(Chapter 1 Revamped) Who am I? Who was I?

The day I woke was a very, very cold day. I still vividly remember the feeling as the chill pierced my wounds and body like thousands of frostbitten needles, sapping any warmth from me mercilessly. It was tough to move or even feel as not a single shred of my body had remained unaffected by the frost and ice starting to cover me. Let's not even forget the pain I was feeling at the time from my wounds, but I'll get more to that in a minute.

The clouds above covered the sky, creating a grey, dull, overcast sky with rays of sunshine briefly shining through every so often while the clouds drifted by. I remember hearing the wind blowing among the barren tree branches above as trees creaked and groaned, creating a cacophony of noise as the quiet forest quickly turned not-so-quiet.

Then lastly, there was the thick iron smell of blood. I could smell it and feel it as if my clothes had a sticky, wet feeling to them that was slowly starting to freeze to ice. The smell of blood was the only smell I could, well, smell as I struggled to move my body and get up while a strange thought went through my head.

"How did I get here? Wha- Who am-"

I then remembered it all as a ringing noise started to echo through my head, my magic power fluctuating out of control wildly from the surge of emotions I began to feel. The air thrummed alive as a roar of a myth roared out from me while the shadows themselves twisted and screamed in agony as if in response. The ground started shifting and flowing back and forth, almost like waves of water, as magic pulsated out in waves from my body, trees cracking and splintering as they toppled away from me.

For some odd reason, though, it was my body, but I seemed to be watching everything from...somewhere else. Something came clawing from within my soul, taking control of my body with pure malice and vengeance as pure murderous intent and insanity flowed.

Memories started to pop up within my consciousness as all I saw were broken, mangled bodies everywhere, blood flowing like rivers from my hands. I wanted to kill them all. Every last one of-

Just as I started to remember who and why, it ended as quickly as it began. Something else in my soul came alive, chains of pure black magic coming out, wrapping around the pure malice and vengeance tightly and dragging it back within. A few chains came to me and ripped away my memories, hiding them and locking them away.

As I started to black out, I remember regaining control of my body while my memories were wiped clean again. I then went limp, my body thudding in the snow while my magic power calmed and ebbed away. This is how my story started anew, but nowhere near an end in sight.

----------------------------------------

I suddenly jolted awake, pain lancing through my body while my head pounded in pain. I felt wrong somehow as I tried to remember who or where I was. I then paused as nothing came to me while I tried to sit up.

The ice cracked on my body, splintering as I looked at my mess of a body while fresh blood poured from my wounds and through the cracks in the ice. I grunted in pain, shuffling my mangled body to where I was sitting upright and leaning back against a fallen tree trunk with a few upright trees next to it.

I then took in a slow deep breath, wincing in pain while trying to get my bearings of my surroundings or even me in general. I couldn't remember anything at all, no matter how hard I tried to think of something. I took a deep shuddering breath again as I heard thunder echoing from the distance, and fear briefly took hold of my heart. My eyes looked to the heavens above, seeing the angry mass of dark clouds in the distance slowly coming closer.

I then turned my eyes from the sky overhead back towards the earth around me as I only saw trees and snow wherever I looked. I glanced at where I was, seeing snow and trees blown away in an almost perfect circle. I shivered from the cold before softly feeling a different chill go down my spine as I finally looked at my own body in fear. I gave a dry, low cackle as I saw my mangled mess of a body as the feeling of death scythe seemed to creep along my neck. I was going to die out here...alone.

I felt cold tears welling up in my eyes and starting to freeze from the extremely cold temperatures while emotions violently convulsed through me. My right arm was gone completely, leaving a curved gaping wound with the flesh there being in shreds and tatters. The blood and flesh were now frozen in ice, with frostbite creeping along my shoulder. My left arm was intact, with a few cuts and gaping wounds from what looked like some kind of bite, but I was missing part of my fingers from a blade as they had been cleanly cut off at a slant. My index finger and thumb are the only intact fingers. My legs were bent at various angles, with my left leg having the bone jutting out completely, covered in a layer of snow and frost. My legs were thoroughly frostbitten as my legs were a deep purple, almost black color. The left leg was worse off than the right, but it didn't provide me much comfort.

