He slowly breathed in deeply before exhaling slowly, watching as his breath froze and wisped away into the cold air. The figure was currently leaning against his crutch and a lone tree at the top of a hill giving a slightly decent view of the surroundings. To his disappointment though he was in a large clearing and at the top of the hill he only saw trees spread out in all directions. In the far horizon he could see mountains stretching from the west towards the south and he faintly saw a glimmer of a river in the far distance running down from the mountains. A smile broke out on his face as running water usually meant some kind of town along its edge sooner or later. He looked towards the skies not seeing much in the way of weather, it was mainly clear skies for the day it seemed which was nice. He then softly sat down, leaning his back to the tree and setting the crutch across his lap. He took a few breaths as he quietly relaxed, enjoying the view as a soft breeze ruffled his matted hair. It was peaceful and relaxing an even though his body was still wounded an hurting everywhere, he managed to relax a bit. After about a half hours worth of time passed, he softly sat fully upright and examined the condition of his body. He wanted to regenerate his left leg now so he could travel faster and easier plus his more serious wounds were starting to develop gangrene and fester. He needed more food for energy and soon if he wanted to avoid getting sick out here. He made a face at the thought of ripping the gangrene flesh out of his wounds at he shivered at the thought of that kind of pain. He was able to ignore the constant aches and flashes of pain from the wounds littering his body but the pain was starting to take its toll on him mentally.
He shook his head as he pushed it all back down deep inside. He'll figure it out eventually, he'll get through this....he had to an he had not many other choices besides death. He flicked his ears before perking them up, listening intently to his surroundings carefully looking for something to eat. His stomach immediately disagreed and started rumbling in pain at the idea of eating raw meat again. He then sniffed the air trying to discern any scents to follow while carefully getting back up with the crutch. The wind blew up the hill sending drifts of snow past his body while a scent of elk entered his nose. He immediately turned to the southeastern direction where the scent came from before slowly hobbling down the hill to the other side of the clearing. The scent of elk got slightly stronger as the breeze kept blowing into his face as he had a feeling he was gonna be walking for a while. His thoughts started to wander as he trudged through the forest as he was trying to figure out how to make a fire. He kept trying to think of how to make a fire but his mind came up blank. It seemed like whatever he seemed to know from before his 'mindwipe' as he calls it now, didn't include how to make a fire. Suddenly, he froze as a thought flashed through his head.
Magic. Hm but how would I even cast m-
His body softly paused as his head started to throb and hurt like an intense headache. Knowledge of magic swarming though his head like a powerful wave against the shore. He fell to his knees as he started to breathe deeply and slowly while going through the info in his head, doing his best to relearn it and absorb it again. He then sat down while thinking of the info in his head. It seemed from what he could tell, he must've been taught magic by someone else with a lot of knowledge. It was easily compiled and neatly explained in understanding ways. Magic from what he gathered, was a universal source and everyone was able to use magic to an extent. Everyone could use magic without attributes but that was the weakest form of magic and was only good really for everyday things. Affinities were what made magic well magic. When your born, or through adversity, or even through training you could unlock or earn an affinity to magic or make it stronger. Affinities had 8 levels of power so to speak and each level had there own roadblocks depending on the persons soul. Then there was the ways to cast spells or magic via either writing, chanting or thought. Each one was harder then the last while spells could be used for prolonged periods of time whereas magic effects were quick bursts. Spells would best be explained as long standing shield or barriers while magical bursts would be like fireball or a magic arrow.
He shook his head and sorted his thoughts further as he learnt more. Magic also had various states which further magic things complex. There was the spirit state which he recognized as the energy in his body which was used for regeneration. Spirit state was the most basic form for magical energy after it left the soul through the mana heart. Afterwards depending on your talent or training you could compress the spirit state down into a more purified concentrated state of magic. The pros of this were that your magic was even stronger an more powerful but the downsides was the immense amount of magic it took an time. it was a 100 to 1 ratio where 100 units of spirit magic compressed would make 1 unit of the next state. Also depending on your training it would either take a few seconds or even years for the less talented. Most people stayed as spirit state users most there lives. The states of magic follow this order, Spirit, Aurora, Corporeal, -. The knowledge ended there but there was one side state called Aqueous but that turned magic into a liquid that was used for either potions or spells engraved into patterns on surfaces. There was also hints of knowledge about multicasting but from what he gathered, he wasn't taught any of it sadly.
