt a little bit but wouldn’t be anywhere close enough to kill him.
Jason gave him no warning when he attacked outside of yelling and plunging the spear at him. Shaun had to stop himself from moving, his instinct telling him to avoid a direct hit to the heart. The spear managed to cut through his armour but only managed to get an inch or so under his skin before it stopped.
The magical power behind the attack still shot into his body but he was more than ready for it, he activated his plan immediately. Using elemental storage he raced to gather as much of the elemental power that Jason had pushed into the spear and then his body to store for him to look at down the track. It was much harder to do, gathering elemental power from an attack was very different than doing it from a treasure or item, but he did manage to gather enough that he would have just enough to play around with and dissect it for future research.
All of this happened in seconds. The attack finished and he wasn’t able to gather any more of the elemental power but at least he got enough. Jason though was in a worse state than he was. Although he had a small cut on his chest and through his armour, Jason looked ready to drop.
He had put everything he had in that attack and yet Shaun was still just sitting on the ground, unmoved and smiling slightly.
“So, I guess you will give the order now and then I can kill you?” He cut straight to the chase now that the attack was over. He didn’t care that Jason looked ready to collapse, they had a deal and he was ready to get out of this event.
“You are a monster.” He ignored that bit and just looked at him expectantly.
“Well, are you going to fulfil your part of the deal or not?” If Jason backed out now he was going to be pissed and he was going to take it out on him right here and now.
Event Notification
Jason Charlo has conceded the event on behalf of his entire side of The War.
All Event points have been finalised.
All participants will be transferred back to where they were before the event in 5 seconds.
Wait, what! “How did you do that?” He was betting on having to have all of The Pantheon leave and for him to kill Jason, how did he just end it?
“You seriously didn’t know? As a leader we have the option in the bracelet to concede and end the event at any point since you destroyed our compound. Do you seriously pay that little attention to the options we get as leaders?”
In truth, no he didn’t. He didn’t really look at it at all unless he had to. If he had known it was there he might have used it just to end this thing sooner, thankfully it all worked out in the end for him anyway. This was why he shouldn’t be the leader of anything though, he really hated the admin aspects to it and he had no interest in searching through menu’s to find something that may or may not exist.

Before either of them had any more time to say anything else he was enveloped in darkness and this time for a bit longer than he had expected. It took a few moments instead of an instantaneous transfer back to Earth. When he could see again he found himself back in the F grade area, surrounded by all of the people from his settlement that chose to go to the event. All of them were looking up at Viv like they had been before the event had started.
He didn’t have to wait long for Ir notification to appear In front of his eyes, this one at least he was looking forward to. It was none other than the rewards being divvied out for the event, and he was not disappointed by them at all.

**Title Gained: Unrivalled Might**
Through not only participating in the event of a newly integrated world and coming out on top of all those who would call you a peer you have shown unrivalled might. +25% to all stats
All the title gave him was a 25% boost, nothing more. At first when he saw it he was annoyed, some of his other titles gave him so much more than that. When he though about it for a moment though he calmed down and actually appreciated it. % boosts, for most, were rare. And immediately getting 25% stronger for most was a huge increase. These titles would also follow one all the way through their progression so he understood why it was such a big deal.
There was no more notifications for the event, after the last one where he got the title it was just over. Everyone stood around a bit awkwardly, not quite sure what they should be doing now that the fighting was over. The event started and finished on Earth in a blink of an eye, but for them it felt like much longer.
“Thank you, all of you, who made winning not just the event possible but also helped us win the planet!” Viv for her part went straight into political leader mode, drawing everyone attention and taking control of the situation. “Everything that we have all accomplished needs to be celebrated. I will put out the request, in three days time we will put on a festival, a celebration, to mark the winning of this event at both a settlement and individual level. We will celebrate your bravery, your might and most of all your dedication to this world. For now, see your loved ones, enjoy yourselves and know that without all of you this wouldn’t have been possible.”
The people cheered and celebrated at her words, and as Instructed, most of them made their way from the area they had gathered and went back to their homes, their families and the lives that they had before the event.
He still had a few days before the D grade area would be done which meant he would need to stick around here for a bit and tidy up some loose ends before moving out. One of the biggest things he needed to do was talk to Viv, and by extension, talk to The Empire.
Anyone who saw him as they left congratulated him or smiled or even cheered for him. He put on a polite smile but continued to make his way towards Viv. Along the way he took out his stone and communicated to Eric that he should gather with him and Viv in his office at the school to sort out the future. He got a short reply agreeing which was enough for him.
He wanted to do this now, off the back of the high of winning when he thought that The Empire would be most amendable to his requests. He made his way to Viv quickly and when he got close to her he knew she was already in the midst of communicating with Xavier.
“We need to speak about what is going to happen now. I want to cash in all of what is owed to me by The Empire. Meet me at Eric’s office at the school.” With Viv he didn’t wait for a reply, he made sure through his tone that this wasn’t a request, but an order.
He had sunk a lot into the D grade area and he was owed a lot by The Empire, he doubted that he would need to convince them to agree with him, at least not a lot of convincing, but he wanted to take full advantage of the current situation while he could.
Rather than shifting into his new form he chose instead to use his trusted form of shifting into the wind and traveling at high speed. He could still do this with the metamorphosis skill as it was just a straight upgrade from his old shifting skill. He moved quickly over the settlement back to the school and when he arrived it looked just as it had before the event.
He was the first to arrive here from the event and when he appeared in the middle of the school grounds he got a lot of looks. Everyone that saw him stopped and stared, looking on expectantly as if waiting for an answer. They hadn’t received the event message as they didn’t participate so he gave them the update they wanted.
“We won the event, it is over and we succeeded. Viv has said that in three days we shall celebrate. Go and enjoy yourselves, without all of the prep work you all did we wouldn’t have done as well as we did.”
There were exclamations of excitement and people went running to spread the news. For his part he just made his way to the office to sit and wait for the others to show. Once this conversation was finished he would be done with Viv and The Empire for the most part. The only things left to do on Earth was cap out his profession and then he was ready for D grade.