I sniffled, crying a little, seeing my body like this, as the only saving grace was I was pretty much frozen, so I didn't feel the pain, thankfully. I felt warm tears leak down my cheek and freeze along my chin quickly while I examined my body more. I also had burns along my chest and side, while claw marks seemed to cover me everywhere. My shirt was in ragged tatters as I paused, looking at something in the snow beside me. It was a fluffy wolflike tail, and I grew confused. I followed it and saw that it was attached to me. It was frozen stiff, with the fur being bloodied and singed as I then reached behind me feeling my lower back. I felt more wounds and felt more stumps that belonged to more tails of mine that seemed to be receding?

I grew confused, wondering what I even was, as I clearly wasn't human, and my mind wandered briefly, thinking I might be a lycanthrope type. I paused, wondering where the knowledge of humans came from as I blinked and tried to remember anything, grasping at my mind feebly. It felt so wrong...unnatural in a way. I whined, giving up and trying not to cry more as I reached for my head feeling a wolfish ear as the other seemed to have been ripped off. I sighed and then paused as I poked my head, feeling two hard curved horns that curved inwards and back behind my ears. I then rubbed them, feeling scales that merged with my skin at the base under my hair.

I grew more confused now as nothing popped up in my head on what I was besides Hybrid. As I looked at my body, more knowledge of demons and other horned creatures popped into my head. The conclusion I came to was I'm being hunted by someone as my heart started to race while fear crawled up my spine. I needed to get out of here, I wanted to live too. I felt my emotions surge in desperation as I looked around. The storm was closer now, the wind starting to pick up and roar through the trees with a fury only nature could do. Thunder grew louder and echoed through the heavens as I whimpered.

I looked around again, pausing as my ear perked, hearing a coyote howl and yip in the distance as more knowledge flowed into my head from an unknown source. The snow was almost a foot high and there wasn't much cover around besides fallen trees. I then spotted two trees that had fallen over another tree that had fallen, creating a kind of lean-to pocket of space underneath. I then used my one good arm to push and pull myself forward toward the trees desperately, my legs dragging behind me while ice that had formed on my body cracked and splintered. Fresh, hot blood poured from the open wounds slowly while I felt myself getting a tad dizzy from blood loss.

I started to get even more desperate, hauling myself forward before being stopped as something yanked my leg, I heard frozen flesh being torn apart. I turned my head to look back as the bone jutting out my thigh had just caught onto an exposed root from my crawling, and when I pulled forward, it ripped my leg apart further. I felt tears in my eyes but gave up on my leg as I reached back, ripping the frozen flesh apart easily and tossing my now ripped-off leg to the entrance of the tree, lean-to while hauling myself forward again. I was just thankful my leg wasn't bleeding, and I didn't feel pain from it as I started to cry. It was so unfair that I had to suffer like this without even knowing the reason why.

I dragged myself finally under the fallen trees into the small pocket of space as deep shuddering, choked sobs started to come from me. I then slammed my hand into the snow in anger while crying louder. My body laid under the trees as I shivered violently from the cold that was grasping at the last of my warmth in my body.

'I want to go home...'

I cried further as I tried to remember or think of any family I might've had but nothing came up as I just cried further.

I could hear the wind howl outside as snow and hail started to pelt down into the ground with a vengeance. I then heard the lightning crack across the sky before crashing into the forest with a loud bang, thunder echoing violently through the air itself.

I eventually stopped crying as I sniffled a bit, wiping the chunks of ice off of my face. A fierce determination to live started to burn inside me as my stomach grumbled in hunger.

I took a slow, steady, deep breath as I mentally prepared myself for what I was about to do.

'My leg is frozen pretty much, I can't save it now and I need food...Ohhh I'm gonna be sick."

