~Day 176~
After half the day yesterday and an entire night, Gama was finally awake. She must have been exhausted. Or maybe she can just sleep a long time. Either way, she was moving about now and seemed to be much better rested. Still, this was a nice location and I don’t think any of us minded staying another day.
Shortly after breakfast those of us heading into the jungle to do a bit more training gathered together. There were a few more of us this time, Wrok, Venya, Alvir, Gial, Odwiff, and I. Of course Vinn was coming with us as usual, but as usual he also wouldn’t be taking part. It’s starting to get a bit worrying, he’s going to need to be able to defend himself at some point.
Of course, I made sure to tell them all about the poachers and that Cadiz wants us to get rid of them, leaving out what we talked about after that, for obvious reason. The problem is, we also need to bring something from their persons as proof that we’re the ones that got rid of them. It’s not like the nobles on the fence are just going to take our word for it.
So we set off in two seperate groups, if we all left together we wouldn’t gain as many levels individually due to everyone hunting the same monsters. My group consisted of Wrok, Alvir, Vinn and I. I’m not sure why, but Wrok insisted on coming with me. Probably still keeping an eye on me, he still hasn’t told me outright whether he’s going to kill me or follow me. I’m not sure I want either, but I think I know which I prefer.
Most of the day passed by without any event. We found a few more hostile monsters, including a few more deer and also found a group of Mushmen, that proceeded to follow us around for a while. Which made it a little difficult to fight. Still, no wolves, and no poachers. We would be going back to camp with just a few level ups under our belt and not much more to show for them. Or at least that was what I thought when we had begun to walk back.
Something got my attention. I don’t quite know what it was, whether I heard or felt it, but something within my senses noticed a scream. A scream of pain and anger. I stopped in my tracks and looked towards the direction of the scream. I was sure it was over there. “What is it?” Wrok asked stopping to look with me.
Without turning around I nodded in the direction we were looking. “Did you not hear it… A scream.” I replied. Wrok shook his head.
“I heard it.” I heard Alvir say on my other side.
I narrowed my eyes. “You don’t think that could mean… Oasis Wolves?” I asked.
Wrok rubbed his chin. “Wrok can’t see any other explanation. Is your Wolfmother skill high now?” He asked.
Well it’s certainly not low. Does my Wolfmother skill getting higher allow for me to be able to hear nearby wolves in distress or something? I never heard about something like this! “Whatever the case, we’ve got to help.” I turned to the two with me.
Wrok unsheathed the blade resting at his side and Alvir bared his teeth. Then we ran forward, Alvir pulling out slightly ahead of me. I brandished Skullcrusher at my side ready to attack on contact.
After a few short seconds we burst through a thick layer of leaves into an opening with a small caves built in to a large outcropping of rock. It sat up against a sloping hill. Lying in front of it was one pure white wolf, it’s neck stained by what must have been it’s own blood. Yet it’s belly was still showing the clear signs of breath.
In front of the wounded wolf however, were two more of it’s species. A large male and a smaller yet more agile looking female. Facing them, the poachers we saw yesterday, four of them, their weapons drawn ready to fight the the wolves.
Naturally as we burst from the undergrowth, we aquired both parties attention. Alvir immediately sprinted over to the injured wolf, but was immediately blocked the large wolf which growled at him. “Stay away from my wife brat.” The wolf growled.
I blinked a few times and looked over at the wolf. “You can talk?” I asked.
The wolf's attention shifted to me for a moment and his expression seemed to soften slightly. “Well… Yes.. I…” He quickly shook his head, proceeding to being growling at me. “What did you do to me?” He asked baring his teeth.
I shook my head and sighed. Seems as though Wolfmother isn’t as effective on more intelligent wolves. “I Jus-” I began.
“I hate to interrupt, but would you mind stepping out of the way. We have a job to do.” One of the poachers said. Judging by his slightly nicer armor, I can only guess he’s in charge.
Without saying a word, Wrok and I stepped over to the Wolves and turned to face the poachers. “Sorry, we can’t let you do that.” I replied pointing skullcrusher at the poachers.
The poacher reeled back a little, before grinning. “Hmm. You must be workin’ for those damn nobles aye?” He asked.
I shrugged. “Something like that.” I replied.
He chuckled. “Well seems as though we got a problem girlie… Or at least you do.” His grin grew as he raised two large daggers in to a fighting pose.