He sat there contemplating his new found knowledge as he tried to figure out ways to cast magic. He knew the types, states, an ways to cast magic but strangely enough he wasn't taught how to utilize magic for some strange reason. He only had one thought on how to utilize magic but it just seemed like a garbled mess in his head. He had a feeling whatever the garbed mess is, he wasn't supposed to have gotten it since whenever he tried to examine it he felt anger an rage start building inside him. It must have something to do with his amnesia or before it and it made him feel uneasy. He quickly ignored the mess as he breathed evenly for a while to calm down. He would worry about magic later an how to cast it since the scent of elk was getting faint. First he needed to kill an elk before trying to think on how to cook it and losing the trail of the elk would be counterproductive to the whole thing. He then resumed hobbling along with his crutch while scanning the area before him for elk. His thoughts on the other hand kept thinking on how to utilize magic but at the end of the day he didn't know the magic language nor the sigils to write any spells out. He also didn't even know how to move or control his magic for anything besides his regeneration. He suddenly paused as he realized something he could try and do.
He then focused on the feeling of the energy that comes from his soul as he tried to dig it out. He slowly raised his arm up in front of him, palm down as he concentrated. Slowly, like a dam cracking open more an more, The gem in his heart started to gush with energy as he just realized where the energy was coming from. Suddenly the energy started to pour into his arm as black veins started to appear down along him arm, his fingertips slowly turning pitchback as the color spread up along his hand. His arm started to shake intensely while the energy built up further an further becoming compressed an essentially turning into a high powered bomb. He started to visibly freak out an panic as he tried to close an block off the flow of energy from the strange gem. He then felt his muscles an bones in his arm throbbing in pain as the pressure threaten to obliterated his arm as he then forced the energy out from his arm. Suddenly an without warning a beam of pure black energy erupted from his hand wildly spreading in a chaotic rough cone shape. The energy had three attributes from what he saw briefly, Void, Shadow, and Ice. He also know an immense amount of spirit state mana went into his arm and the end spell was just a push of intense magic in one direction. The side effect though of it having the void attribute meant everything it pushed was gone. The end result of his little eruption of magic was for a good 200 feet in a spreading area of effect like a cone, nothing was left besides bare dirt an fallen trees.
He looked at the devastation he caused an softly gulped nervously then he started to feel an intense pain in his chest. In the dim quiet, a soft crack split the air while red blood splattered onto the snow below. His arm from below the elbow was a tattered mess of flesh while the blackish gem in his heart dimmed by a lot while slowly cracking. A blackish blood with multicolor sparks running through it spilled from the crack as a pain worse then the burning soul magic in his soul coursed through his entire being. Blood erupted from his eyes an ears an spilled from his nose while he started to scream an cry from the pain. He had fallen into the snow as his body started to spasm out of control from the pain. He was paying the price for magic he tried to use without controlling it properly nor with the proper understanding of his elements. The gem had stopped cracking as he laid there in the snow whimpering an crying in pain an fear from what he experienced. His arm had thankfully stopped bleeding luckily but his mind was muddled an broken. He just wanted to give up and cry as he sniffled while trying to breath from the blood covering his face.

The sun was at its zenith while a roar broke out across the sky. Huge loud wingbeats went through the air as another roar, this one different from the first answered the first ones call. He suddenly sat up scared an shivering from the roars. Whatever they were, were immensely powerful as he could feel the air quiver from so far away. Suddenly lightning arced through the sky in a continuous beam that swung through the air wildly while a roar of pain went through the sky. The beam razed the forest near him as he saw the beam decimate the land while the forest caught fire, blue fire. Fire achieved luckily, bad news was it was a fire that was currently spreading towards him now an was spread over a wide range as the bare dry tress were decent fuel for the this strange blue fire an the snow or ice didn't slow it much. He quickly got onto his one leg and whined seeing as he couldn't use his crutch. He then looked back at the fire then yelped seeing the lightning beam slice through the forest on his within 20 feet of him. He flinched an fell away from the destruction as snow an trees alike were thrown into the air an caught fire from the immense heat. The sky overhead lit up in blue as even more roars shook the air as the battle between two beats raged on even more intensely. He didn't even spare a glance as he forced his body back onto his one leg before hopping along as fast as he could away from the raging heat an flames. He heard an elk let out a bellow of pain from behind him as various creatures either took to the sky's to flee or started to run from the flames as fast as possible. Suddenly the roar of a creature he knew of came from the flames from behind him as it was another panther like creature with five eyes. It came barreling out of the flames with a intense speed, the creature being slightly singed an fire briefly catching on its fur. It quickly went tumbling through the snow desperately putting the flames out then turning to the wall of flames approaching it as it hissed. He, the figure on the other, hand leaped against the creature as it had its back turned then bit into the panthers fur. The panther didn't even bother looking at what hit it as the fire got closer it hurriedly sprinted away from the blue flames in fear. The panthers speed was intense as it dashed through the trees easily, sometimes leaping against a tree an propelling itself further or propelling for tight turns. The figure on its back hung on with her teeth as he was thrown around by the creature. Suddenly the panther did another tight turn as the fur was ripped from the panthers back an the figure was thrown past the tree an sent tumbling in the snow.