I then reached out towards my now ripped-off and frozen left leg, closing my eyes and trying not to think about it too much before tearing my teeth through the frozen flesh. I winced at the taste of my own raw flesh as I tore chunks and skin off, slowly devouring it and doing my best not to chew it or taste it. I felt my stomach flip as I grew sick while continuing to eat. I even shoveled snow into my mouth, trying to wipe the taste of frozen blood out while drinking the minimal amount of water the snow gave. I then tossed the leg aside as it was mostly picked to the bone with dangling bits here and there on it.

I could feel my stomach trying to heave as I clasped my mouth shut and clenched my teeth, puking into my mouth and swallowing the acidic taste back down. I felt tears well in my eyes but softly shook my head, my body violently shivering from the cold now as I tried to tuck myself away against the tree, trying to preserve what little warmth and sanity I had left.

I slowly started to drift off as I claimed a bit, hearing the slow, steady, strong beats of my heart echoing through my body as a warmth seemed to spread from within my soul.

'Hmmmmmmm? What?'

I suddenly seemed to have found myself floating in darkness. I paused, seeing my body as it had been originally, I had one tail, which confused me since I felt stumps of more. I then flinched feeling something heavy on my back as I turned, my wings fluttering frantically like a startled bird as my tail lashed around before pausing again.

'Wings?.."

I paused again as I slowly stretched my wings out, softly flapping them while examining the beautiful, sleek black feathers. My wings were slim and long and felt powerful, and a smile grew on my face. I could fly, I could get out of the hell I was in, but I couldn't.

'They took my wings...'

I could feel anger blooming within me as I didn't remember having wings in the real world. I sighed to calm myself as I glanced around, seeing a voidlike emptiness stretch for eternity. This dream was so strangely calming, giving me a vague sense of home. Tears started to drip from my eyes as I took slow, shuddering breaths as emotions came from within my soul that were but also weren't mine. I felt the feeling that I was wrong again as I felt extremely sad and desperate for something.

Suddenly, I saw cracks appearing in the void, and the dream started to shatter. I heard the air ripping apart around me violently, as a sound echoed from the void as if the void itself was begging for mercy. I then jolted awake with a scream of sorrow that wasn't my own. I wiped the tears from my eyes and looked at my back quickly. I saw a horrid jagged wound from where my wings used to be as only the left wing joint had a stub left that ended in a jagged bony point.

I started to cry again at something else I had lost without knowing the reason why as a thought appeared in my head.

'Why don't I just end it all, I don't want to suffer like thi- NO!! I-I can't...Heh..'

I started to chuckle as my eyes gave a slight glint of madness and anger.

'I need to kill whoever did this! But I need to live first. heheha'

I kept chuckling as I looked at my chest and paused, seeing the frostbite had been...Pushed back? Some of my smaller wounds seemingly had healed as I had slept. I looked at my hand seeing the stumps of my fingers had gained a bit of length back as well as I chuckled again.

"I can regenerate..... I CAN REGENERATE HAHAHAHAAA!!!"

I laughed out loud my voice being rough sounding as I then coughed a bit. I then swallowed some more snow as the melted water helped soothe my throat. I chuckled as my mind started to think rapidly as I needed lots of food. I turned my attention to my torn apart left leg and my messed up right leg as they were still frostbitten, and then I looked at the gaping wound where my right shoulder would've been. I saw the wound had healed just a tiny bit, the wound having mostly scabbed over, and the frostbite was gone from it, but since frostbite was gone, it was hurting like all hell. I then paused as the pain from various other wounds on my body started to register as I whined in pain, hissing a bit while I flicked my one good ear.

I then flexed my hand as something instinctually came over me, claws coming out from under my fingernails from my 2 fingers. I then looked back at my legs as I started to cut away at my legs right before the frozen flesh met my warm, still alive flesh. I cleanly cut both my legs off as I then started to eat the frozen meat again, only swallowing small bits and not chewing as I winced from the taste. I even cracked my own bones open, eating small bits of the bone and bone marrow as I was trying to eat every last piece now not to waste.