Just as he did, I also prepared to attack, however just as I gripped Skullcrusher with both hands I felt something brush inbetween Wrok and I. “I don’t care who you are, nobody fights my battles for me.” The male wolf growled as he stood in front of me.
“I’m giving you a chance to look after your packmate, why don’t you take it?” I groaned at the wolf.
The other wolf that was still standing ran up to his side. “She’s right Kuda. Sari is more important than your pride right now.” She looked him in the eye.
Kuda looked between us and the poachers then with a click of his tongue ran over to their wounded pack mate. Letting us turn our attention back to the poachers. “You could have gotten a sneak attack in there.” I commented.
The poacher shrugged. “You’re all going to die anyway, doesn’t bother me to let you talk a bit.” He grinned.
A smile spread across my face. “That’s awfully arrogant of you.” I sniggered in return.
With one last look that said what can you do, the poacher charged at me, his three friends not far behind. They were surprisingly fast. Without a moment to lose I place up my mushroom shield as his blades hit against it. Before he could recover I swang around Skullcrusher, slamming the head into his still in the air body.
He flew through the forest knocking over several trees, causing the sunlight to shine through. Looking forward, I could clearly see his body, well… Corpse was mangled and he clearly wasn’t getting up.
I blinked a few times and looked over and Wrok and Alvir who were both standing still as their opponents were frozen still staring at their boss. Alvir let out a disappointed sigh. “Master… I was looking forward to that.” He whispered.
Eh?! It’s my fault?! I turned to Wrok, whilst he still held an emotionless face, he let out a small sigh that could almost be mistaken for a normal breath. “You too?!” I exclaimed at Wrok. “It’s not my fault!” I said defending myself. “I thought with all his bragging he was going to be really strong so I fought back full strength too!” I explained, panicking a little.
Two of the other poachers dropped to their knees, also dropping their weapons in the process. Whilst the third who also seemed shocked originally smiled. “Interesting. I never thought this job would be interesting.” He said grinning.
I looked at him puzzled. “What do you mean?” I asked brandishing Skullcrusher.
He raised his hands, dropping the bow that was in his hands. “Listen, first off. I’m not with them. You can ask them, I’m new. I have no interest in poaching.” He replied.
I narrowed my eyes and was about to open my mouth before a rather grumpy wolf pushed past me. “No interest in poaching? Then explain what it is you did to my mate.” He growled.
Is he ever not grumpy? Wait mate? Not packmate? So that means that injured wolf is his, what, wife? Then whose the other female? The strange poacher backed up a few feet. “I said I had no interest in poaching, not that I didn’t do it. It’s just a job and I can easily forget about this job you understand?” He gave a business like smile.
Kuda grimaced and stared at the man in the eye. “No.” He replied.
The man scratched the scraggly beard that made up his chin as a bead of sweat rolled down his forehead. “Well this is troublesome. I don’t want to die, but I didn’t particularly want anyone to see what I can do either.” He muttered.
What he can do? I looked around to see if everyone else was as confused as I was. Just in case I made sure to properly prepare myself for a surprise attack, perhaps this man is the truly threatening one of the group. “Stay right where you are.” I threatened.
The poacher smiled as he raised his arm. “Sorry. Can’t do that.” He said before a dark smoke exploded from his hand. I ran up to the smoke and swiped my hand through it. It quickly dispersed and the poacher was nowhere to be seen.
I folded my arms, feeling a little disappointed. Something tells me that wont be the last we see of that guy. Ruffling my hair I turned back to the others. The other two poachers who had surrendered sat on the floor. We were told to kill any we came across, but… These two surrendered and now they’re unarmed. That doesn’t sit well with me.
“Do you want to let them go?” Wrok asked walking to my side.
Before I could answer a troublesome wolf ran into my vision. “We will not be letting them go.” He growled. “They will pay for what they have done.” He finished turning to face the poachers.
I raised my eyebrows before putting my mace away. “I guess that answers that.” I sighed. To be fair, if anyone gets to decide what happens to them, it should be the Wolves who suffered thanks to them.
“I… Apologise for my brother. He has a bad temper, but he protects us.” The third wolf walked over to us bowing her head. “Ah. My name is Kasa, by the way.”
