All of a sudden both Breach and Scout turned their heads and stared hard at the back left corner of the room. While both Breach and Scout had done a quick check already when they got here to the room and found no one, now unknowingly the room had surprisingly someone else.
Scout immediately took an aggressive stance and probed for information.
“Maybe you can, But I am more interested in knowing why you are here. Otherwise, you will be going somewhere else after here really soon.”
Breach took Scouts back and looked left and right to see if there was anything suspicious here. Yet, the same as last time. No one is visible here besides the three of them.
Although they can both leave in an instant, Breach and Scout silently agreed to listen to this new person before acting.
“Relax, I will tell you everything that I know.”
Breach took this moment to ask, “In exchange?”
“In exchange...Help me. Let me join you two.”
“...”x2
Scout and Breach took a moment to look at each other.
“Depends...” Scout slowly said.
“On how much I know, correct?”
“Exactly.” Breach answered.
The mysterious middle-aged woman slowly started to speak. Selling herself as hard as possible to show her worth to the duo.
“I know a lot of things, your abilities, your limits, what you have but not fully understood, and finally...”
The mysterious middle-aged woman took a moment to pause to set up the mood. Once she knew she had them...she dropped the metaphorical bomb.
“I know bit of information that could be the key to winning this death game.”
Scout and Breach stared hard straight into the eyes of this mysterious woman. Knowing how to win this terrible game is too tempting to anyone. Breach comes out of his momentary stupor and speaks for them both.
This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.
“Tell me.”
“How to win?”
“No, Everything.”
“Everything?”
“Everything.”
“...”x3
“I see...Everything.”
Taking a moment to get on the same wavelength as the two of them. The mysterious woman quickly understood Breach does not want to know how to win. Rather what she has done to get to this point and what she thinks is winning. Not what she says is winning...for looks are deceiving.
This is also a sort of a test. Her own personal test.
If she cannot understand or keep up with what they are silently saying between the lines... maybe she will be abandoned by the duo in some coincidence...a coincidence to her that is. This is her shot to really be recognized by them.
It also doubles as a test of knowledge; the duo must already know they are lacking in that field. They don’t necessarily need another powerhouse that is combat orientated nor an auxiliary system participant that deals with moveability, escape, and combat situations. The Duo already filled that gap with each other in that field. Just like how they worked together to clear all the floors above.
What they really need is knowledge.
Someone who can do investigation, divination, approximations, and calculations. This and all the other things that they are not strong at in the knowledge field is what they really need. Just like the current predicament where they have everything that is of value in this death game... but they don’t know what it is, what do they do, how to use it, or even what is it for.
Such as those red beads in the cup.
The mysterious Woman knows this, and she knows that they know she knows this too. Because if she didn’t then why would she say what she said earlier if you don’t want to be caught lying.
Thankfully, everything is going according to plan.
Yes, she planned this. Betted things would go this way and took a risk to plan everything until here.
Now, let's see if she can convince the two.
“It started back in the waiting room. I believe you both understand the unspoken rule you can talk and get certain information from your system before the death game starts. Once the death game starts our systems are not however allowed anymore to speak of these secrets.”
“Yeah, my system told me the odds of winning in a death game. But after joining Breach and asking again did I realize my system says it doesn’t have that authority anymore and that this death game felt different.” Scout Responded.
“Exactly, I took that opportunity to ask a lot more questions.”
“About the death game? Me and Scout already did most of them.” Breach asked.
“No, about the death game is easy enough to understand after the death game starts by the system or other people. What I asked for is something else.”
“...”x2
“I asked many questions regarding the rules of the death game. Naturally you two should know the answer of the system saying no or refusing to answer.”
“Yes.”x2
“So, I asked...”