My stomach, on the other hand, was only growing more upset as I clutched my stomach in pain while I did my best not to puke again. I was really hating my stomach right now but not much I can do about it. I then forced my body to move, dragging myself out from under the trees. pushing snow aside as it was 2 feet high now. My head was just barely able to peek over the top if I sat upright. The wind had died down as the sun was shining down from overhead. It seemed to be around noon when I heard a bird chirp in the distance.

I then sat and waited hoping for some animal to come by eventually as I wanted to try and get it or even follow it to its burrow somehow. I sighed as hours seemed to roll by painfully slowly. Wind blowing through rustling branches and sending snow falling now and then. The sun above slowly melting the snow ever so slightly as the hours ticked by, causing it to go down half of a foot and soaking the ground in water.

I then heard rustling before freezing and going still as a pair of white-furred coyotes suddenly scrambled onto one of the fallen trees nearby, looking around and sniffing the ground and air. I stayed as still as I could, making sure not to move my eyes either now as I just watched the coyotes. They trotted along the fallen trees, digging in various areas through the snow for prey before one of them froze as it spotted me.

I made no moves as the coyote's head went up and down while looking at me before cautiously getting closer and closer as it sniffed the air. The coyote was being quite careful and cautious of me as I was now trying to watch it from my peripheral vision. The other coyote yipped as it soon came trotting over to its friend as the first coyote looked back at the second one. The first coyote was close enough as I suddenly lunged out, my claws coming out as I grasped the first coyote's head, my claws digging into its skull as I dragged it towards me.

The first coyote started to growl and struggle violently, chomping down at my arm with its fangs and scrambling and kicking at my arm with its claws. The second coyote growled and ran forward, pouncing onto me and knocking me back, its fangs suddenly biting down onto my face as I felt a few fangs puncture my cheek. I slammed the first coyote's head into the tree trunk behind me, and a loud thump sounded while I let go. I then slammed a fist into the second coyote's body and ripped it from me as part of my cheek ripped off my face, pain lancing through my head as blood poured like a fountain from my face.

I then growled in pain as I slammed my fist into the second coyote's snout while it tried to pounce on me again, and I then grabbed its snout, yanking it forward to me roughly. I then slammed it to the side as it was trying to yank free and claw my arm, and I suddenly bit into the coyote's neck, my fangs tearing into the flesh beneath its fur as I ripped the coyote's throat out. I then did it again, and again, and again ripping more and more apart as blood splurted onto my face and chest. The coyote gurgling on its own blood as it soon flopped down lifeless in my lap. I then looked at the first coyote as it was laying there, whimpering as its snout was crooked. I then grabbed the coyote's neck, twisting it with a loud crack.

I then quickly used my claws to cut the fur and peel the fur back with my claws as I started to eat the still warm raw flesh of the coyotes. I soon became a bit warm as the hot blood was completely soaking my body, but then I became cold again minutes later as the blood lost the warmth of life and froze on my body. I could feel energy seeming to pulse from within my soul as I slowly regenerated the more I ate. I did my best not to get sick as I hurriedly ate as much as I could before the coyotes became frozen, and I then tossed their corpses away from me once I finished. I then shoveled snow into my mouth slowly as I gagged a bit while softly sighing. I was gonna need a lot more food to eat at this rate to heal myself.

Hours continued to tick by as the regeneration capabilities of my body slowed I now had a fully healed left arm, the wounds on my face were also mostly healed to a point and my right shoulder had healed a bit too. I looked up at the sky, and the sky was turning orange from the setting sun. The forest grew even colder now. I needed to head back into my shelter and rest before freezing. I had some confidence back now about my survival as I smirked to myself.

I then froze as warning signals started to go off in my brain, goosebumps forming on my neck and skin as my hair raised a bit. I felt threatened, and I felt like I was being watched as I then heard a scratching noise...from above me. I then heard a low, deep growl as whatever it was was huge.