Her brother? So it’s his wife and his brother? Although, these siblings remind of certain elf siblings. Although that might be unfair. I heard the sounds of screaming poachers over to my side, I didn’t look however, as I can imagine it’s not really pleasant. Killing two men for one wolf being injured seems a bit extreme, but they were planning on killing all of us when they thought they had the upper hand.
Come to think of it, I feel as though something a little similar happened when I first got to the dead isles. “So how is she?” I asked referring to the injured wolf.
Kasa ears drooped. “She is… Alive. Although I don’t know if it’ll stay that way. We’re not knowledgeable about healing and even if we were there’s not much we could do.” She sighed. “I don’t suppose any of you can help her?” She asked.
I walked over a crouched next to the wounded wolf, ignoring her angry large mate. The wound looked pretty bad, like get infected and delirious bad. I shook my head. “I don’t think there's much either of us could do.” I replied looking over to Wrok who shook his head. “However. We do have a camp nearby, maybe someone there can help.” I suggested, there’s no point risking her life.
“Absolutely not!” Kuda growled jumping in front of his mate.
I rolled my eyes, what exactly was this guys problem. “For crying out loud Kuda, they’re offering to help!” His sister growled back at him.
Kuda looked up to me and bared his teeth. “It’s her, I don’t trust her.” He growled.
“You’d better watch what you say about my master!” Alvir yelled jumping in front of me.
A sigh leaked my lips and I began to massage my scalp. “Alvir, don’t make this any more complicated than it needs to be just because you want to fight something.” I said, reprimanding him.
Alvirs ears flopped down as he backed away back to my side. “Sorry master.” He nervously chuckled.
My attention turned back to Kuda. “So why don’t you trust me exactly? I helped you with those poachers.” I asked him.
He narrowed his eyes. “As soon as I saw you, a sense of relief and comfort washed over me. I trusted you too much. You did something to me, so I can’t trust you.” He replied.
I folded my arms. “So you don’t trust me, because you trust me too much?” I asked him.
Kuda dropped his head in thought for a few seconds. “When you put it like that…” He responded before shaking his head. “Even so, it’s too suspicious.” He growled.
I let out another sigh, this ones difficult to deal with. “Listen. I have a skill called Wolfmother. It makes me the alpha of my own pack and also means wolves weaker than me will trust me. It’s probably not fully working with you because you’re strong.” I told them. It wasn’t technically a lie, but I feel as though this might go easier if I flatter him.
Support creative writers by reading their stories on Royal Road, not stolen versions.
Kuda seemed a little surprised. “ ah… Well. That makes sense then, yes.” He seemed quite pleased with himself.
I wanted to roll my eyes, but he might catch on if I did that. Some people are kind of easy to manipulate. I don’t think I should make a habit of that. Might as well give it another go now. “So, are we allowed to help now?” My voice came out a little more frustrated than I intended, but I couldn’t exactly help it.
The grumpy wolf looked around at us and back to his mate, with a resigned sigh he nodded his head. “I don’t have much choice if I want to save her.” He grumbled.
My expression relaxed a little, seems as though he’s a good man… Or Wolf, I suppose. “Vinn. Would you mind carrying the wolf please.” I turned around and motioned towards the treeline. Vinn popped out with a big smile on his face having been hiding the entire battle.
“A… A giant Mushman?” Kuda exclaimed, sounding very confused.
I nodded my head. “Your mate will be comfortable on Vinns head. Don’t worry, he’s stronger than he looks.” I reassured Kuda as I took hold of Saris front paws whilst Wrok took hold of her back. Gently we lifted her onto Vinns head.
“Come on, I’ll lead the way. We’re going to be moving quite fast.” I motioned in the general direction of the camp. From where we were I could just about make out the smoke from the fires over the trees.
I began to move in it’s direction with a jog. If we move too fast it’ll risk Sari falling off Vinns head, so we had to move slower than I’d like. I looked behind me, obviously everyone was manage to keep up.
I looked over to Vinn. “Do you think you’ll be okay if we move a bit faster?” I asked him.
The Mushmans eyes moved upwards. He clearly couldn’t see on top of his head, so I don’t know why he decided to do so. After a few second he looked back at me with a determined look. Is that instead of nodding I wonder? It might be dangerous for him to nod right now since his entire body is a head.
I turned back around and began to jog a little faster. “We’re picking up pace a bit.” I raised my voice so everyone could hear me.