The panther ignored the figure an kept sprinting even faster now as the roars of the two creatures in the sky fighting continued. The figure got up coughing an spitting as a one of his fangs fell out as he groaned in pain. He figured his jaw had probably cracked as he sighed. He was lucky the panther didn't bother with him an ran. He then forced himself up to hop further away, using the panther had bought himself time from the wildfire for now. He glanced at the sky as he saw movement in the skies an froze. He recognized these creatures as drawn pictures an stories of myths flowed into his head about them. It was something he had learned of apparently and these creatures were dragons. Right now though, One blue, white dragon and one brown, green dragon were fighting it out above. Another beam of lightning erupted from the Blue Dragon while the Brown let loose a torrent of bright yellow flames. Both dragons were covered in claw an bite marks while the brown has a line traced down its chest burnt black an was missing an arm. The Blue had singes an holes in its wings from the flames but was better off. He quickly looked around his surroundings an saw a decimated forest area with a cave entrance. He assumed they were fighting over a lair as the dragons were directly overhead.
He started thinking of the stories about dragons that appeared in his head an saw that usually there lairs had a kind of energy change inside base on the dragon. It didn't describe it besides as a energy change and that dragons were highly intelligent an able to communicate with other races. If he could figure out which one owns the lair, he could try risking another output of magic aimed at the other to try an help an gain its favor. Granted, he was risking his life and it was highly stupid but if he wanted to heal quickly, plus maybe learn how to learn magic from a being that uses magic for there very large lifetimes and even know where the nearest village was, it was worth the risk. He quickly thought it all over and then started to hop towards the lair as fast as possible, his leg burning from the exertion as he went to the entrance to the lair. As he looked into the lair, he could see a shimmering wall that seemed to block off the rest of the lair. He couldn't see through the shimmer and softly huffed as he then started to hobbled towards it. He then cautiously went to the barrier then placed his arm stump upon the surface. Instantly an arc of lightning hit his chest an launched him from the caves opening, sending him crashing through the snow drifts, tumbling head over head. He suddenly splatted against the ground an stopped as steam rose from his body. He then heaved a deep breath while sitting upright, his eyes wide an scared. He was suppose to die to the magical attack but it suddenly diverted towards the gem in his heart. He looked down at the gem an sighed in relief then paused as the crack inside the gem had healed slightly surprisingly. The color of blue seemed to shine a bit brighter in the gem then the other colors which made him curious about what had happened.
He then quickly ignore it as he raised his arm stump to the sky. The two dragons were still fighting it out an were currently in a tangle of wings and claws, both out to kill the other. Blood rained from the sky as he tried to recreate what he did earlier but this time with more caution. He carefully drew the power out an instead of panicking as the torrent of power rushed out an grew, he focused on constricting it and limiting its flow before blocking it off. His arm stump had turned completely black with black veins arching to his chest an connecting with the veins on his chest. Now instead of expelling the mass from his arm, he tried to release it in a narrow beam by having it expelled from a certain point aimed at the brown dragon best he could. Suddenly a powerful beam shot out from his arm, as the voidic energy hungrily ate everything in its path. The beam ate away at the brown dragon as the dragon suddenly started to drop dead from the sky as it was missing a good third of its body. The beam had continued on and had also hit the blue dragon as one of its wings disappeared along with a lot of its side. It roared in immense pain an fury while it started to spiral out of control an fall from the sky. The dragon was dying as blood spewed from its body, meanwhile a echoing explosion shook the forest as the brown dragons corpse made impact with the ground, leaving a small crater 10 feet in each direction from its corpse. Snow an dirt were kicked into the air hitting the figures body as he coughed a bit from the debris. The blue dragon diverted itself with its one good wing as a second explosion shook the forest but this time with blood an guts an brown scales with viscera exploding outwards. He made a face as a piece of brown flesh an blood splattered onto his body as he looked at his stump of an arm. His arm was now gone up to the shoulder an even a part of his chest was gone as he winced from the raw pain. He looked at the raw flesh in his lap an quickly bent over an ate it as he diverted the bit of regeneration energy to stop the blood loss at least for now.