Whilst making sure to look back every so often, we made it back to the camp without a problem. The problem was when we appeared with three endangered wolves with us.
I ran over to Cadz and told her what happened, to which she called over her best healer without a drop of hesitation. After making sure she was the getting the attention she needed, Cadiz turned back to us with a grin on her face. “I should have known when I told you to hunt down any poachers you might find you would go one step further and bring back the wolves themselves.” She chuckled. Then she turned to Kuda and Kasa. “It’s a pleasure to meet you both. My name is Cadiz and I’m a Demon Lord. You’re a rare sight these days.” Cadiz introduced herself with a bow.
As expected Kuda was a little bit weary. “It’s thanks to your people that we are a rare sight.” He growled.
Cadiz looked surprised for a moment, but quickly went back to smiling. “You’re not wrong master wolf. However, it’s also thanks to people like me that you have yet to die out.” She smiled coldly.
Kuda reeled back a little before huffing and turning away. Kasa shook her head at her brother and looked up at Cadiz in the eye. “I think what my brother was trying to say, is thank you. To all of you.” She said bowing her head back.
With a wave of her hand Cadiz dismissed her thanks. “It’s part of our duty to protect Oasis Wolves. I must admit though, I’ve never met a full pack of Oasis wolves that could talk.” She commented.
Kasa chuckled. “Have you met many of our kind?” She asked the large demon.
Cadiz furrowed her brow, before shrugging. “You’ve got a good point there my dear. You’re only the third pack I’ve met.” She replied.
I tilted my head and thought for a moment. “Three Oasis Wolves are considered a pack? Is that thanks to the low population?” I asked. As far as I know a pack of Wolves is usually quite large. They’re a pack hunting animal usually.
“Oasis Wolves have always had small packs actually. Even when their numbers were higher they still stayed in small groups.” Cadiz informed me.
Kasa ears flopped down. “Our species has always stayed in strong family groups, it’s family that keeps us going.” She trailed off looking over at her sister-in-law. Although I don’t know if it’s technically marriage between wolves.
With an uncharacteristic sympathetic smile Cadiz patted the wolfs head. “Do you want to go and check how she is?” The demon asked.
Kasa bared her teeth, which I suppose is meant to be a smile. She looked over at her brother who was pacing back and forth not ten foot away from Sari. “If that is okay with the healers.” She replied.
Cadiz smiled once again and ushered us over. Sari already began to look better. They had already cleaned the blood off her and made sure the wounds were all clear from infection. The cut was quite deep, the healers told us she was only alive due to what must be quite a high amount of health. Still, it seems as though it was quite close.
They told us that at the very least she would live, however it would take her until at least tomorrow to heal. So for now we asked the siblings if they wanted to join us at camp tonight. Of course Kasa agreed to straight away, but unsurprisingly Kuda took a little while to agree. If I’m honest, I think he already trusts us, at least as much as you can trust someone you just met. At the very least he’s smart enough to know that we would have no issue hunting him and his family if we wanted to. No, I get the feeling he’s being stubborn just because he’s stubborn.
Still the camp was a little wary of the wolves, mainly due to Kuda’s hostility, but they weren’t left out of the food or anything. There had been so much excitement today that I hadn’t even noticed the time. We had dinner late due to the surprise visitors and it was already reaching midnight by the time we all actually headed for bed.
Kuda however, was refusing to sleep, instead staying by his mates bed and guarding her. If you can give the wolf any credit, it’s that he certainly does care about his family.
~Day 177~
This morning I was woken up to a couple of panicking Wolves, I think most of us were actually. There was someone we forgot to introduce to the Wolves as she was having a long nap. Someone who was rather large and probably quite intimidating to one who doesn’t know her.
Currently, Kuda and Kasa who were for some reason by the lakeside, were growling and barking at Gama who seemed quite confused by the whole thing. A little sluggishly, I pulled myself up from my blanket and wandered over to them. “Keep it down would you, it’s barely even dawn.” I complained rubbing my eye.
Kuda turned to me baring his teeth. “Are you not seeing what we’re seeing?! You have a giant bird sleeping right next to you!” He yelled.
I put up my hand to try and get him to be quiet. “This is Gama. She’s the one flying us.” I explained pointing to the ship behind them.
“Nice to meet you?” Gama said bowing her head lightly. She must be confused who the Wolves are.
Kasa cleared her throat before stepping forward. “It’s a pleasure to meet you. My name is Kasa, this is my brother Kuda. We were saved by Ellena and the others from a group of poachers.” She answered bowing her head back.
Gama looked a little surprised then chuckled. “Oh my. How formal.” She remarked.
Although silent Kuda also reluctantly bowed his head. Before running off back to Sari. I suppose now that he knows this terrifyingly giant bird isn’t anything to worry about he can return to what he’s doing.
“Shouldn’t he be taking some water for his wife to drink.” I turned to see Venya and a few others walking over.
I shrugged. “That might be a bit difficult without thumbs.” I replied with a chuckle.
Kasa wandered over to the water. “She’s not wrong though, would you mind helping me, Ellena?” She asked.
With a smile I pulled the leather canteen from my hip. “We can just use this.” I told her.
So, we filled the canteen with some fresh water and fed it so Sari. Although she was still unconscious, it looked much more like a peaceful sleep now. With the help of Venya we propped up the sleeping wolf and gently poured the water into her mount. Only a little, I was worried too much might drown her or something I’m not quite sure how all this works.
Shortly after the rest of the camp properly started to wake up, including the healers. They were happy with the progress she was making and believed she might possibly wake up sometime today.
Even with that news however, Kuda refused to leave her side and eat breakfast with the rest of us. Kasa told us that he’s always been like that with family, he worries far too much. Although that might just be a trait of the species considering how often his sister would glance back to them with a worried expression.
After a bit of food I decided to get in a few last hours of leveling, we would definitely be leaving today, but it was decided we would at least wait until Sari is awake. So I wandered off in to the jungle. I wasn’t the only one of course, even Kuuli and Bear decided to do a bit of leveling today. We all split up like yesterday so we wouldn’t be getting in each others way and today I was joined by Venya, Wrok and of course Alvir.
Due to the small amount of time we gave ourselves, none of us got much out of it. I only managed to gain Alvir and I one level each by the time we were done. It was getting harder and harder to find tough monsters to level me up. I’m thinking if I have any time free at the capital I should find another sky dungeon.
When we got back most of the camp had already been packed away, however there was a bit of commotion over by the place Sari was being looked after. I couldn’t see past the crowd, so I ran over to join them.
Luckily, it seemed as though Sari was in fact awake, being snuggled and coddled by her husband and sister-in-law. It’s the sort of image that brings a smile to your face. Kasa turned around and spotted me running over. “Ah Ellena! Guess what?” She panted happily.
I let out a small chuckle. “Sari’s awake?” I asked with a slight hint of sarcasm.
Kasa raised her brows for a moment then shook her head. “No, she’s pregnant!” She replied.
Pregnant!? Surely that makes what happened even more dangerous! “Is the child alright?” I asked feeling a little panicked.
“Girl do you think we’d all look so damn happy if my kids weren’t alright?” The dog that was previously unconscious told me.
I turned to face her and bowed my head. “Ah. Sorry, my names Ellena.” I introduced myself.
Sari grinned. “I’ve already been told who you are. Names Sari, but you already knew that.” She told me.
Somehow, I felt a little surprised. When your first introduction to someone is them being unconscious you have no idea what sort of personality they have, so you sort of construct your own. For some reason I had it in my head she would be similar to Kasa. Well, not that it’s a bad thing.
Hold on a second, I feel as though I glossed over something. “Oh yeah! You said kids! As in plural?” I commented slapping my hands together.
A look of confusion spread across the wolves face. “Well yeah. Wolves always give birth to a lot of cubs, we can only do it once a year after all…” Sari replied raising one brow. “You have a wolf… How do you not know this?” She asked tilting her head.
I looked over to Alvir who looked back at me with a blank expression.“Male.” I replied bluntly pointing at him.
Sari looked confused for a few second then burst out laughing along with a few others. “Oh my Gods do you need to be educated about Wolves if you’re going to have one traveling around with you.” She giggled. “Listen Ellena. Most Wolf species will give birth to around 5 cubs and that usually can only happen once a year.” She finished.
I tapped my chin. “What about your species then?” I asked.
The soon-to-be mother seemed to begin to sweat a little, which is weird as I didn’t think wolves could sweat. “Well… I’ll be expecting… Around eight to ten.” She replied with a face full of fear.
My thoughts went blank. “That’s a lot of babies.” I stated.
Sari nodded her head, her eyes glazed over. “That is a lot of babies.” She replied.
I turned to the father of this army of children. “What does the father think about this.” I asked him.
Kuda closed his eyes with a serious look on his face. “I think…” He began. “That that’s a lot of babies.” He finished opening his eyes.
I nodded my head. “That is a lot of babies.” I replied.
For a few seconds everyone was silent, I think we were all deep in thought in how we would feel if we were expecting over eight children. Suddenly to my side Cadiz cleared her throat. “Anyway. We were talking and we figured it would be a bit dangerous to leave these three on their own especially now that we know Sari is pregnant. So Gial, Alka and I came to the decision to offer them a place on our ship.” She informed me. “Is that going to be a problem with you my dear?” She asked.
“No, that seems like a good idea if you ask me. Just… Do we have enough room for three more wolves? Didn’t half of the crew have to stay behind for that very reason?” I asked.
Cadiz turned to look at the ship and scratched her head. “Well, at the very least we should have enough room for the three wolves I think. It might be a bit of a tight squeeze at times, but we’ll make do. We’re about halfway there anyway.” She told me.
I tapped my chin. It’s true that it would be rather cruel of us to just leave them here for the poachers. Besides I quite like these three. “Yeah, it’s fine by me.” I replied with a shrug.
To be honest I don’t really even see why they needed to ask me. I’m not the captain of the ship, I’m not in charge, I’m just a passenger. If anyone should be making that decision it should surely be Cadiz and Gama.
I turned to the three wolves in question. “What about you three. The final decision rests with you after all.” I asked them.
“Ah, don’t worry, we’ve already said yes. Even my brother after a little persuasion.” Kasa informed me.
That’s surprising I thought for sure Kuda would say no. I felt my eyes drift to the grumpy wolf who caught my gaze. “I know what you’re thinkin’, but I’ve got to prioritize my mate and my babies safety at the moment.” He grumbled looking away.
That’s very mature of him. I think? If someone whose usually a bit immature does something with a bit of thinking behind it does that make them mature? Does that make me mature or immature I wonder?
I heard a hand clap from over by the ship which startled me out of my thought process. It was Gial walking over. I hadn’t even realised it, but whilst we were all talking the camp had been completely cleared away. “Well the carts all loaded up, how’s it lookin’ here on this end?” He asked with his usual grin.
“We’ve got three new crew members.” Cadiz replied as she began to walk over to the ship.
Gial placed his hands on his waist. “Just as expected. I’ve gone ahead and sectioned off a little bit of the crew quarters to call ya’ own.” The dark elf explained. With a wave of his hand he ushered the wolves towards the ship. I suppose he’ll be giving them the grand tour.
Although, what are we going to do with the wolves once we reach the capital I wonder. I suppose we can just keep them safe until Sari gives birth. I’m guessing Wolf pregnancies don’t last as long as humans do and as an endangered species the Demon Queen would almost have to shelter them.
I looked over at the ship, the final preparations were being made before we took off from the ground and Gama seemed well rested. It was already mid afternoon, by the time we’ll be in the air they’ll already be getting the food ready. This day has somehow felt quite short.
With a short sigh from having to leave this beautiful area, I rushed over to the others to see if they needed help with anything else before we left. It was all already ready though, Gama had her harness on and everyone was already on the ship.
With a few final checks to make sure everyone was on, we took off from the oasis with three new members added to our already oddball crew. Unexpectedly Kasa took the take off the worst, both Kuda and Sari seemed to deal with it rather well. Although I did see Kasa stumble a bit with the wind.
We made Sari a small comfortable resting spot at the very front of the ship as thanks to the wind shield that’s where we got the least wind. She’s only just recovered and she’s pregnant so we wanted her to be as comfortable as possible.
After that the rest of the day past by easily enough. The Wolves mostly kept to themselves, but it wasn’t like they were being anti-social or anything and the rest of the crew more or less accepted they were there.
So we ate food and soon after headed off to bed. I was a bit worried how having wolves on the ship would be and whether they’d get in our way or not, but so far it seems to be going well. Then again it’s only been half a day. Although the three of them are far from bad people, so I get the feeling we won't have much to worry about.
